Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.
Pours a hazy orange-red with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, earth, wood, and whiskey aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, caramel, and whiskey flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of wood bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a barrel aged presence that comes through slightly better in the taste.

so, I write the first review, but some other bozo gets credit for adding this beer? what the F***'s up with that??? does that steal my karma points away ??
but hey! this is a pretty good brew!!! red, as advertised. some good off-white head on top. very interesting aroma- malty sweet, some barrel in there and some hops. taste is very good also. sweet, malty, barrel-something, but very good.
oh wow! holy crap! this stuff is 10 1/2%... pretty damned good for 10 1/2% . . . . . website says 9%, but the bottle says 10.5%. lots o' malt, lots o' sweet yummy hops (yes I said THAT), probably because it really balance out well....
super dark red (pardon my out-of-order description) with a thin film of off-white, yellowish topping, but it really is a pretty picture (if you don't pour it into an already-used glass, like I did at first) such a superior flavor; this is very good!

Shared by Richard - thanks.
A: Pours a hazy amber under a 1/2-inch thick off-white head which fades to a thin cap and yields spotty lace.
N: Malty, caramel, whiskey, and some faint citrus notes.
T: Caramel, malty sweetness.
M: Moderate body and medium carbonation. Finishes fairly sweet with caramel and malt.
O: O.K., middle of the road. Would not seek this out.

Since I paid $25 for this 22oz bottle I really wanted to love it. Unfortunately I didn't even remotely like it.
It pours red with a thin white head.
Aroma is nice with a bit of honey and vanilla.
Sipped a small mouthful and rolled it around for a bit.
Mouth feel is thin.
Funky, slightly sweet, weird, cranky, bitter flavor - especially in the middle of the taste event.
Alcohol well hidden in the blend of bad unusual swirling crusty fungus taste,
Bitterness which lingers long after you get over the, "What was that ugghhh" taste.
Not a fan.
Sorry, but very disappointed.

Ironfire does it again with a superior blend of caramel malt-like flavor. This is extremely heavy for a red and the barrel age of the whiskey barrel finishes this off for a delicious treat. I compare it to Speakeasy Betreyal Red, but this is much better. Get it if you can find it.
