I thought I was getting a beer from Europe (I quess I should read labels better) . Poured a reddish color with white head. Smell rtends toward burnt sugar with a light maltiness. Taste is moderate with a tendency towards sweetness. Not a bad session beer.

A nice copper/amber color woth a moderate tan head that disipates fairly quickly to just a ring but still manages a bit of lacing.
The aroma is malty, caramel, bread, and hints of spicy hops.
The taste is similar, starts out mildly sweet with a nice malt backbone - bready, with caramel and hints of apple. The finish is slightly dry and sour with a mild herbal hops bite.
Medium bodied and fairly smooth, decently drinkable, best ice cold.

Appearance: A brown/red color with a small head that left a decent lace. It was as clear as daylight.
Smell: Malty with a tiny spicy hop note to it. It smell fairly sweet.
Taste: Taste was malt upfront, it almost tasted like a brown ale. There was a decent hop precesnce that made me like it. A very nice brew. It was very well balanced. There however, was a slight tinny taste to it.
Mouthfeel: The body was slightly thin and carbonated well. There was nothing here that stuck out.
Drinkablity: This was pretty good. Everything was pretty average about this brew and it was pretty drinkable.

The beer pours a dark amber color with a thin off-white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a nice light malty scent generated with the use of pale and crystal malts. It has little hop aroma, but it seems a bit dry. The taste is decent. It has a weak malt flavor, with a dry watery finish. It does go down easy, but it lacks a little flavor to go along with the aroma. The mouthfeel is decent. This is a low bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a decent drinking beer. It has good aroma and appearance, but the taste is lacking a bit.

This beer was the second keg to grace our house Keg-o-rater, and I must admit that for a good simple summer beer, this one is actually quite refreshing. Its by no means a sophistocated beer, nor is there a whole lot to the smell or taste of it (smell being almost undetectable besides some wheats and the taste being a simple blend of understated malts and yeast) but despite this I actually enjoy drinking this. It goes down incredibly smooth and it just feels right drinking this beer on a hot summer night watching a ball game or sitting on the porch. And who can argue with drinking local, eh? High Falls baby!

This light orange amber colored beer packed a lot of carbonation, and formed a three finger foamy head over 8 oz. of beer in the pint glass. It smells mostly of club soda like forced carbonation, and has little bit of honey on the nose too. It tasted very bland with a nondescript caramelized maltyness, and a strong bite of CO2. Noticeable hop bitterness was present in the aftertaste. Body was decently thick and mouthfeel creamy. An average amber ale all around.

Usually when I drink an Irish amber they are either not flavorful enough or have too much flavor and the flavors don't mix well. That wasn't the case for this one. It was very easy to drink, very clean. If I want to drink more than a couple in one night, this would be a good choice. The flavors are mild, but not weak. It has a medium body to it which fits perfectly. Toasted biscuit is there along with some malty caramel sweetness. Hops are light but show themselves in the finish. Not too little, not too much, this beer finds a good fit for an Irish amber.

In the spirit of Macrobrewed Ambers, this beer travels a few inches beyond its look-a-like, Killians Red. Pours a redish/brown with little to no head. At first taste, the only thing I could remember was its carbonation. Second taste was a little more interesting. At the onset, it tasted like a cheap lager with a strange woody flavor. I had no traces of an aftertaste. This beer may do better as a tap beer.

I had this once some time ago and remember being very unimpressed. I couldn't remember why, so I gave it another shot. Same reaction, and now I know why: it simply sucks all around. Many comparisons have been drawn to Killian's, but I would much rather pick Killian's any day over this. Maybe I had a bad bottle (twice though?), but this is horrible beer. If I'm at someone's house and all they have is Bud or Coors Light or something, I will drink it, although I never buy it. However, choosing between macro and this, I will choose macro. This is absolutely avoidable.

Genesee's quality has done nothing but go up in the last few years. Killians pales by comparison. The dark amber colour is topped off with a light white head that disipates to a nice thin lace. The smell of malt and the lack of adjucts in the smell isn't something one would normally expect from a macro. The taste is malty with the slightest hop taste. I think this is a great beer with potential to take on even its biggest competitors.

It pours a deep amber, clear, with a light tan, creamy head that falls quickly to a few isthmi of sparse foam. There is very little lacing, if any.
The aroma brings a presence of malt with a tinge of caramel and toffee. The smell is clean, almost too clean, as though it's been sterilized.
The flavor first brings a sweeling of malt, though surprisingly unsweet and short-lived. There's a caramel flavor mixed throughout, and a very distant dry hint of hops at the finish.
It's quite light bodied with no real texture, just short of water really. The feel comes off as flat.
It's not heinous, not even close, but there's nothing serious here to recommend. The lack of assertive flavor is compounded by very low carbonation. There's just not enough going on here to keep my attention. Due to the light body and overall lack of offensiveness it is certainly drinkable, but with so much better available it's hard to imagine coming back for another round.

