Zipper Ripper pours a murky orangish amber with full yellowish head, similar to meringue. The smell is a potpourri of citrus and tropical fruits with a gentle honey sweetness and a bit of floral essence. Taste is well balanced with an orange and pineapple up from, with a bit of zest, putting some zing on the palette. Smooth with a nice pine characteristic with just a hint of wildflowers and honey.

Cloudy, pale orange color with a finger head and spotty lacing. Sweet citrus and floral aromas with a hint of vanilla. Flavors of orange juice, vanilla with bitter orange rind and resin. The sweet fruit and bitter hops are totally balanced. Very creamy in texture with smooth carbonation.

So, is that another imperial IPA in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? It turns out that the Hoff Hearted brewers are bursting at the seams to give their Konky Dong imperial IPA a one over with wildflower honey and a disgusting level of Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe in its late additions.

Turbidly amber, the beer strikes a resemblance with whipped egg yolks along with a creamy and tall meringue. Its very generous scent billows onto the nose with a boisterous perfume of citrus, tropical fruit and a strong herbal presence. Gentle sweetness seems innocent enough with a poundcake consistency, honey sweetness and light caramel.

While the sweetness creeps onto the middle palate, its floral aromas retain similar flavors with the honey extending long and lean onto the tongue. Meanwhile, the hops glow unapologetically with a burst of tangerine, blood orange and mandarin along with complementing citrus flavors of lime, white grapefruit and yuzu. Its juicy and acidic twang comes with a balance from tropical fruit impressions of passionfruit, pineapple, mango, apricot and papaya. A late palate of bitterness is smooth and herbal with hints of chive, lemon verbena, matcha tea, hemp and an overall grassy balance.

Medium full in body, the rich IPA allows its malt and honey to retain a bolder grain presence and sweetness deeper into the taste than usual. A bittersweet finish and malty dry body has this full flavored beer to retain a balance and succulence that's not likely to leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

[LOOK] - Tinted warm warm yellow with a fluffy and supple head
[SMELL] - Hoppy with definite sweet notes on the nose. I sense a tiny bit of floral?
[TASTE] - Delicious. Still hoppy and a bit bitter with just the right amount of floral and honey notes.
[FEEL] - Low carbonation and smooth. Finishes nicely with no strange aftertastes.
[OVERALL] - Great solid double. Definitely intrigued enough to try more by Hoof Hearted

Batch from 6/11/17.

Zipper Ripper seems to be getting better with each batch. Definitely has similarity to the famous Konkey Dong but with a ever so slight sweetness to it.

Solid DIPA!

Zipper ripper is definitely evolving. This is a review of the batch from 6/11/17. It pours quite hazy with a bright yellow color. The smell is intensely hoppy with tropical fruit notes. The flavor is reminiscent of konkey dong with the slightest hint of sweetness. Overall this is a phenomenal beer and a sign of great things to come from hoof hearted.

This is from a can from the 6/11/17 release. Has most of the qualities of konky dong with the added sweetness from the honey. I've had a past version of this, and I can say they are moving this more to the NE IPA type.

Damn good. This most recent batch (6/11/17) is delicious. Strong tropical fruit/hoppy aroma. Incredibly Hazy look. Flavor similar in some respect to Konkey Dong, with a hint of sweetness from the honey. Overall, this is a fantastic beer!

Poured into a Duvel tulip. No freshness date.

A- Pours a hazy medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.

S- Super citrusy nose and you can definitely get the honey as it adds a bit of sweet character creating a sort of white wine quality.

T- Incredibly well-balanced with lots of zesty hop character, low bitterness and a nice interplay between the malt and honey. The 8.5% ABV is nearly undetectable.

M- Bright and even slightly tart with medium carbonation and a lightish body.

O- A very tasty and smooth DIPA. I usually don't like honey in my hoppy beers but it's well integrated within this flavor profile. One of the best Hoof Hearted beers I've had so far.

Pours out a typical NE haze for daze pineapple juice look.

Aroma is very tropical, bright citrus fruit forward with a slight floral component.

Taste is also driven by the bright, juicy tropical fruit notes like pineapple, peach, orange and grapefruit with a bit of dankness. Definitely a floral element too from the wildflower honey with a touch of added sweetness on the finish.

Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, totally hidden alcohol.

Another winner and really nice! Is it the next Konkey Dong? No, but it is a very tasty DIPA!

I'm so thrilled that I was finally able to make it to Hoof Hearted in Marengo. Picked up a four pack of pint cans. Label art is adolescent, which really is its charm. Poured a nice cloudy unfiltered straw colored pour with a healthy and somewhat dense white head. I fo not have a great sense of smell, but I pocked up the dank piney scent almost immediately. I knew it would be delicious, and I was right. The flavor was a juicy grapefruity explosion of hops smoothed by honey. This is to me what a DIPA should be. I compare this to the Stone Enjoy By 7/4/16 ( I think that was the date). Did a side by side comparison with Hopslam and Hi-Res and the Zipper Ripper was the clear winner. Wow!

1 PINT can
Served in a stemless wine glass

This beer haze the typical haze for which Hoof Hearted is known. It kind of looks like pineapple juice. It is topped with a couple inches of off white head that sticks to the sides of the glass leaving some nice lacing.

It has some dankness to the aroma along with citrus and tropical fruit aromas.

It has a big, juicy flavor profile. I get tons of tropical fruit with some grapefruit in the finish without being very bitter.

Medium to full mouthfeel for a DIPA.

Another very good DIPA from Hoof Hearted. I find a lot of there DIPAs to taste very similar. I guess that isn't such a bad thing as long as I like them.

Opaque tan-yellow with a thin, fluffy head.

This one is not much different than some of their yeastier IPAs, with spicy cologne, pine, yeasty mango and softening bubblegum in the aroma.

Tangy and slightly spicy pepper is quickly followed by papaya, mango and a bit of a Sprite-like flavor. Honey does not increase heft, but maybe only adds some welcome sweetness to a light wheat element. A slightly bitter bite of mango skin brings back bad memories of the recent Trillium/Monkish and Tired Hands mango abominations, except, this one is not a tongue thrasher and is actually quite nice.

Soft, fluffy, fluid and drankable, with a semi-dry finish.
