Live Review, 24 oz can from the corner gas. I'm not putting it in a glass because I more or less know what this would look like.

S- I'm sniffing it from the can, but not getting much of anything. It doesn't smell bad. In fact, it doesn't taste like anything.

T- It tastes about the same as it smells. Almost no flavor except a light (very light) "beer" flavor. Some odd sourness on the finish. Watery, and no corny adjunct flavor, which is what I expected. It's fizzy and cold and I'd love this in the summer on the lawnmower. Otherwise it's not really for me.

O- I'll try it again when on an extreme budget. It's between a dollar and 1.25 for a 24 oz, or 13.50 for a 30 rack, partially because it's the local poison for me. Definitely will take this over a regular Genny too, it has less of that flavor. (Usually not a good thing, but you see what I mean.)

Genny Light brewed by Genesee Brewing Co in New York State. This brew pours out a nice amber color with a thick white head. This brew is darker than your average American Light Lager beer. Not saying that is a bad thing. This brew also has a smell of grains, and malts. There is also a hit of hops in the smell of this brew. Nothing bad about the smell of this brew. The taste of this brew is light, there is not much there. A hint of sweet and water, and that is about it. There is some nice notes of grains and malts but it is light. For this brew being darker than other light beers out there, there is not much there. But this brew has an abv of 3.60. While most other American Light lagers are about 4.2 abv. I'm not impressed by this beer. This beer could be so much more. There is nothing bad about this beer, but really nothing to write home about either. If you like light beer then you may like this brew. Overall I'm giving Genny Light a 3 out of 5. I would buy this brew again.

16 FL. OZ. can
Served in a pilsner glass

A - This gem pours straw yellow and clear. It is topped with two to three inches of white head.

S - I get some grain and boiled greens in the smell.

T - The taste has some metallic and grass flavors. I'm happy that it has taste. Most light beers lack this component.

M - Thin

O - This light beer has more flavor than most macro lagers. Probably one of the more flavorful light beers out there.

Poured into a large Hacker-Pschorr mug.

The beer is a clear light copper color with slowly rising bubbles. A fizzy white head recedes to a white ring with a light film and light random lines of lacing. The aroma is of faint adjuncts, some corn, and a light malt sweetness. The beer tastes slightly metallic with a touch of sweetness. The mouthfeel is very carbonated and rough.

Overall, cheap and very low in ABV. Very rough, and admittedly the first time I tried this it was truly awful, but better the second time around, a few years later. Still one of the worst low end beers.

Bought a thirty can pack of this because it's from my hometown, was cheap, and at the time I wanted to diet. But asking myself to forego craft beer was too much, so 25 cans have been sitting since last spring.

Poured from the 12 oz. can into a Sanuel Smith English tulip pint.

a: Clear gold with tons of bubbles ascending to the top from the bottom, an inch tall white head receded slowly to rocky surface foam and considerable lacing.

s: Apples or some such light fruit. Later, more malty.

t: That light fruit, more subdued than the aroma. Later even that fades.

m: Light, bordering on watery. Carbonation continues to add some zing.

o: A decent light beer, not so bad with lunch, extremely sessionable at 3.6% ABV, but definitely not a go-to for flavor.

as the lousy cans of cheap beer go, I don't hate this one. it still looks, smells, and tastes like a beer, like it might contain the essential elements, and like it still might be brewed rather than mixed or synthesized or whatever they do to make the corn water these days. sudsy head surprises me, and the nonmetallic flavor profile suggests a level of quality a step or two above the others. real thin and watery feel, but it is a light lager after all. yeast helps it finish clean, no off putting flavors sticking around. easy enough drinking, if you can handle all the bubbles. but if its cola by day and cheap cans by night, this is your horse.
