16oz can from Marengo release 22MAY2016.
Semi translucent, pale-yellow elixir poured in DFH chalice. Two-finger, bright white head, thick lacing throughout.
Aroma contains light tropical fruits, Belgian yeast esters (rose, banana), spice, subtle pine and earth/grass.
The tropical fruit is balanced with a smooth hop bitterness, bready malts and the backend has a nice lingering banana/clove/pine taste.
Nicely carbonated medium body, smooth feel.
Appropriately balanced Belgian IPA which walks a fine line between the hops and Belgian esters.

Traded for this a long time ago, as this was near the bottom of the stash in my basement. No date on the bottom of the can but it held up well as the taste and flavor were still nice and there was very little sediment at the bottom of my pint glass. This wasn't a bad beer and held it's own for being brewed here in the states and not in Belgium. The profile and taste was what I expected and when this was finished, it measured up fairly decently to the better examples of the style that I've had before!
Not a bad look to this as the liquid was blonde, cloudy, and somewhat radiant. A massive, frothy whipped egg-white head reminiscent of Anchor topped this off as it took a while to subside. One solid ring of lacing remained at the top of my pint glass about 1/4 of the way down with some spotty sections below that. Bubblegum, banana, and yeast filled the nose as a slight floral undertone took hold. The taste has more lavender and potpourri in it as it felt like a true Belgian brew, down to the nuances. Light, enjoyable, and balanced, a bit of pear and sour apple took hold as the aftertaste was that of light wood and yeast, which lingered for quite a while...
Not a lot of booze here and it was pretty hard to detect at any point during my session. While typical to a large extent, there was enough to like here as the flavors were those of something I'd have Ommegang or anything from overseas. A nice take on the style that would be a great introduction for someone unaccustomed to something like this...

It's musky alright. I had some friends over for a nice gathering and I decided to break out this sweet heater of a beer! Everyone who tried it compared it to a dry docking on their tongue and was not impressed.

A - Darker golden hue, largely clear, with a short but persistent white head and extensive lacing.
S - Delicate nose, hints bubble gum and pineapple, mango and passionfruit.
T - The flavor is more forward, but focus is on banana, as the yeast offers lovely range, as a mild tropical note comes along. The finish is subtly bitter.
M - Slightly dry in the close, just enough to clear the palate.
O - Completely unexpected. With a beer so large and with a big ABV, I expected a huge hit both flavor and nose, but this is refined, and dare I say it? Restrained. Lovely.
