Confluence Brewing Company

Just south of downtown Des Moines, this is a larger place, mid sized regional brewery with ample parking.

Large tap room with room and tables for a big crowd. Mess of their own creations available on draft or cans to go. Loads of quality beers being made here, consumed here and taken to go here...I had an IPA draft, fresh and tasty and took a few fourpacks to go.

It was summer so the outside deck and multiple outdoor areas were lively and and full of folks having a great time...bike trails abound in this area...bikers and bikes and smiling faces everywhere...super fun spot to check out and visit, enjoy some high quality beers and get some to go...loved the vibe of this brewery....

Over in an industrial part of the city, away from downtown. This is a good sized brewery, of concrete, in which one walks a few corridors through the brewery, to get to a tall concrete, bare bones taproom. An organized, two point, counter order system, helps out the serving process. They have a good selection of their canned beer in windowed refrigerators, for sale next to the counter and at least a third of the customers come in just to get the canned beer to go. Overall the beer was of average quality. The favored of the 4 beers sampled was the Oktoberfest märzen.

 

Very large brewery with a big tap room with a lot of tables/seats. They even have a porch connected to the building where people riding bikes from street or trail can come in. They have a huge selection of many different types of beers to my surprise. I never really see a giant variety in that number in any brewery I go to. Service was very pleasant from sitting at the bar. Will definitely come back next time I’m in Des Moines

Great Beers with a great selections...

 

The brewery is just off the beaten path of downtown Des Moines, just to the south in an old warehouse off of a gravel road. Inside is a big clean brewery with an average length bar and a good selection of brews. Out the back is a medium sized deck with seating and a new patio below with more seating and abundant parking for bikes as it is right off of a bike trail. Awesome atmosphere, I highly recommend!

 

I enjoyed the tap room, they had a nice range of options and well-made beer. Cool location next to the bike trail, diverse crowd and clean facility. I took the tour and really enjoyed it - for $10 it came with cool tulip glass and draw of your choice (plus they were liberal with the “top it off” refill too). Staff behind the bar was nice and provided great service, but not the most knowledgeable about their beers. Overall a really nice place I’d visit again on future trips to Des Moines.

 

 

 

Hands down my favorite Des Moines brewery. Spacious and clean taproom, great selection of beer with rotating seasonals served by a great staff (who know their stuff)! Grays Lake Nessie, Southside Citra, and DSM IPA are my personal favorites. Very pleased that they are now canning. Cheers to Confluence!

 

Located in an industrial park. Large taproom with windows opening up to the large brewery operation. Service was not the friendliest but was efficient. Nice beer but I had a barrel-aged RIS that was easiest the worst beer I had during my time in the Des Moines area. The Scotch ale and milk stout were my personal favorites but the hoppy beers were enjoyable as well.

Brewery taproom, in the back of the building from the road, with a separate entrance in back from the adjacent bike trail. Vibe here was kind of sterile, large industrial space, high top tables, high ceilings. Large windows into the brewery. Bar in the back with seating for a dozen plus. Lots of kids and family groups on a Sunday, lots of cyclists taking a break from the nearby trail. Board games and local art on the wall.

Beer selection was good, 8-10 regular options plus 5 BA beers. Everything was on a large chalkboard high above the bar, BA beers had no descriptions or ABV listed. Had to ask about them, and the bartender wasn't really interested in talking about them. A second bartender was a little more friendly, but they weren't very talkative either.

Beer quality was good, save for a whisky barrel aged saison that was overly harsh and boozy. There was a good citra blonde and the BA Saison Des Moines was solid. I really liked the Fresh Start lager back in the Spring.

Overall it was a good experience but I didn't really feel like it was an essential stop.

A very good local brewery with a great location right off the bike trail. The staff is a little stand offish and the bartenders don't really seem to want to talk beer. The beers are all good to great, I'm a fan of the barley wine and BA stout, seriously BA Stavropol is worth seeking out. Overall it's one of my top 5 or so breweries in the area.

 

I had a few of the beers from this brewery at the Iowa State fair, and at other places. It has an interesting selection of beers, with decent quality, but nothing special. I fear the craft beer market will shrink one day, and this is a brewery that will become obsolete

 

Good beer, good service. Nice atmosphere. I like the location too, kinda on the outskirts of downtown. Only gripe is beer is slightly pricey in the stores.

 

 

 

 

Came on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Easy drive right up parking. Industrial setting with no traffic to speak of. Industrial bar with high ceilings and stone. Vibe very nice for all types, m kids had a Millstream root beer. Several beer offerings. Service was immediate and friendly. I would reccomend to anyone.

Nice up and coming brewery! the Des Moines IPA is def the best!
