Enjoyed from the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This nice ale pours a clear light amber with a moderate head of white foam that settles to a thin ring, thin layer, and light lacing. Nose of light honey malts, grassy hops, and little else. Flavors follow with light sweet honey touched malts and grassy hops on the rear with a light touch of grains on the aftertaste. Decent mouth feel, crisp, medium carbonation, and a moderately clean finish. Overall a good session ale.

Dundee English-Style Ale | Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this beer's head is three fingers thick and off-white, with lateral lacing, and a clear medium amber body.

Smells like biscuit malts and lively, grassy grains.

I taste much of the elements of the scent along with a "nutty" flavor profile that so many UK beers are known and loved for. Very delicious, indeed, with an easy-going drinkability.

The mouthfeel here is crisp and clean.

Overall, I'll rate Dundee English-Style Ale | Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. with a 4.5. This came part of the Dundee variety pack, so pick that up if you're interested in giving this a whirl.

If you're looking to find this beer by itself you won't find it. You can only get it by buying their Craft Pack. 12oz brown bottles with no freshness date.

The beer poured a cloudy caramel color with a 1-finger white head that dissipated within a minute and left very little lacing.

Not much aroma to this. Faint toffee small and that's about it.

Slightly sweet caramel flavor with a bit of fruit in there as well. Mild bitterness.

Medium body and medium carbonation.

Just an average ale that's easy to drink and goes down smooth.

Pours a shade lighter than caramel, with a 2 finger head that rapidly diminishes to a ring of stable fluff. Opacity is 10%.

Aroma is of baked malts, apple cores, toffee, and barley wort. Very little detectable hop in the aroma.

Taste is actually quite delicious and crisp. It's extremely malty, especially for any type of pale ale, but I enjoy it. After a few sips the shine wears off though, and I grow tired of it. Off flavors would include soy sauce, touches of vinegar, and old discarded pine air fresheners.

Feel is super crisp, tight, and refreshing. I really enjoy the feel on this one.

Overall this English Style Ale isn't half bad for beer in general. If you're expecting a pale ale with outstanding bitterness or dashes of onion or pine, forget it. This one drinks more like a malty pilsner and actually comes together quite nicely for the first quarter of the beer. After that, it grows dull and boring and the mouthfeel is the only thing saving it.

A smooth ale with a nice golden colour. Smells mostly of yeast and tastes like wheat with caramel notes. Goes down very easily, overall not bad but not really anything special about this beer.

Pours an orangish-gold color into a typical pint glass with a 2 finger head. Plenty of carbonation. Smells citrusy. Initial taste also has notes of citrus, hops, yeast. Lacing is very good as well. Finish is slightly dry, but crisp. Overall a very enjoyable brew.

Part of sampler pack.

L- medium golden color
S- can't identify much... can smell bitterness, not much else
T- a little bitter. Faint hint of citrus, maybe orange?
F- on the thin side, goes down easy

Nothing special, but I don't mind it.

Nice looking honey amber beer. Decent but quickly diminishing head which leaves little lacing. Not much on the nose..mostly a slight alcohol aroma. Big buttery flavor both upfront and in the middle, followed by a slightly soapy (very mild) hop tinge at the end. Some light, toasted maltiness is present. Not incredibly complex, but nicely balanced. Lighter than I expected. Extremely drinkable, enjoyable.. just not challenging or memorable..which is fine. Not every beer needs to be a mind-blowing revelation, ya know? For better or worse, I will be drinking more of this because craft beer prices in Maine (at least where I live) suck. A variety 12 pack of this costs $11.99, whereas a 12 pack of brews I might enjoy more cost $14.99-17.99, and in my financial situation, that's an acceptable trade-off. The next step down would be a macro, which is nowhere near in the same league as this stuff, or anything else I've tried from Dundee.

Tasted like a pint you quickly order at a pub whilst waiting for your buddies because you know you'll be drinking hard and you don't want to over do it with a great or heavy beer. It wasn't bad, but very forgettable.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/8/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, plum, pear, apple, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, plum, pear, apple, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, plum, pear, apple, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a great crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a good English pale ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Disagree with others who felt that this is a flavorful beer. For me, initial flavor is malty/biscuit with limited other flavors, although did note some clove finish. Not as much bitterness as I would have liked. Overall ho hum, would not buy again, but was not so bad that I couldn't finish it.

Pours a very clear light mahogany color with a big fat head that had average
retention but some pretty decent clinging lace.
SMELL: Very sweet malts, toffee and buttery caramel and a little herbal peppery spice.
TASTE: Malty, with some caramel, nutty. Still sweet, yet dry at the finish.
Clean, creamy with a moderate body.
Looking at other scores, surprised at how low they are. IMO this is a beer that easily is better than just OK. To each their own.

