Light fizzy off-white head with lower retention, a touch of lacing, hazy auburn to brown color
Nose sweet toffee nutty malts, a little caramelization notes, maybe candi sugar, a bit of a soft waxy oxidation note, dark fruits, fig, date like,
Taste brings more of the brown toasted malts, biscuity, nutty toffee, mild caramelization and candi sugar notes, some dark fruits with a bit of fig, date, even some raisin notes, touch of bitterness, more oxidation waxy very slight cardboard,
Mouth is med bod, lower carb,
Overall not bad, def some age on it but still pretty good for sub 7% abv

Bottled August 20/13; drank 9/1/23 @ the Yarchives.
Mostly opaque brown/orange appearance.
An even pour yielded a small, noisy khaki head; decent lacing remained.
Plum, leather, library book & faint strawberry notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Plum, library book, plum, mild leather & faint tart cherry flavors.
This tastes...old, but it's still enjoyable. I'd love to try it fresh, but at over a decade this has held up quite well.

Was excited to try another trappiste ale from a brewery I hadn’t had yet. Amber/copper in color, sweet, malty, spicy, and yeasty. Predominant flavors of stone fruit throughout. Chalice worthy!

Light brown color, medium body & carbonation. Had this with a rib eye steak lunch after a 10 miles run in the morning, that was totally delicious ! Didn't really check what I picked to drink, and I was like dang this is good then saw it was a dubbel which is one of my favorite style of beer. Sorry not much details but if you like dubbel you will like this one !

330 ml bottle, at Cafe Chic Oldschool, Hjørring. Served in Rochefort glass. Nearly red colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of ripe yellow fruits, some spicy yeast. Malty, spicy and fruity flavour, moderate hops. Good beer.

Orangey light brown cloudy pour with two fingers of beige foam. Smells of belgian yeast bringing with it apple and pear esters, candi sugar and white bread crust with a hint of spices. Apple is front and center in the taste, sweeter with candi sugar accents, yeast rounds out with light bitters to massage the sweetness on the end. Feel is lighter for a dubbel, super malty and smooth, light breadiness slightly contrasts but want more. Good dubbel but sweeter and lighter on the spectrum

Bottled 3/2013, Drank 2/2021. Assumed was in cold fridge entire time as found in back of Leo Liquors beer cave.
Thin off white head, brown with red touch, somewhat clear. Aroma is huge sweet honey soaked raisins, hint of plum, and red grapes. Taste starts with red grapes, hint of plum, then fades into a thin red apple sweetness, ends with a sweeter dryness and lasting honey roundness. Body is light with medium to high carbonation. Overall nice, maybe missing some of deeper thick body that I’d expect of a double but age probably has to do with it. Has held up well for 8 years old and actually really surprised I’m getting a lot of honey. Would love to try this fresh.

L- Between deep amber and pale brown, pours with minor haze and 3mm pale tan head. [Most sediment left in bottle].
S- Prominent Belgian-style yeast esters.
T- Some mild fruity, mostly apple notes. Hoppier-dry than I'm used to from a Trappist
F- 'Kinda Trappist-lite', it's rather thin compared to other such beers I've had, even for a double. At 6.9% I'd expect some presence on the palate, if not yet giving ABV palate-zing. Here I find it hard to discern ABV at all.
O- The lower ABV% and higher than usual hopping make this something different vs most Trappists. Unfortunately for me neither difference is a bonus vs my tastes. It's certainly drinkable but at it's notably high price (ouch!) I've no reason to buy it again.
330ml bottle BB: 03/10/2021 £4.95 Bought from BeautifulBeers/BurySt.Edmunds as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London. Maybe being Austrian makes this one especially $ as their other BE/DE/NE/FR etc beers are much better value.

A: Pours a copper color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap
S: Toasted maltiness, caramel, dark fruit, lightly spicy Trappist yeast
T: Follows the nose. Starts off with a mix of caramel, toasted malt, dark fruit, and the Trappist yeast. Picks up some amplified raisin and fig. Finishes with lingering caramel and yeast presence
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation
O: A solid Trappist dubbel that is easy to drink. The yeast pushes some nice spicy and fruity notes while the malt provides some balance and sweetness. Nice and fairly simple, Trappist-wise
