Free Bird is a solid Pale Ale from Begyle. It poured a copper clear with no head and no lace. The scent had orange peel. The taste was evenly balanced and had nice citrus peel and came off the pallet clean. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. overall it was better than I expected. It is a very sessionable pale ale.

12 oz. bottle, bottled on 02/22/16 printed on the label. Awesome to see Begyle dating bottles now, and in twelve ounce bottles nonetheless. Acquired a single bottle of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's.

Poured into a Duvel tulip snifter.

A - Pours a burnt copper golden orange body with some chill haze. One finger of frothy soapy white head that leaves good strands of lacing.

S - The aroma is fairly subtle, but what's here is nice: soft bready malt undertones with hints of citrus rinds & lemon.

T - Big spicy hop profile on this one: big earthy, herbal Falconers Flight hops. Notes of citrus, lemon, orange, grass, with a bready / biscuity malt backing. Good piney / resinous hop bitterness on the finish.

M - Feel is smooth, crisp, creamy, & easy-drinking. Light-bodied stuff.

Overall, a decent APA ; bordering on IPA status here, however. A nice drinking offering from Begyle; look forward to seeing more twelve ounces from these guys!

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 oz bottle on April 29, 2017. Look is hazy copper gold body with a thin white head and some lingering lacing. Smell is bitter citrus and spice with bread malt. Taste is citrus, grass, spice and resin with bread malt. Feel is light to medium in body with a crisp finish.

Can ran me $1.67 USD at a Trader Joe's in Chicago.

Really quite tasty, showcasing the Falconer's Flight hop blend (Citra in particular stands out) nicely. Well-balanced, with nice citrusy and floral hop flavours tamed by pale malt sweetness. Medium bitterness.

Refreshing yet crisp and medium-bodied. Smooth, wet, slightly oily, approachable.

Highly drinkable fare I think the kids these days would call "crushable" in spite of its overcarbonation. A pale ale I owe more attention to and intend to revisit in finer grain in future.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 7/14/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy medium golden/amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, cracker, biscuit, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, cracker, biscuit, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, cracker, biscuit, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.6%. Overall this is an excellent American pale ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very vibrant, juicy, and lightly dank hops; perfectly balancing pale malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. Never overly aggressive. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Great showcase of Falconer's Flight hops.
