look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 3

Appearance: Pours a crystal clear, golden-mahogany body with a small, fizzy, white head.

Smell: Toasty malts with a slight hint of toasted almond slivers. Very soft floral notes.

Taste: Toasty malts, a slight nuttiness, and a medium dark caramel sweetness. Faintest hint of floral and citrus. Rather subdued hop bitterness. Crisp, dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium, fizzy carbonation.

Drinkability: A thin, simply dark lager that's only real goal is to be crisp and refreshing. I'm fine with that.

Pours a nice pale copper color with a decent dense off-white head that dissipated into a cap. The aroma is pretty faint, some buttery/nutty malt and thats about it. The taste is of slightly toasted malt, mineral water, and a light grassy hop. The feel is light with a good amount of fizzy carbonation, finishes balanced and neutral. A decent offering but nothing to get excited over. The beer has some flavor and drinks easy.

This is not a bad beer at all. BUT it isn't great either. It pours amber with a big fizzy white head that quickly falls into the glass. No real lace to speak of. The head reduces to nothing. Smells of amber malts and typical malt fruitiness. Nothing overwhelming or too impressive. Taste has the same impact on me. Malt and a little bit of hops. Mouthfeel is a little thin but it is drinkable. This beer is good for the money. I got a mixed 12 pack for 9.69. For that price these beers are worth it. I would say this amber has a minute edge over Yuengling.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, beer is a very clear, amber-brown color with a thin, bubbly head. The smell is malty sweet, slight roasted character; nothing much else is discernable. The taste isn't that spectacular either; pretty bland except for the sweet malt that you get hit with towards the end. The mouthfeel is that of your average macro lager, light in body and overly carbonated. Drinkable, but nothing very enjoyable about it. Overall, not JW's best beer, in fact the worst one I've had to date.

Pours a (surprise) amber colors with minimal head and retention.

Smell is of malt and very little else.

Taste is very one-dimensional. That being said, the malty taste that this brew lends itself to is pleasant and makes it very drinkable. This does not taste like an amber, however. There is no hop character whatsoever. It actually tastes very much like their honey brown.

Again, it would be very easy to put a few of these down, though I don't really see myself buying any more of these if there is something else around.

12oz bottle from their multi-pack. Translucent amber-red body with a half inch of off-white head. Smells of roasty malts. Tastes like roasty malt with some citrus hops in the background. On the lighter side of medium-bodied. Drinkable and very tasty. Their best offering I've yet tried...

Not really perfectly balanced as the lable would say. It has a good taste. More malty, not much hop profile. It's very drinkable, but it has this empty taste to it. It's not necessarily thin mouthfeel, it's like drinking a ghost beer. sorry but that's the only way I can describe it. Don't think I'll be trying again; although it is drinkable. Their pale ale is much better.

poured clear copper color with a tan three finger head that faded to just the beer fairly quickly with a minimal lacing. caramel aromas with caramel and cane sugar sweetness up front with some hops to balance. mouthfeel is light, good carbonation. easy session beer maybe not the best but far from the worst.

Poured rich amber into a nonic with a half-inch of off-white foam, which quickly disappeared. The aroma was of malts, with a slight undertone of roasted malts, and a hint of hops. The taste was fairly unimpressive. A malty sweetness with hints of wood, and a slight hop bitterness to finish it off. There was also a slight sour carbonic taste to this beer. It felt a bit grainy and astringent, with a fair bit of carbonation. Not the best beer I've ever had, but certainly one of the better ones out of the J.W. Dundee's sampler. I'm not sure if I would drink this one again, but I certainly would not recommend it to any.

i poured this beer from the bottle to a tumbler at 45 degrees. Color was amber okay head that decayed pretty fast. i was however knocked out by the smooth refreshing slightly sweet flavor of this beer. I really liked it as it had a hint of caramel and reminded me of a nut brown almost. I will buy again.

12oz bottle served in a pilsner glass.

L - clear, amber color with a beige head that left some lacing.

S - light malty aroma.

T - sweet malt flavor with a touch of hop bittering on the finish.

F - light/medium bodied with a crisp carbonation feel.

D - easy enough to drink anytime.

A- Pours out a very light copper. One finger of very tight head. Good lacing, especially with the limited hops taste of this one.

S- No DMS (awsome!). Some toasted nuttiness comes out of the nose of this one along with bread crusts, and some faintly rye characteristics. It's a great smelling beer, just a very faintly smelling beer.

T- Again there is some nut flavors- almonds or walnuts- which give the beer an almost roasted malt quality. Hops are very subdued with some earthiness coming out in the back of the mouth.

M- Creamy and dry, but somewhat chalky.

D- This isn't bad. The tastes are there I think but could be more assertive. The mouthfeel could use some work. I would drink more if I had another bottle I think.

