pours golden amber with a white head that falls fast. Lively bubbles flourish in the pour continue to rise . Clear and bright. Nose is good malt with a nice hops herbal. A little bit of floral and breaddy softness. Hops presence on this beer is low. The barely perceptible fruity ester from yest is just there. Also perfectly. Smells like appleskin. Taste is a generous malt with a more moderate rather than low hops presence on the palate. The herbal is sweet and cool. This is a crisp and easy drinking beer. The little tang at the finish is exemplary and as the beer goes to the swallow it's like the whole thing gives way at that moment just for a second. Then the textures in the flavors last, earhty hops and crusty bread. That fruit was but a hint both on the nose and on the palate. A soft counterpoint if you will to the features of the beer that are absent. No diacetyl, no dms. Hops bitter lasts. Excellent. It's a smidgen over carbonated.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 1/4/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of pale malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, cracker, biscuit, light honey, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a damn nice kolsch style. All around great robustness and balance of pale malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, there is no "best by" date that I can find.

APPEARANCE: pours a clear golden color with less than one-finger white head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin, broken layer of small bubbles, there was very little lacing on the glass, medium carbonation.

SMELL: caramel, banana, bread and citrus.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet caramel then banana and bread, there is also a lemon citrus note as well.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a very good beer at a very good price, $9.99 for sampler 12 pack, I would definitely buy this again, Kolsch is not my favorite style but it's a nice break from all the IPA's once in a while.

3/27/15 (Bottle) - Golden pour, good carbonation, white medium foam head. Negligible aroma, and not much taste. Very smooth going down, minimal kick. Meh.

Pours a soft, foamy head that has surprising persistence. Yeasty aroma with a slightly citric hop aroma. Clear and gold. Starts with a grainy hop bitterness. A flash of citrus/metallic. Finish is grainy hops and the faintest maltiness.

This is okay. I like my Kölsches to have a GREAT maltiness. This does well on the hoppiness, but there is barely any malt presence. Increase the malt, and this would be a home run.
