it took me a little while to jump on the bandwagon with these guys, or rather it took me awhile to track down their beer, but i have arrived! totally impressed with the few i have had now, and will be actively seeking out more, might even make a trip down here. this one is a brett blonde ale, and its pretty darn good. milky hite pale yellow in color, hazy as can be, with white lace puffing up tall. it smells great, a little young and stinky, but funky to the max, and with a light but interesting grain base that has to include some wheat and belgian pils malts. the yeast is obviously the star of the show here, but the crackery grain base is a nice baseline flavor, and its dry cereal nature is highly complimentary. the brett is good, maybe a mix of strains, more farmy and musty than tart, although there is a little acidity in here, more of a lemon zest thing there, but mild. highly carbonated, dry as can be, faint wet cardboard before the finish, white grape, champagne, dried grass, its well developed and complex for what it is, and i think some cellar time will let it evolve even more. fun beer from a brewery who seems to deserve all the attention they are getting.

Pours out a vibrant yellow with virgin white head around 1/4". Nice appearance, good funky aroma, white wine barrel, lemon tang tartness, wood.
Taste, a little variation (I've now had it a dozen times) with the tartness and funk, but 90% of the time they are both prominent but not pungent, nice details, no sledgehammer. Notes of cucumber and melon (none actually used in the beer) in the mouthfeel, along with the greater amount of lemon.
Its not equal parts wine, but it has some of the things that make wine great integrated into a beer.
I used to think their Plum Lambic was the best beer bottled in Nevada. But I seem to keep coming back for this one more frequently.
Excellent stuff, especially in the realm of brett beers, this is already an all time favorite in that regard.

On a night of sours, this one might've been the surprise star of the show for me. Like really, really impressed. Out of the bottle (and with a careful pour), it's a lovely brilliant bright gold, almost like a great lager, nice little rim of foam that surprisingly hands in there for a while. You definitely get the Bretty funk in the nose, but it's not composty like some Brett brews. It's almost like it combines with the white wine barrel notes to give something like high fruit, sweet, bright, perhaps even tropical (melon, perhaps?) On the palate, it's really quite tasty, alarmingly drinkable even, with those funky, lightly tart, fruity, and slightly vinuous notes combining like love at first sight, easy conversation, starry-eyed stares and all that. A friend, who didn't like this brew quite so much as I, thought it too vinuous, too much like white wine, but I thought that was to its credit -- like a great, fruity, funky white wine, but still definitely beer to me. Again, you get some sweet melon in there, some tart apple, some sense of grain (which is what kept it from going too winey for me), and even some oak notes slipping in. Perhaps that was the clincher for me -- I'm a sucker for some good oak in my wild ales, and this delivers. Overall, this is a great brew, and I'm definitely going to have to make sure I snag a bottle or two to stash away in the cellar. Drinking great now, and I have a feeling it'll evolve into something equally interesting and fun as it goes. Cheers!
