Picked up a bomber of this after sampling it at the brewery's tasting room during the 9th annual German pub crawl. Tasting room/store info: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30121/?view=ratings&ba=emerge077

It made a solid impression then, and I wanted to take some time to sit down with it and review.
Dig the Spaceballs reference...

Into a Begyle tulip it pours a dark chestnut brown with a finger of sticky tan foam on the surface. After the first sip, there's still good coverage and patterns of drippy lace all around the glass. Foam has a creamy surface texture

Aroma is softly roasty, some lightly charred malt and dry tobacco notes.

Flavor is more up front with the roastiness, along with an ample dry bitterness that lingers into the aftertaste. Medium bodied and smooth, fairly chewy. Overall a very nice local Schwarzbier, a little bigger and slightly more bitter than most. Good stuff.

Tasted in a pint glass from draught at Firkin on November 10, 2017. A Schwarzbier brewed with citrus. A collaboration with Cleetus Friedman and Fountainhead. Recommended.

The look of the beer is dark black with very little head. The smell of the beer is light coffee. The taste of the beer was very smooth and a good coffee flavor. The feel of the beer was very smooth. Overall this was a good beer.

Unknown vintage; drank 7/8/15 on draft @ Fountainhead.

Brown/black appearance.

Khaki head; strong lace.

Raspberry, fresh earth & chalk notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Raspberry & mild milk chocolate flavors up front; faint chalk notes on the finish. Easy to quaff but with strong, balanced flavors. A pleasant surprise!
