Stony Joe is a Golden Mocha Stout. It is designed like a traditional Milk Stout but without using the typical roasted dark malts. Instead we use a boat load of rich, decadent golden colored English barley, flaked barley, flaked oats, and flaked wheat to give it lush body and smooth sweetness. We then ferment it on Cocoa Nibs and add fresh locally roasted Guatemalan Coffee, directly to the fermenter. We are excited to partner with Redding Roasters Coffee Company of Bethel, CT on this mind bending beer.

A: crystal clear; deep gold in color; 1 finger ivory head that receded to a thin collar; very little lacing;
S: coffee;
T: weak black coffee from start to finish; moderate bitterness at the end;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: I love to use blond stouts when I do beer training to show that color doesn't equal flavor; for that purpose, this beer is valuable to me; otherwise, it deson't have much flavor and is a little harsh;

Pours a deep honey golden color with a creamy off white head that settled into a ring.
The aroma is fresh ground coffee. Very inviting. Perhaps some cocoa scents.
The taste is of ground coffee and cocoa. While the malt is prevelent it is neutral letting the coffee shine.
The feel is full with semi prickly carbonation. Sweet on the palate with a light coffee like bitterness in the finish.
Very good coffee forward beer. A bit one note but good none the less.
