Boozy, but bottle may be old. Little carbonation, and odd sour character coming through.

Poured from a bottle purchased at Yankee Spirits into a frosted mug, because I'm in basically a beer desert and this is a place where frosted glassware is considered acceptable. I ran mine under hot water to bring it back to a real temperature.

Appearance: A dark, caramel amber with a slight haziness and minimal head, accompanied by white lacing that doesn't stick around for too long.

Smell: Very sweet. Loads of honey and whiskey, with the sweet Belgian yeast dancing in the background. An excellent combination of aromas here.

Taste: Somewhat boozy, with a lot of sweet honey. Sweet and yeasty, with a slight spiciness, all of which I'm attributing to the Belgian yeast, although the Rye whiskey barrels could have contributed to the spiciness as well. Whiskey flavor is overall quite prominent, and works very well with the rest of the profile.

Mouthfeel: Incredibly smooth, with the perfect amount of carbonation. Not too fizzy, but not so flat that it disappoints. Exactly the proper amount for the style.

Overall: I was very impressed with this. A basically blind purchase (I typically read up on a beer before buying it), this went very well with the accompanying lobster rolls. If this is exemplary of the work Berkley always does, I'd be more than interested in trying more of their offerings.
