Poured into a flute.

Huge aroma bursts out of the totally hazed yellow straw brew. The aroma is vinous white wine grape, fruity mango and some zesty citrus.

The flavor has dominating earthy hops with all the Nelson characteristics shining front and center. Grape, some tropical fruits, herbal hops, resinous.

Moderate carbonation with a soft mouthfeel. Moderate background bitterness adds balance.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2018, Yellow Session. Aroma is hoppy, fresh, a bit grainy, citrusy. Taste is grainy, hoppy, floral and grassy.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, opaque, orange, almost murky, but inviting.

Smell: The smell is light and tropical, evoking mango.

Taste: Flavor follows the aroma but much more intense. Lots of tropical and stone fruit. A light bitterness that is not at all overpowering. Really an incredible amount of flavor for 6.8%.

Mouthfeel: Full, pillowy, with medium carbonation.

Overall: delicious beer. This is probably my favorite brew that I’ve had from Sloop. I will definitely seek this out in the future. As good as any NEIPA that I’ve had. But maybe I’m just a Nelson Sauvin fanboy.

A: Poured from the growler into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body is murky honey-golden with a small whitish head on top.

S: Juicy tropical fruit with an earthy mustiness to the nose as well.

T: Juicy tropical fruit - pineapple - and vinous, white grape skins. Herbaceous, with hints of "green" stuff - i.e., pine needles, grass and even mint. Finishes with a good dry bitterness and a lingering white wine-like (hint of) sweetness, white grapes, and minerals.

M: Medium in heft, carbonation is fine but not overly active.

O: Good stuff. I like their regular Juice Bomb better than this one, but that's not surprising, as I'm not a huge fan of the Nelson Sauvin hop varietal. Still, it's well done and definitely showcases that hop.

pours out murky with a beautiful bright white head, some good lacing left behind. this one is a wonderful showcase of a really unique hop. very musty earthy and slightly dank character, big white grape skin and hint of fleshy grape, pithy grapefruit, grassy, lemon/lime, hinty herbaceous green note and some hints of pineapple, orange and candied peach, bready malts and some mellow pine on the finish. solid mouthfeel. overall a great brew!

A beer that shows that all juice bombs are not created equal. There's a lot of craft and great freshness to this beer, but I suspect that the new kid on the block, Nelson Sauvin, is not a hop we want to taste much more from. This is just a little blah compared to most Sloop creations.
