Our first Stony Creek beers are (203) India Pale Ale and (860) India Pale Ale. Each mildly different yet truly American IPA’s. A-Pours a cloudy pale straw color. Looks like Hefe or a Witbier. Thicker white head leaves long lacing stripes.

S-Very boring. I initially thought my order was wrong, it didn't look like an IPA nor does it smell like one too much either. Its really quite bland with some vague yeastiness and some defunct hops with grain.

T-Nope! Its missing so many things. Just a mixture of semi-off and unmemorable flavors.

M-If it doesn't taste very good how can it really feel that good?

O/D-Avoid.

A pale brown color with almost no sign of head, just a vague white ring, and minimal lacing. Almost no sign of bubbles here. The aroma suggests an anemic burnt caramel and peanut cracker. Weird and certainly far from any expectation for an IPA. The taste buds meet more of the same, mellow nutty malt with a mild leafy hop kiss. Sort of a limp caramel tea idea. Not real loveable for me and for an IPA the hops are just not prominent enough, or very tasty, and offer very little aromatic value. The body is about medium but the carbonation is lacking with a bit of a dull, limp feel. Not too exciting. I don't see this being a very successful endeavor and I will not revisit.

Had on tap at the Home restaurant in Branford back in late 2014. Poured into a pint glass. Interesting to drink this beer that was brewed at Hooker when the new Stony Creek Brewery is being built near by. Pours a lighter color of amber, near orange, not a lot of head. Smell is pretty malty and light, touch of hops. Taste follows suit, it's pretty bitter but the hop flavors don't come out much. Malt backbone is pretty prominent. Not a great IPA, similar to that of an old Harpoon IPA. Pass.

Overall - Not a personal favorite. I preferred the 860 over the 203, although I wasn't too impressed by either.

A - Golden with a 1 finger white head. Nothing to write home about on this one...

S - Smell is off-putting, sorry to disappoint, but I'm not too enthralled with it. No scent of any maltiness, no fruity hops, no floral hops, just an astringent bitterness. It smells like it came straight out of an aluminum fermenter.

T - 1-dimensional bitterness. Not sweet, not syrupy, not much of an alcohol bite, not sour, just a metallic bitter bite.

M - Slightly watery, not thick, not effervescent, not bubbly or smooth, just blah...

O - I would pass on this beer if I were you. There are many others I would purchase before this one again. Certainly an "AVERAGE" rated beer in my opinion...

12oz bottle poured into glass. Born on Date – 09/05/12. Poured into glass with a minimal head and a hazy light amber color. I heard this one was different from the 860, but it was tough for me to tell the difference. It may have a bit more grapefruit to it than the 203, but it still is quite earthy and balanced. The profile is a little thin for the style.
