Pours blonde and fizzy, with a small head and no lacing.

Very slight grassy hops and sweet grainy malt. It's super drinkable but not really anything to write home about. A bit more hop character and this would be really nice.

Genesee 12 Horse Ale - Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. Poured from the squatter bottle into a pint glass, this brew's got a 1/4 finger thick white head that dissipates quickly, no lacing, and a clear medium golden body.

I smell sweeter malts with a touch of earthiness. No hop bitterness is present in the aroma.

The taste here is sweeter malts, yes. No hop presence is showing up. This is a very well balanced brew despite that.

Mouthfeel is clean and smooth. Nothing about this beer lingers.

Overall a 4 for Genesee 12 Horse Ale - Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. I vwould choose this over regular Genny any given day. I had my good friend nicholas2121 flow me a few bottles upon returning his visit in Rochester this past week. So thank you for the fine brew, mate.

Got a small glass at the brewery. Looked quite flat and pale yellow. Taste of faint maltiness and hoppiness, yet they complement each other nicely. Bready aftertaste. Not a bad beer actually, can see myself drinking this in a hot summer day.

I opened one and I am getting a headache while drinking it. It tastes like the smell you get when you solder copper pipes. Don't buy this stuff.

Again, something different from Genny. Hard to find, but worth getting when it's available. Love the bottles. Every now and then, they are distributed in a 12-pack stubbies with Genny, Genny Cream Ale, and the twelve-horse. Haven't seen it lately, but I keep my eye out for it.

Presentation: 12 oz brown twist with no freshness date to be found.

Appearance: Vivid and clear light golden hue donning a thin wispy tiny bubbled white lace.

Smell: Vague and ghost like fruitiness, perhaps from the mild esters in the nose. Both hops and malt are evident in the aroma.

Taste: Light bodied, crisp mouth feel and a pronounced carbonation. With in the crispness comes a tingling hop bitterness and alcohol bite mix. Ghost like lemon flavour hits as well as fermented grain. A balanced twang from the hops leaves ample bitterness for the thinnish malt palate, white cracker like maltiness seems to be the sole malt flavour in this brew. On the dry side with a clean finish.

Notes: A no frills American light ale, easy drinking and non-offensive … a no brainer of a beer, a beer to drink and not have to think about what you are drinking.

This is an ale? If I hadn't read the bottle, I would swear this is a lager. Nice bronze/copper color. Head? Fugedaboudit. A whif of apple/grape in the aroma, with that as the initial flavor. A touch of hops bat cleanup. Is this good? No. Is it bad? No. Very much a macro flavor profile, reminds me of some of the Canadian lagers. Goes in the lawnmower beer category.

This tastes more like a lager than an ale to me. A very clean, crisp, not particularly interesting tasting beer. The packaging leads me to believe that one of the big 3 is behind this brew, but I couldn't find any clues that this is the case. Very light aroma and flavor. Not an offensive brew, but rather boring.

Pours with a white two-fingered head that fades slowly and leaves a lot lace. Light, clear amber color. Light carbonation and light bodied. Lightly hopped mixed with some malt, seems watery, some sweetness a boring lawnmower ale. $1.25 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, Ma.

A good light ale to drink ice cold. For my taste It becomes a tad too sweet when it warms. A little more hops might balance this brew out.

My brother inlaw got me this as a birthday gift so I feel I need to drink at least one.Poured into a standard pint glass a clear medium golden with a nice looking white fluffy head that settled very slowly leaving a few globs behind.Alot of sweet corn in the nose with a little metallic quality, adjucts abound. The flavors were not awful wich I have to admit I was expecting, somewhat sweet with some caramel notes,a decent crisper toasted bread finish. It's not as bad as I thought it it would be but it's not anything to write home about either.

From the stubby little bottle, served in a footed pilsner, this beer is crystal clear and golden. The head is small...a slim white film. The aroma is cereal grains and grass. No real malt smell, and little hop aroma. The taste is better than expected...not as dry as I thought it would be. Cereal and grainy, corn, but also a little barley malt flavor. Not much bitterness, but some hop in the very background. The mouthfeel is light, almost watery. Not a great beer.

Medim amber in color. Nice lace and head, though quickly dissappates. Smooth in flavor with slight sweet malt flavor. Rich hoppy aftertaste compliments and rounds out this brew. A good beginner macro ale. Better than most imposters out there.