Longhorn orange with a rim of tangerine along the bottom edge of the glass. Although the beige cap could be a mite bigger, it looks decent enough, at least initially. It falls too quickly though and leaves the glass completely untouched. The beer looks more Oktoberfestish than EDLish to me, but then there's a good bit of overlap with a lot of styles.
The nose is pretty much what I expected since I expected it to smell like a Euro Pale Lager, only more malty and less hoppy. Underpowered and uninteresting. Barely toasted malt is the sum total of the nose with no accessory aromas to pull it out of the strictly average range.
I'll be kind and acknowledge that the flavor is a small step up in terms of quality, but we're not talking great beer here. Michael Shea's benefits by being on the sweet side and tastes like an Irish Amber (whatever that is) or an Irish Red ought to taste like. Where Euro Dark Lager came from, I'll never know.
This is pretty simple stuff though. There's very little depth of flavor and no complexity whatsoever. I'm tempted to knock the taste score back a half notch, but it's such a friendly, unassuming, easy to drink beer that I think I'll stay with my first impression. There's little trace of the Galena and Mt. Hood hops that are supposed to be present, not even on the finish where a little hoppy bitterness tends to show itself most readily.
The body/mouthfeel doesn't help the flavor profile's cause and probably even harms it. It's way too light, even for the style, and edges into aqueous on the back end. A lack of bubbles contributes to the lackluster feel (if a lack of something can be said to contribute anything at all).
I don't remember much about Killian's Red, but Michael Shea's Irish Amber strikes me as a similar beer, in concept at least. A light, sweet, easy to consume offering aimed at those macro drinkers who want to try something a little different and want to look like they're drinking a cool Irish import in the process. Lovers of truly good beer won't find much to like.

So I guess the cool thing to do is to compare it to killians. It pours a nice red color but the head last liek half a second and it looks thin. The smell is sorta sweet and so is the taste. This is a pretty good irish ale. Nice and caramelly with some tight malts. I approve of this for the price. kicks killians ass.

This beer pours a nice golden amber color with a small tan head. It smells pretty good, with caramel and malt being the main things present. It had a good caramel taste, with a little bit of bitterness.. very good flavor I thought.. The mouthfeel was nice and creamy, very enjoyable. I think this is a very drinkable beer, especially since a 6 pack is 5 dollars.

Purchased from Great Spirits, Huntsville, AL.
A: Pours orange-amber color with thick white frothy head, almost like whipped cream on coffee. Good impressions on appearance.
S: Strongly malty aroma, slight notes of apples and a hint of hops. Perhaps cherries deep in the background?
T: Notes of apples, a bit of light malt. Slightly cloying and astringent on the back-end. Not much going on, but nothing really unpleasant here.
M: Slightly foamy, interesting mouthfeel. Moderate thickness. No carbonation noticeable.
D: A bit blah, but not really a bad beer at all. Goes down smooth. There are lots of beers that I'd turn away for this one.

12 oz. with no freshness date. Pours into the imperial pint glass a dark reddish brown with a 2 finger head that leaves little lacing. Nose is sweet - malts, diacetyl, caramel, and a hint of bubblegum. Tastes like English muffins, cardboard, diacetyl, and caramel with some hop bitterness. The beer is light, flavorful, and goes down easy, but something about the taste doesn't sit well with me. Could drink a few in a session but not a whole 6 pack.

Poured a warm reddish-amber with decent head and lacing down the glass.
Aroma is slightly floral and hoppy with the slightest spiciness. Taste is smooth and caramel-like, with minor hop bite and virtually no bitterness. Repeated sips seem to suggest an earthy or grassy aspect...it is very mild.
Drinkability is decent. This is a pretty pleasant brew, considerably better than Killian's, say, but not impressive enough to go above 4 ratings on anything.

Out of a 12 oz bottle, I think it was around $8 for a 12 pack.
Poured into a pint glass, has a nice red color. Typical for an "amber" but not as yellow as actual amber, much more red/orange. 1/2 inch of head that dissipated quickly but left nice lacing. Very small bubbles swimming up to the top. A handsome beer.
Very mild smell, like cocoa or raw chocolate but a teeny bit sour.
A fairly mild taste as well. Coppery, with definite burnt malts and some sour (increasingly so as it warms, yuck by the end of the beer) citrusy taste at the end that may be some mild hops. Well balanced -- not much there, but it's not bad.
Mouthfeel is a little weak, medium carbonation quickly gives way to a watery feeling.
This a beer you could drink until you passed out, if you don't mind the simplicity. No overwhelming aftertaste, goes down the hatch very quickly.
I'd drink this one pretty cold -- I may have made a mistake by taking it out of the fridge and letting it sit for 15 minutes on a warm day.
This beer is the epitome of inoffensiveness. There's nothing exciting going on and nothing that will impress you, but it's very nice and harmless. Great for macro drinkers, and better than some other ambers that cost a lot more. In fact, for the price, High Falls turned out a pretty decent beer.
