It's a fairly nice try at making a Belgian style brew. The brewers managed to capture that weird funky musty tang that is a signature element of taste and smell of a typical Belgian ale.

My socks remain on though.

nice mix of beers in here, english stuff, belgian stuff, lagers, good diversity and seems like they are up to brew just about anything. this is a decent belgian pale, strangely overly estery on the yeast side and im not sure the hops are super compatible with the fermentation overall, but its a light and radiant brew that drinks easy in the summer even with all the yeast and hop character, on the edge of belgian ipa perhaps in terms of hop intensity, but i like the boldness. bright yellow and frothy headed from the tap, looks well refined and tidy, the head looks belgian. the nose is spicy, lots of back end hops, herbal and lemony and grassy, with high tone yeast notes of white pepper, green banana, pear brandy, and clove, very compelling, only slightly soapy to me, light on the grain side. the flavor follows, spicy all the way, some hop spiciness and late onset bitterness which i didnt expect, more body than it looks like it should have so its nice and flush feeling, with the yeast doing most of the talking, plantain and anise and allspice, a little golden raisin thing, lemongrass, dill, faint green pepper. flavorful and good, maybe a little overly estery and warm on the ferment, but cool robustness in an almost shockingly low alcohol brew. cool stuff.

From the large can, it pours a clear darker amber with a nice head that slowly diminishes to a modest layer and leaves lacing as you enjoy it. In the nose, it is pleasant, with some vanilla notes. In the mouth, it is overall pleasant - a bit malty and a touch of sour.

This is the perfect expression of a regular beer from a craft brewer - a Belgian pale that ticks all the boxes. Regular, consistent, perfectly crafted - a great crispness, balanced bitterness and malt, and as a Belgian pale, the yeast notes provide enough interesting notes to make a flagship beer that never gets boring.

Can from Craft Beer Cellar in Waterbury. Poured into tulip at home. Smell a letdown after NEIPA, but a solid Belgian golden is always OK in my book.

A childhood friend & her husband made a Vermont trip recently & brought home beaucoup CANs for people, including me! It is such a pleasure to have thought up & created The CANQuest (tm) all of those years ago & even better is the fact that it is CANstantly growing.

From the CAN: "Drop-In Brewing is the production brewery of the American Brewer's Guild Brewing School. 'The Leader in Craft Brewing Education.' Sunshine And Hoppiness is a Belgian-style Golden Ale brewed with imported pilsner malt, Cascade hops and a blend of two Belgian yeast strains."

I Crack!ed the vent open & CANmenced a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. Once acCANplished, I followed up with a vigorous in-glass swirl that raised just over a finger of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention, leaving some nice lacing in its wake. Color was Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5) with NE-quality clarity, prompting a visit from The Gelt Gang of Croesus, Midas & Mammon. Nose was a bit too hop-forward for the style & while I appreciated it, I must review/rate to style, not to taste. Mouthfeel was medium, but nothing to get excited over/about. The taste had a bready, yeasty quality to it along with a very grassy & slightly spicy hoppiness. This was a pleasant enough beer, but it was not the best of the style that I have had. It lacked Ooomph! which is always important in drinking a middle-of-the road style. Finish was semi-dry & it was certainly pleasant enough, but it just was not enough to rate it more highly. YMMV.

Can from the Health food Store in Williston.
Mostly clear deep golden color with a bubbly white head that quickly dissipates. Initially some apple and skunk on the nose when first opened luckily that dissipated quickly. Spicy clove on the nose with a bit of bready pils underneath and a hint of citrus, The flavor is crackery bready pilsner malt lots of clove and not enough spice in the flavor with bits of citrus and fruit. Decent beer.

The appearance was a semi-rust/copper color with a good looking transparency about it. Carbonation rose at a moderate pace. Just a film of sustaining white foamy head. Not much lace. The aroma had a nice blend between sweet Belgian sugars, lemon pulp sweetness, some coriander to cracked clove, light Belgian spice, sweet leather, some biscuits, dried leaves, a hint of floral and ended with a little bit of hay/freshly cut grass. The flavor blended the previously mentioned aromas together pretty nice - the sweet to the spice to the grassy light cleanliness. Aftertaste was smooth with the Belgian sweetness and spices. The finish was clean with the grassiness, floral and Belgian spices. The palate was almost medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV strength felt appropriate. Overall, really nicely done Belgian pale ale that I would love to come back to.

The name writes a check the beer can't cash. It's a good looking beer. Grassy malty smell.
Herbal flavor, almost no hops. Dime a dozen Belgian golden ale. Not impressed. If you don't want to brew hoppy beer that's fine but don't try and trick people who want a hoppy beer into buying your product. Even after the disappointment of not getting what you're expecting the beer itself is average for the style it actually is. A better name for this beer is "Buyer's Remorse."
