When we think of a beer brewed for celebration, we think Oktoberfest. Genesee Oktoberfest is a recipe inspired by centuries of brewing and our proud German heritage. Our Oktoberfest is a deep-golden lager, big on malt flavor and complimented by subtle herbal notes of noble hops. We hope this beer gives you good reason to raise a stein and celebrate. Prost!

Looks great, not much to complain about with the aroma (not much to enjoy either). The taste starts off great with some caramel and toffee, then goes unpleasantly bitter and metallic. It does improve as it warms, though.

You know for Genesee, I did not expect this would be as good as it is.
Price is very reasonable, and it's quite tasty.
Genesee is able to make decent brews.
That makes me wonder why they don't do it more often!?

Pours a dark amber color, somewhere between a pilsener and a marzen. Smell is barely noticeable, just malted barley and a slight tinge of green apple. Taste follows the nose but with more of a mineral water taste. It’s a slightly watered down version of what I expected, but I’m okay with that considering the strange aftertaste of mineral water and green apple. Reminds me of wolters or becks pils regarding the aftertaste. Overall ok, but will not be revisiting.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear deep amber color with a small head of off-white foam. The head has a decent retention, fading to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a caramel and toasted bready smell mixed with notes of harvest fruit of pear and apple. Along with these aromas comes a bit of a yeasty and doughy smell as well as some notes of grass.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and toasted malt flavor mixed with some sweetness of caramel and pear. THE sweet is light from the start, with it getting even more so as the taste advances. THE maltiness is a bit higher however, with it gaining some strength as the taste advances with a increase in some flavors of the bread and toasted grain. A little bit of earth and some light bitterness join at the end, leaving one with a nice and rather crisp toasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is slightly more chew and thick with a moderate carbonation level. FOR the style and the tastes the feel is great and makes for a nice sipper.
Overall – I rather liked this Oktoberfest. NOT very sweet, but nice and roasty with some maltiness that is not overpowering, but is still rather pronounced. THE bitterness at the end really ties it all together for me, making an easy sipper.

Genesee specialty is easily my favorite value beer. Every season brings something different, and though there's some misses (the pineapple kolsch and cran orange are a bit too juicy for me), the bar is set pretty damn high for what youre paying. This is right up there with the spring bock for me, just a damn good German style beer. Little malt and a pleasant bitterness. I'd take this over a lot of other oktoberfests out there

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is gold, transparent, head is off white and presents 1+ fingers thick then dissipates to thin top that dissipates further leaving a ring along the glass.

Smell leans more towards 'festbier' status than marzen with lighter sweet malt, crisp grassy hops, really nice and enticing.

Taste is similar and leans towards 'festbier' style in terms of malt and hoppiness - light sweet vienna malt, crisp grassy hops, really nice tasting and lighter on the sweetness with a hop balance.

Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness (but crisper than a marzen).

Overall an excellent oktoberfest in the nuance of a festbier style.

Pours a clear dark yellow/light amber, big 2" head that tapers off with mild lacing. Nose is a bit harsh - lemon, lemon oil, corn syrup. Not much in the way of developed malts or hop presence. Taste is smoother than its nose, but again doesn't have much character - mildly sweet with a bit of bitterness on the finish. Not at all offensive - in fact, as a sessionable lager, it would be great to have year-round - but not a great indicator of the style. Mouthfeel is rich but crisp. A pleasant drink that's worth seeking out.

I love this beer. This Genesee specialty brew is a special treat here in Rochester, and I may have an emotional bias toward the company. Golden copper with nice bite carbonation. I can session this! I love fall. I love you all!

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This decent fest pours a
medium light amber with a decent head of white foam that
fizzles quick to a thin ring with light lacing. Nose of herbal hops
and caramel malts with light breaded notes. Flavors lightly
exceed the nose with light breaded malts over a bed of light herbal
hops and grain notes with honey and caramel notes. Decent mouth
feel; medium light body, medium light carbonation, and a
moderately clean herbal hop and caramel malt touched finish.

Overall, a decent little brew.
