Black in color. Tan creamy head. Appearance is spot-on. Mild, nice malty aroma. Doesnt smell exactly like a milk stout, but the aroma is quality regardless.

Flavor is malty, burnt, chalky, and even slightly sour at moments. This is a nice, basic tasting stout, but I dont see how its a milk stout. The style seems off to me.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied.

Can dated 15282 (October 9, 2015). Pokal.

Appearance: Pours an opaque black with some brown glints at the edge when held to the light. Three fingers tan head. No visible carbonation (it's opaque). Lacing is modest. Retention is fair; a tan ring around the edge with some islands of suds in the middle.

Smell: Smells milky, but like spoiled milk or unscented soap. Lightly roasty.

Taste: Arrives with a lightly sweet roasted barley, and turns to that slightly sour milk taste, somewhat fruity, some vanilla, before a roast and hop bittering take over, for a brief, fairly clean finish.

Mouthfeel: Lighter side of midweight. A little light on the carbonation. Fairly clean finish, with lingering sweetness.

Overall: Man, I really want to like this beer because they are local and I love their Pale Ale, but it's just not doing it for me. I suppose I have been spoiled by Left Hand, but the smell and the finish on this are just not quite right for me. Perhaps it is my mood as I am reviewing this. This is an okay milk stout perhaps a little less sweet than some in the style.

Appearance: Black with 1 to 1 2/2 finger head, retains for a while after the pour.

Smell: Chocolate, toasted, coffee.

Taste: Toasted chocolate with subtle hops.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, lack of strong carbonation typical of cask conditioned beers, light-medium bodied,

Overall: Not bad as a cask ale. Was served at a closer-to-room temperature. For St. Patty's Day they offered the option to have the pour muddled with mint which I'm not sure worked with the beer or not. It did mellow out slightly after letting it sit a little bit.

Coffee black hue with an two inch thick brown head. Taste of Roasted Malts and Chocolate, the moderate aroma is similar. It is velvety, silky, light, and lacks carbonation, which combined with the short sweet aftertaste make feel a bit watery. It is still good just light.

North High is one of the better brewers in Columbus. This is a nice little stout that mostly works.

It opens black but doesn't build much head without a vigorous pour, and the head quickly dies. The aroma is a bit funky skunky.

The taste is a mild, balanced stout. It has a nice creamy but thin mouth feel. The aftertaste is mildly bitter but generally clean - a nice aftertaste.

I generally like bigger stouts. This one would be OK when you already had too many! Not recommended.

Poured from a 12oz can. Into a 10oz tulip glass

L - Poured with 1 finger of head which quickly went away to a small ring around the glass. Opaque black. Head was tan before it subsided.

S - upfront is roast. Followed by subtle coffee, milk chocolate and a tiny bit of vanilla.

T - roast, little coffee. Dark chocolate at the back end.

F - a little thin for me. Flavor quickly leaves the mouth. Thin to medium thin mouth feel.

O - not bad. Not the best. Definitely a solid beer. Good milk stout. Average I would say.

Hard pour from can into a pub glass. Nice tan head that doesn't stick around too long but leaves behind some lacing. Trying to find a nose here, but nothing much. Taste of coffee and cocoa but not as bold as the can says. Mouthfeel is prett smooth but very thin. Overall, not a terrible milk stout but not the best. I am left wanting more body, aroma...just more.
