Pours a hazy golden color, with quite a bit of solids floating around near the bottom. A nice white head formed, slowly falling to a nice white cap, with very nice lacing. Nose is full of citrus and alcohol, with not much else there. Beer starts off with light malt, leading into a strong pine bite. Notes of grapefruit and orange can be ascertained in the finish. Beer starts pretty mellow, but bitters nicely right at the end. There is an earthy quality from the bittering that I can't quite place, but it nicely complements the pine flavors. This brew has a light body, with little noticeable carbonation. While it wets the tongue it leaves the palate dry, and with no real after flavors. An easy drinking beer, sessionable if you don't mind the 5.5 ABV.

My first North High brew and it is one that is apparently new to them. They did a commendable job. They advertise this as a gateway brew to the world of hops. I don't think that gives the drinker sufficient credit.

It pours (from my growler) looking like an IPA - yellow. Maybe a little dark. The head is medium and dissipates quickly. The bubbles are fine and fair in number, and they continue OK. There is a little haze. The aroma is piney hoppy and fairly strongly so, also like an IPA.

The taste is a nice balance of malty and hoppy.. Definitely in the vein of strong American Pale Ales, but it isn't a strong one. It tastes maltier than it should, becoming a great sessionable brew without the over hopped character of the session IPAs. The aftertaste lingers nice and malty.

This is a great introduction for me to this brewery. I find myself in Columbus frequently so I will seek out some of their other brews.

12 ounce can into pint glass, bottled on 10/9/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, berry, lemon/orange zest, light pepper, pine, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately sticky/creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice pale ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

This beer reallly close to the IPA. Same golden Color and small white head. The taste of the beer was very similar to the IPA but not as hoppy as the IPA

I bought a can of North High Pale from Andersons in Reynoldsburg, OH. It poured an orangish haze with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent has slight bitter tones. The taste has an interesting white wine zeal. The Mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Pretty solid pale ale. Not my preferred style, but love this beer.
