Im having this beer just right now.The honey taste is light.the mouthfeel is very good but if i was in bar i would not ask for a beer this sweet. Is good if you are just having one.i really like the color of this beer is like dark gold but not to dark for my taste.

Despite the fact that this beer has a low rating, i think it really great. This is not at all a typical american lager like bud or coors. This beer has a mild sweet taste that is very smooth much like all lagers and an almost creamy aftertaste that will please any mouth. This is one of my favorite session lagers and i highly suggest it.

12 oz bottle with no freshness date.

A- Dusty golden color with a decent lace.

S- Sweet aroma, more malt than honey ... almost smells like processed honey essence.

T- Weak and watery malt, mild sweetness with a husky finish. Faint hop does nothing to flavor and barley balances.

M- Light crispness, a tad slick on the palate.

D- This beer is easy to drink though the sweetness was getting to me after a while.

A cult classic and a decent stepping stone from macro lagers to perhaps craft beer one day.

Honey Brown Lager brewed by Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. This brew has an ABV of 4.50% This brew pours out a nice Light Brown color, with a nice white head. The smell is light but it is bold. But you do pick up grains and malts. There is also a nice sweetness to the smell of this brew. The taste is smooth and rich. You pick up on the grains and malts in the taste of this brew. There is also a nice nice sweet malt aftertaste to this brew. The mouthfeel is rich, bold and fill of flavor. Dundee Original Honey Brown Lager has a nice balance to it. There is nothing overpowering about this brew. Overall Dundee Original Honey Brown Lager is a good drinkable brew. I like how this brew goes down smooth. Honey Brown Lager is a full bodied beer. I'm giving Dundee Original Honey Brown Lager a 4.25 out 5. This is a nice drinking brew. I would buy this brew to change it up for the main steam brews on the market. I like how Honey Brown Lager is different from most brews on the market. Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co., did a nie job with this one.

The Honey Brown is a consistent smooth beer that will satisfy the average beer drinker, and should keep the beer snob moderately happy. It has a medium to light bodied brown ale taste with a semi-strong malty flavor (no doubt the honey). It is sweeter than most Lagers but not overbearing. If you do not mind a lager with a hint of sweetness, it will be a good choice. However, if a Yuengling is too sweet for you, stay away.

Probably the beer that got me interested in beer.
I sought this beer out only to find it on tap about 16 years ago.
Loved it.. even craved it.

Fast forward 2014.... Not the same beer, Honey finish is gone and its now just a below average lager.
I'm guessing bigger breweries bought them out.

Very disappointed.

It's the craft beer you drank in high school, before you knew what craft beer was. It was a great alternative to Red Dog or Ice House. I read some of the reviews and almost lost my shit when I read someone poured it into a tulip glass. I'm drinking a tall boy of it as I write and all I can say is, I've had a lot worse and a lot better.

Found this at the beer store down the street. Very light for a brown beer. Sweet, smooth, and delicious! Definite session beer. Thanks Genny! Cheers!

Appearance – Bright orange in color with a decent head.

Smell – This smells like a typical American macro (without the skunk, thankfully). The grain is unrefined and a bit musty with no quality sweetness or balancing hops.

Taste – There’s a very slight taste of honey here that kind of smoothes things out, but otherwise this is American grain and sucrose with a dash of table sugar.

Mouthfeel – Lightly carbonation and medium to light in the body.

Drinkability – This is definitely not one that I’d buy again, but it was just good enough to keep out of the sink.

This beer is very sweet and easy to drink. I was actually expecting worse tried it only for review sake.

Appearance: Pours clear light brown with a quick fade whit head that lea a spotty frothy cap and moderate lace.

Smell: Sweet sugary syrupy malt and honey.

Taste: Crisp and light with and approachable with a touch of sticky honey flavor and grain, malt and a light grass hop.

Mouthfeel: Thin light body with a bit too much carbonation but bearable.

Drinkability: I really wouldn't want to drink too many of these there are soooo many better drews.

This is another good effort from our hometown brewer. It's more popular in othe places than here. It's unfortunate that folks rarely enjoy or notice what's sitting right in front of their noses.

It is a very nice amberish presentation, with a hint of sweetness, more from a gentle hopping than anything else. It's very nice. So nice in fact, that it'll even walk the dog or take out the trash.

I would recommend it if you like this kind of thing, because you shouldn't throw you money at BudMillerCoors if you can help it.

This is a wonderful beer that you will enjoy. Get over the Honey thing, it's really not that sweet.

Lucky review #200 for this beer.

This one actually looks pretty good. Very shiny, vibrant, darker-golden hue. Small head floats on the surface and forms a ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell is lacking. Like an american macro lager with some artificial honey-like scent on top.

Tastes much like it smells. Like Budweiser with honey flavoring added. The mouthfeel burns at first, in that macro lager kind of way, but then it smooths out quickly, which is a relief.

The only other honey lager I have had is Young's Waggledance, and comparatively speaking, that is much better, but this beer is really not all that bad. If they ironed out the burning sensation it gives your mouth, this would be an above-average beer, in my book.

The only thing brown about this beer is part of the name. The highly enjoyable honey flavour and ease of drinkability are the real highlights of this brew. An excellent session beer and perahps a nice baby-step beer for drinkers who can't let go of their mainstream lagers/pils.

Presentation: Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: It has a golden amber color with excellent clarity. The head is thick and white in color. It hangs on for a short time and recedes to a thin cap that leaves very little lacing.

Smell: There is a sweet bread malt aroma with some honey.

Taste/Mouth feel: It has a simple bready malt flavor with some sweetness from the honey. The hops are light and add just a hint of bitterness to the finish, which is crisp and clean. The texture is refreshingly smooth with a light to medium body and an average carbonation.

Notes: Honey brown is very refreshing, clean and simple. Not bad at all for the price.

It gets that high overall because when I was a wee lad drinking underage this beer was a staple. Strange to think that in a state where great beer was everywhere honey brown was a classic cooler filler. Might have had to due with the fact that girls loved it.

12 ouncer with no freshness dating. Very light for a "brown" beer. Very clear. Medium bubble head that does leave some lacing. This is sweet, insipid stuff. Thin, watery brew. Light wiff of malt on the nose and the palate. Not enjoyable stuff, pass it by, alot of more worthwhile brew out there.

The beer was clear and light brown. There was a small head that faded, but left a little lacing on the glass. There was almost no carbonation visible.

The smell was pretty weak, but you could catch a little sweet honey.

The taste was very mild, semisweet. It was smooth and had a light bitterness at the end. Not a beer I would drink again if I had a choice.

Pours a light honey orange, with a big head that fades fast to a thin fuzzy white laece.

Not much to the aroma. If there's honey in it, I can't pick it up here. Smells like plain old beer.

Tastes pretty smooth. Again, I can't seem to locate the honey, but it's a nice balanced lager. Not a lot of hops, but it still has a nice bitter smack to it.

Mouthfeel is middle of the road. Slightly closer to light than heavy.

Terribly under-rated beer, that is actually quite drinkable. I hadn't had one in quite a while, and I was bit surprised at how smooth and balanced it is.
