Into a pint glass from a 12 oz. twistoff bottle, this stout pours a fair black with some deep ruby highlights. Half an inch of tan foam graces the top of the darkness and offers moderate retention.

Nose is pleasant with some roasted malts and a bit of chocolate. A lightly smoked aroma wafts through on occasion, warming to offer some faint cherry and dried fruit.

Flavor blasts the palate with smoked malts initially but this dissipates quickly as the pour breathes a bit. Flavor is light in roasted malts after that and with a light background of smoke. Feel is somewhat thin but pleasant and offers a lightly viscous feel thanks to a bit of cherry liqueur feel. Easy drinking though a bit unexciting and a bit sweet without food given the lackluster finish.

Poured into a mug,
The appearance was a fairly nice looking dark brown close to black color with a finger's worth of white foamy to bubbly head that softened at a mild pace. Some lace ran here and there.
The aroma had a fine blend of roasted coffee beans and grounds with some dark fruits and a mild dark chocolate nib-like bitterness.
The flavor was mildly sweet with a fair roastiness rolling all about. Nice aftertaste of the dark fruits and dark chocolate with some toast/dark bread.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied - seemed a bit more sessionable on the body for a stout to me. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate. Fairly smooth sort of finish with a mild roastiness.
Overall, aromas and flavors were very nice for an English stout, but seemed just a touch under in body. Still, it would probably be one that I would have again.

Pours a soapy, tan head. Aroma is acidic, roasted malt. Black color. Starts with toasted malt and a touch of biting acidity. Moves into a very coffee-like flavor as the grainy hop bitterness melds with the toasted malt. Finish is grainy hops and toasted malt with an undertone of coffee.

This ain't too shabby. It's a bit thin for my preferences, but it has an overall nice flavor profile.