Pours a slightly orange-ish hue of amber with a full white head. Some lacing is retained as I drink. Smells a mix of malt and yeast, somewhat sweet. Taste left a bit to be desired, kind of bland slightly sweet fading to a very lightly hop finish, with a bit of sour aftertaste. Very smooth mellow feel overall on this beer, nicely carbonated, despite the lack of body it does feel somewhat good in the mouth. Its drinkable but, would be a bit better in my opinion with a bit more flavor.

Bronze copper body with constant effervescence in a lager glass--thick, half-inch head appears tasty... medium-bodied malts with a friendly, yeasty accent--appealing--and yet a hint of corn also... nondescript, thin bodied palate--settles on the tongue, but is fleeting like iced tea...tin, metallic malts--a Natural Light tinge with a little more body.. warms as the glass continues... a bit sweet with a somewhat grainy, yeasty finish...again, nondescript--serviceable and probably a safe companion to pizza or nachoes...

Pours a nice amber color (even more than the Honey Brown) and has a one-finger head. Aroma is sweet and malty with even a bit of fruitiness normally associated with an ale. Taste is somewhat strong and sharp upfront. The sweetness fades in the middle into a malty aftertaste that just feels cheap to me. It's like they re-engineered Genesee using this beer. Granted, it is still smooth enough to be drinkable but I just don't go for the roughness in the taste.

A-Poured to a nice head and also good lacing. Head was a little off white. Ale was a amber in color, maybe a little reddish. Head remained around the edges of the glass.
S-Had a slightly sweet smell with maybe a hint of citrus.
T-Tasted also slightly sweet. With a little orange or citrus aftertaste.
M-Felt good in the mouth. Might be a tad over carbonated, but nothing major.
D-I will drink these again. Seems like JW Dundee is making some decent beer.

Like most of the JW Dundee beers, this is pretty macro. An amber colo rwith a tan bubbly head. Not much of a nose or flavor profile. Some mild malts and very light pale hops. A watery body leads to poor drinkability. Nothing bad about this one, but nothing good either.

A big fan of Genny's higher offerings in the past (12 horse, Bock), I'm sold on Dundee's American IPA, but was shying away from this lager for a while as I don't like sweet. But in a moment of desperation I went for it and am surprised. As others mentioned, the malty nose and initial taste defines this beer. As such I was disappointed mid-taste. But then the finish reveals that there's not as much malt going down as there seems up front. Kinda weird but true. A pleasant surprise of hops emerges after swallowing. Overall a clean though slightly malty, good lager, as good as Sam Adams and for 5.49/6.

Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into a Long Trail pint glass.

A: Poured a clear, copper-amber color with a bubbly head of froth which fizzled to a thin, beige lace. It's not a category to score on, but this beer sounded like a bowl of Rice Krispies in milk.

S: Smells of generic toasted grain and malt with a sweet aroma rising from it.

T: Taste is a little thin, but balanced. There's a rush of sweet caramel malts up front, followed by a synthetic hop bitterness that does little to add flavor to the aftertaste, but serves as a balance to the sweetness of the malts used here.

M: Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, and pretty crisp for an amber lager.

D: Dinkable enough for an amber lager, but in a generic category, this one doesn't even hop off the page. I'd go after these in a mix-pack and end it there.

It's almost a shame this one is apparently retired, because it's probably the most balanced out of Dundee's collection of misfits. New packaging and label art ought to mean new beer recipes with a dedication to taste and quality, too.

A- Reddish brown color, clear, light head that disappeared almost instantly

S- Caramel, nuts, roasted malts, little hint of hops

T- Roasted malts, nuts, bread, honey, really sweet

M- Smooth, medium body, little carbonated finish

D- Decent beer (if it's on special at your local bar)

Nothing too exceptional about this beer. Good flavors but a little too sweet for my tastes.

12oz. bottle from Krogers(lol) poured into a pint glass.

A: Nice dark amber pour. 1 finger head that retreats to a constant 1/8 inch. Decent lacing.

S: Smells like cheap, over sweetened instant iced tea.

T/M: Tastes the same: Sweet'n'Low. Malts are at a good level, just overly sweet. Very light body, moderate-high carbonation.

D: Easy as shit to drink except for the taste. Found this for $8/12pack(variety). Can't beat the price, but this is the 5th(out of 6) worst.

Note: Although not the greatest beers I've tasted, JW Dundee's has 2-3 beers that I'd gladly pay 8$/12pack for.... If only I could find a normal 12pack of there "good enough for $8 IPA/APA" and not a variety pack.

# 2 out of my sampler was their amber lager; pours a nice light copper color w/ a slight head which dissapates quickly, little lacing; sweet malty aroma w/ some caramel undertones; really thin, some caramel flavor w/ little else; very light , almost watery mouthfeel, very bubbly; not an undrinkable beer at all, though, alright in a sampler, but i wouldn't get a sixer of it...
