Color is dark brown, almost black. Has light carbonation.
Flavor has some brandy barrel but it's light on the brandy. Has some cocoa and a light aftertaste that I can't quite pinpoint.
Smells of cocoa and wood.

Very good non-bourbon barrel stout. Can smell and taste the brandy, but this isn't just a one trick pony. I get a nice woody flavor, and then a sweetness that isn't the brandy. A little thin in the mouth, but a wonderful beer overall.

So much going on here. Roasty, dark fruits of plum, raisins, figs, pairs so well with the brandy, and caramelized sugars. Body is clean and dry, but still holds up well. Kicking myself I missed out on the bourbon variant. Damn this shit is good. Props to gruss004 for the share.

Pours mahogany/ebony with a finger of rich creamy mocha colored head. stays effervescent throughout, slightly above average head retention & better than good lacing

S: Nice boozey/barrel notes, a little dark fruit

T: Follows the nose, raisins, figs, dryness, carob as well up front. Pear brandy, brown sugar dryness, faint leafy hops & more figgyness once warm, woody hops, plus oakynesss as well. Finishes dry, plummy, figgy with brown sugar sweetness

MF: Light/medium body, firm carbonation, needs more body, some warming feeling

Drinks a little slow, this is a big beer with complexity, do like it more than the base beer to be sure. This beer could probably sit a good 6 months minimum, not bad, just no where as good as the pappy... If they are using the base beer it might be a undermalted at 8.5% ABV. Don't know, not on the bottle
