Brown color and clear. Rocky, but small head. Lots of small spots on the glass for lace.

Deep, dark malted sugars come through on the nose.

The flavor is a cross between caramelized brown sugar and light coffee. Sweeter than most Bock beers. No notable hop. The aftertaste is similar to lightly burnt molasses. Overall, this borders the level of extreme sweetness and richness, even for the style.

A: [3.50] Beer is a reddish/brown leather color. It has a creamy and dense full finger of khaki head. The bottle lists the ABV (7.0%). No date info is visible.

S: [3.00] Not a ton of aroma. I get mild brown bread and strangely some bourbon.

T: [3.25] The flavor is a little flat. It has some brown bread, crackers and a lager flavor.

M: [3.75] Nice body and carbonation. The mouthfeel outshines some of the other components.

O: [3.25] There is just nothing noteworthy about this beer. Maybe it is old (there is no date info). It is just lacking any oomph. It does not have character in any direction. Not worth repeating.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Lacing is a bit showy as it leaves a trail down the glass, deep tawny hue with a great clarity. Sweet malty nose with toasty overtones. Clean throughout, creamy smooth with a bigger body. Sweet malt tone from start to middle, some toasted grain hits middle to end and stays very malty. Very mild hopping, just a hint of alcohol. This is right on the lower end of what Doppelbock is, the malt character is just deep enough.

Deep clear color . 18 on the srm chart. Just khaki head that foams up and lasts well. Malty nose with no hop scents. A touch of grapey frutiiness that settles into a soft scent of raisin. Some melanoidins and toasty notes. Light scents. Not very complex. Reveals a bit of hop earth as it warms. Clean with an impression of strength from alcohol. No real hop flavors. Moderate bitterness. Soft gentle raisn and toasty malt. Lighter body than most and not as rich as most. Not very complex and it does finish a touch sweet.

Out of the bottle. Ruddy-Brown with two fingers of bubbly white head, which quickly fades and leave minimal lacing down the glass. Loads of caramel and dark fruit on the nose. Bready malts. caramel, and raisins dominate the palate, but there's very little chocolate flavor that I normally associate with the style. A good effort from a brewery trying to re-establish itself.
