Part of the mixed 12 pack. Pours a dark brown color, tannish head. Medium bodied, decent mouthfeel. Some decent roastiness, sweet and creamy, good finish. A little bit lacking on taste, a little bland but still a decent to pretty good stout that won't let you down, or knock your socks off either.

12 oz bottle into DFH snifter

A - Pours a dark brown with a finger of tan head that dissipates rapidly.

S - Nice roast aromas and some chocolate. The nose is the best part of the beer. A bit of dark fruit shows up at is warms.

T - The roast from the nose, plus some chocolate and a finish that includes a slight dark fruit flavor.

M - Too light. Carbonation makes itself known. It's fairly light and very wet. I like my stouts to have at least a medium body.

D - Not bad at all. It goes down smoothly. Mouthfeel is underwhelming and disappointing, but I like the nose and the taste is good enough. For only about $1 a bottle it is a fairly decent stout to stock in your fridge regularly.

Looks the part with a very dark brown hue with ruby highlighting. A creamy one inch light tan head, but it didn't seem to want to stick around long. Molasses and bitter chocolate in the nose. Bitter chocolate is the most potent flavor. It then fades into a roasted coffee. The flavor is quite nice, but it's just too thin for me. I'd drink it again.

Poured into a stange glass. No freshness or bottling date on bottle.

Pours with two fingers of dark tan head over a dark chocolate body that shows deep red highlights when held to light. Moderate lacing.

Roasted malts with a bit of bakers chocolate paired with some subtle hops. Smells sweet and rather fresh.

Dark molasses is prominent in the flavor, more so than any other stout I have tried. Dark roasted malts are small in the flavor and provide no chewiness, but are present and add to the flavor. Some hops show up which is a nice touch. There is a certain synthetic chocolate syrup flavor in this beer that I have never tasted before... it isn't a bad thing either. The taste dries out nicely in the aftertaste.

Feels a bit thin for a stout- would be right on for a porter. Adding to this sensation is a little too much carbonation which feels forced rather than natural. Some warming and swirling fixed that some, lending a smoother drinking experience but not bulking up the body at all. Drinkabiliy is average.

Conclusion: This is a fun stout that for better or worse tastes a little different that any other I have tried. I am a huge fan of being a little unique while sticking to tradition, and I feel that this stout does just that. If only it were a bit thicker and the carbonation was more compact.

Pours one finger of tan head with decent retention. Aromas of dark malt: I get a lot of dark chocolate and iced coffee roastiness. Taste is well balanced, with semi-sweet chocolate and light char, but neither note is very strong; its intensity is very muted. As seems to be the case with most Genesee beers, there's nothing wrong with it but I would prefer that its elements were louder and prouder.

A- Pours a dark brown color with a fairly short tan head. Head has little retention leaves just a bit of lacing.

S- Smell is coffee, caramel and a bit of chocolate. Far from anything over the top and pretty tame overall.

T- Not quite what I expected, but actually better than I thought. A fairly tame stout with a pretty good taste. Taste is a bit of chocolate, bit of coffee and an Earthy feel to it.

M- Heavier side of medium just barely and light on the carbonation.

D- Not too bad to drink and actually better than I thought. I'd say that there are much better out there. I'd also say that this may fall under the "beginner stout."

Into a nonic:

A: pitch black body that gives a tan lumpy two finger head that rises just a bit and settles down and leaves a light bit of foamy lacing. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising.

S: sweet roasty notes of chocolate with some light coffee in the background.

T: sweet and roasty with the malts combined very nicely. The alcohol does come out in the taste as the beer warms.

M: mostly light with some carbonation felt on my tongue.

O: I might have this again but its nothing to jump up and down about to need.