This was a surprise I found in a sampler pack, pour showed a dark golden color with a small white head...head faded but some nice lace hung around. Smell was rich and full of malty hints, taste followed and some Carmel notes came out as it warmed. A nice medium mouthfeel shows a solid English-Style Ale for the brand...I'd pick up a 6 of this for sure.

Pours slightly cloudy, caramel color. Small head dissipates quickly. Flavors of lemon give way to cloves. Heavily carbonated. Bitter aftertaste. A very good, balanced and full-flavored beer.

Dundee English-Style Ale brewed by Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. This brew has an ABV 5.10% English-Style Ale pours out a nice light brown color with a small white head. I really like the look of this brew. This is a filtered brew you can see right thought it. The smell of Dundee English-Style Ale rich with grains , malts, and some hops. You pick up on some sweetness, in the smell of this brew. Now for the taste it it, bold with flavor. You also pick up on the malts and grains in the taste of this brew. The mouthfeel of Dundee English-Style Ale is nice, clean, smooth, and mild. This is one of the more smoother Pale Ale's I have had. it is hard to pick up on the 5.10% ABV in this brew. There is nothing overpowering in this brew, Dundee English style Ale has a real nice balance to it. I would buy this brew again. Overall I'm giving Dundee English-Style Ale a 4.5 out of 5. Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. did a nice job with this one.

Bottle label data: none noted

Apricot-hued body with a thick, frothy, white head. Mild caramel and toffee aroma. Warm, hearty bread flavor; subtle fruitiness; well-balanced hop bitterness. Medium body, leaning towards the heavy side; chewy.

A nice, warm, malt forward beer. There is a nice residual sugar component that adds a subtle sweetness without any cloying elements. Very respectable...

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, there was no "best by" date that I could find.

APPEARANCE: pours a slightly hazy golden/orange color with one finger off-white head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin broken layer of bubbles, there was very little lacing on the glass, medium carbonation.

SMELL: sweet toffee, roasted malt, a slight metallic smell, very subtle to the nose.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, sweet toffee, roasted malt and a slight metallic hop profile, a mild somewhat watery beer.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation, somewhat creamy.

OVERALL: this is not a bad beer but nothing special, paid $9.99 for a sampler 12 pack. For the price would but it again.

Another poor offering from Dundee. I got a variety pack and this is the worst of the lot. It tastes like nothing. Seriously, nothing. So if you're looking for lame cheap beer that tastes like nothing then this is the one for you!

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present, acquired this as part of the variety twelve pack, on sale at the local Jewel-Osco for $10.99. Expectations aren't great considering what it is, but I have high hopes.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - Pours a murky golden orange colored body with some light sediment in the glass. Just under a finger of frothy white head that leaves good thick lacing scattered lacing.

S - The aroma is herbal, bitter, & malty. Notes of twigs, earth, apples, & pears. Crisp, earthy, and appealing.

T - Taste follows the nose - herbal / twiggy, caramel malt, apples / pears / peaches / cream. Simple in it's approach, but it is actually quite tasty when it comes down to it. Mildly estery, with some very minor alcohol content noticeable.

M - The feel is fruity, appley, and malty. Light bodied with good carbonation.

S-Not much to it, slight earthiness

T-Earthy hops and roasted malts, pretty dry though

Golden and a little cloudy with a light head. Slight metallic smell and maybe a little malty. Slightly metallic and sweet with notes of coriander and a malty aftertaste. Lightly effervescent with a little bite. There's not a lot to this beer. Like the rest of the beers in the sampler pack, it's fairly uninteresting and has a slight metallic taste. It's drinkable but as satisfying as a good craft beer should be.

This is a nice English Ale.. Perhaps a bit sweet, but has a nice smell, and the carbonation dances on the tongue... Nice crispy sweetness likeness to a Crisp sweet apple. The smell-taste experience is a cross between a tart Macintosh apple and a sweet cider.. I like Dundee Beers/Ales... And the price is ... a bargain for the flavour experience and sensory pleasure from a adjunct mass produced company.. Another nice win for Dundee... !!!

A- slightly hazy copper with a small white head leaving lots of lace

S- bread, berries, grass, dried fruit, toffee. It seems like these should work but it comes through as a muddled sweet smells mess

T-similar to the nose but fruitier with a bit of bubblegum character.

M- fairly thin and prickly. The dryness keeps the toffee and fruit flavors from coming through as sweet but there's not enough bitterness to balance. Finishes with a metallic toffee flavor.

O- a pretty poor attempt at the style. A muddled mix of something that I wouldn't recognize as overly British.
