On tap at the brewery this beer comes across very good. smaller head with a nice lacing staring me down with a semi west coast aroma. Light pine mixes well with ?, Light fruit, maybe tangerine, whatever it is exactly I don't care and I like it. The taste loses a bit of it, but i still liked it a bunch.

Batch 50. 22oz bottle served pin an imperial pint glass. Beer pours orange amber in color and slightly hazy. Massive pillowy white head on top emits a comparably epic alpha hop aroma. Very piney. Flavor doesn't disappoint, providing a crucial load of C-hops. Definitely out of balance on the palate but still finishes dry and neutral. I think this pushes itself over the line into Imperial IPA territory. That said, well done, Chicago.

New bottled IPA from Begyle. Batch #9.

Poured into a tulip glass, it's a turgid and murky auburn color like light polished leather. A bunch of intricate spotty lace coats the sides of the glass, and forms a collar at the edges as it settles down. Initial finger or two of head resting on the surface when poured.

Soft green botanical hop aroma, supporting light pale malt sweetness. Moderately pungent, definitely fresh... i'd wager only hours or a day or two bottled.

Light tangerine citrus, bitter grapefruit zest and pith. Lingering citrus hop flavors mid-palate, soft pale malt sweetness that is mild and supports the hop flavors nicely. Zesty citrus with a biscuity hint, and a dry grassy hop bitterness in the finish. Light to medium bodied, not heavy or overly sweet like many IPA's, this one is very drinkable and balanced. Seems pretty classic and not unlike local favorite Daisy Cutter. I'd recommend this and will keep it in my regular rotation.

"Taaa-an-ger-ines..." - "She Don't Use Jelly" by the Flaming Lips just came on the radio, too perfect.

2017: 3.99
New cans dated 6/22/17, contract brewed at Great Central.
Looks nice, saturated orange with bright clarity and drippy lacing all around.
Aroma is a little muted and malt forward, maybe a little cantaloupe.
Taste is moderately bitter and a little astringent. Piney aftertaste, a little citrus rind.
Overall it's not as bright and pungent as I remember, but still a solid local IPA.

Poured from 22 oz bottle into a pub style glass

A - The body pours a warm gold. The head is fizzy and supported by a cascading carbonation bubbles. Good lacing.

S - Orange, grapefruit, flowers, and slight melon fruitiness.

T - At first, a bit of honey sweetness in the tip of the tongue. Then, a burst of citrus orange and mild tropical fruit flavor as the hops make their presence known. The hops change over the tasting to more of a grapefruit note. The finish is a good balance of dry, sweet, citrus, and bitter.

M - A delightful fizz from the carbonation and a medium, slightly creamy body.

O - A surprisingly great IPA that straddles the border of a DIPA. It's not the most outrageous or memorable hoppy beer, but the balance is outstanding.

Okay IPA, but had none of the aromas or tastes other than bitter than can really put a beer over the top for me. In a town like Chicago where the competition is really doing something special, this beer just didn't bring it.

22oz. bottle poured into a snifter. Batch No.9

(A)- Pours a hazy amber color. Produced a nice cap of white froth; solid retention.

(S)- A hefty yet dry piney wood sap aroma. Very big wood notes with some subtle lemon citrus.

(T)- Some nice caramel malt in the background combined with a dry woody pine needle middle. Slightly dank with very subtle lemon citrus.

(M)- A good carbonation level meets an interesting balance of caramel/amber malts and a very dry piney wood component.

(O)- An interesting IPA with one of the woodiest hop characters I have seen.
