Notes: 2016 World Beer Cup Gold Medal winner for best American Sour! The conflict of flavors in this dry hopped sour ale combine to create a truly unique beer. Our house lactic culture creates a tart, sour base, contrasted with an intense Citra and Galaxy dry hopping. The aroma showcases citrusy, fruity elements and the finish tastes of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice.

Not my first. A favorite. 12 oz. can into cold beer mug. Slightly cloudy pale yellow with decent head. Mild tart scent and flavor but distinctly a sour after a mouthful. Dry hops and citrusy with a citrus finish reminiscent of lemons and grapefruit. Excellent.

12 oz can picked up at Wegmans as part of a mix-6. Pours a slightly cloudy straw yellow with very little head. Aroma and flavor are moderately tart with some wheat and citrusy/floral hops. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated and on the light side. Overall it's fairly refreshing but nothing I'd buy again.

Friday night virtual tasting beer 3 - poured from a can (date faded/can't read) into a small plastic taster

L: slightly turbid yellow gold, thick white head with minimal white lacing

S: great tangerine aroma, lactic acid sourness, a "clean" kettle sour nose (no THP issues here) with great citrus notes

T: follows the nose, a richer tangerine flavor flavor with a bit of lactic funk to it thinking tangerine greek yogurt or something similar. Very nice acidity, very drinkable and refreshing. Full flavor with a lower abv, impressive profile from just the house yeast and hops

F: medium body, medium/high carbonation, acidic and drying

O: delicious sessionable sour, full of flavor and very refreshing. Impressive what they were able to do with just yeast and hops, especially in a sub-5% abv format

As fine a sour as you'll find, especially if you like grapefruit. Elizaville hamlet is sweet Dutchess County town that was at the center of my cycling training 30 years ago.
a) hazed fruit juice look. after energetic head, fades as sours must.
s) Musty tropical fruit, hops, funk, salt, yeast.
t) Follows around and gets bigger, stays bigger. Finish is earthy spicy piney hop, again funky horse barn.
f) Mouth is med bod, nice carb.
o) Sum greater than the parts, a special hoppy, original sour.

On tap at Row 34 on Boston, into a snifter, pours a cloudy goldenrod, a beautiful delicate lacy 1 inch head subsiding after awhile to a little ring that sticks around forever. A little wood in the nose, some fleshy juicy mango, some ripe cherry, and a lot of soured citrus peel...interesting mix of sour and juicy sweet. Taste carries the nose forward...not as sour, but it’s still there, balancing out the significant fruit. Sour comes midway...finishes on a point but not much pucker, and the woodiness fades.

S: Citrus hops. lemon peel. Slightly dank.

T: Very tart. Lemon. Citrus. Refreshing.

F: Light body and highly carbonated.

O: A real nice sour. Great for a hot, sticky summer evening.

On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a slightly hazy yellow, with a small head, and very little lacing.

Smells like straight hoppy sour candy- it's very sour on the nose, with pineapple and mango, sour patch kids, and sour grapefruit.

This is really good. The only downside is a sort of briney like salt thing that seems slightly out-of-place. It doesn't really detract for me, but it's probably not meant to be there. It's quite hoppy, with loads of sour citrus, pineapple, mango, and grapefruit mainly, with just a slight hint of bitterness. The sourness has a wonderful sweet and sour quality to it- it really reminds me of Sour Patch Kids candy.

This is light bodied, crisp, with a higher level of carbonation.

This a bold and assertively sour beer, with a great level of hops. One of the best dry-hopped sours that I've had.

Hazy yellow straw body with a
fleeting white cap. Sour stone fruit aroma. Lacto up front with a gentle acetic finish. Lingering pineapple and melon. Tasty!

Don't pay attention to my rating, it's a good sour. I just don't like sours. But if you do, this fits your bill. Not overly sour, clean and refreshing. I wish they took the sour out and made this a wheat beer because I would love it.

Growler from Sam the Beer Man, poured into a tulip.
Orangey-yellow, hazy, like fresh-squeezed tangerine juice. (Or a NE IPA.)
Thick (2"+), quickly dissipating off-white head. Little to no lacing.

Aroma is of pineapple juice (mostly), with a little yeast/funk .

Flavor is overwhelmingly yellow grapefruit (including rind-like bitterness). Some lemon, and a touch of tangerine. Maybe a hint of pineapple,on the finish, but not as apparent as the aroma.Hard to detect. Pleasantly tart, at a Berliner Weisse tartness level, that lingers on the mid to back of the tongue, for several minutes.

Sharp, but very fine (size) carbonation. Fairly substantial mouthfeel for 4%.

Overall, a winner, that I will get again, if the opportunity arises. A 64 oz growler? Might not seem enough. Given that it was one of the $12 Friday specials, a definite bargain.:) I see my rating is above the average. It's 94F, so might have something to do with it. :) A refreshing hot-weather option.

Thanks to Jared for sharing this growler.

A -Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice hazy golden hue with a thin white head that fades to leave thin wisps.

S - Aromas of funky horse blanket, fair amount of tartness, almost kumquat like citrus tartness. Maybe some grapefruit citrus, lightly musty.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, pleasantly funky, loads of citric tartness, kumquat, almost a chalky tartness. There is a nice tart grapefruit. Very bright citrus.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, maybe a bit thin.

O - Overall this is a very solid beer, nice tartness and funk. Really tasty.

Decent head disappears, murky lemony straw yellow color.

Nose bright grassy floral hops, quite fruity, generic fruity mix, faint sour lacto acidity, kumquat grapefruit tartness.

Taste starts with sour, tart grapefruit sourness, little acidity and very mouth puckering sour finish, lemony, mild grassy floral hops, little fruity as well, tons of grapefruit like a glass of grapefruit juice, especially the long tart sticky slight flemmy finish.

Mouth is med bod, lighter but decent carb, tart little acidity, flemmy.

Overall really interesting beer, great fruit tart tons of grapefruit, nice sourness not a ton of funk, very enjoyable, wish there was a bit more carbonation.

Hazy, straw colored beer. Modest bubbles for a head that completely disappear within a minute of the poor. No lace.

Sour notes, particularly lemon, too the nose. I think I'm getting salt although I know isn't a Gose.

Think dry shandy. There's plenty of lemon in the taste but it isn't overly tart. The body is chewy with ample fine carbonation. The sourness is dominant enough to prevent any hop bitterness from coming through. A refreshing beer on a summer day without the blandness of a lawn mower beer.

I know it is odd to rate a beer 5 across the board but hey a rating is my opinion on how I believe the brewery did right?

This is hands down the best sour beer I have had yet!

Although this is very light on the nose with only a little latic acid and tropical fruits it really shines through with its taste

This beer has a strong Peach, Pineapple, lactic sour flavor!

Overall: If you are in an area to get this beer TRY IT! Hands down this is the beer that got me to fall in love with the "Sour Revolution"

On-tap at Hops Hill, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin head covering the surface that left a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of sourness and fruit—peaches seem to stand out in particular—are present in the nose.
T: The taste is a little creamy and resemblant of lactobacillus, much like you would expect in a Berliner weissbier. There is a little bit of sourness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a slight bit of tartness.
O: This beer tastes like a hybrid between a wild ale and a Berliner weissbier. It's very easy to drink and has some refreshing properties.

Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a tight white head. Noticing lots of carbonation despite not being able to see through the beer.

Not a huge nose on this one - getting a bit of tropical fruit and lactic sourness but it definitely doesn't jump out of the glass.

The taste is where Confliction really begins to shine. Huge notes of candied peach and pineapple with good deal of lactic sourness as well. Tastes like liquified sour skittles.

Solid mouthfeel on this one - not quite thick but the lactobacillus definitely makes the mouthfeel seem more filling than it probably is.

Would gladly drink this on a regular basis, definitely my favorite Sloop beer.

L: Orange yellow, lit by an internal grace.

S: funk, peaches, tangerines. Straight and simple.

T; this is probably the fruitiest non fruited beer I've ever had. It tastes like it was dry hopped with handfuls of clementine. The sour is a nice sour candy, making this a sipper and savourer.

F: a little high in carbonation, leaves a little tingly sensation on the palate.

O: the grooves in the upstate New York just keep flowing! Great job Sloop! Seek this out, the rare sour that works perfectly for cold winter nights.

Clouded and on the dull yellowy side

Fruity and sour on the nose

The sour carries the freight here, not crazy/puckeringly sour, but def not gonna be for everybody.....Sour, tart, yeasty and has got a funky characteristic as well....I loved this with a salad, but others at the table, couldnt go forno more then a sip/taste...if ya like sours/wild beer, you lkiely will find this quite tasty and enjoyable, as I did
