V-The Souther Sun is located in South Boulder in a strip-mall type shopping center near Neptune Mountaineering. The place is medium sized with a small patio out front. The vibe is heavily hippy, but that seems to be fading as Boulder loses its hippies to the suburbanites. Now you'll just as many families as stoners in there.
Q-The beers are of moderate quality. There are some really good ones that appear every now and again, Hop Vivant for example, but others are less impressive. I have never had a bad beer from the Southern/Mountain Sun empire, but many of them just aren't that good. That being said, the beers pair well with the food.
Ser-The servers are almost always friendly, usually prompt, and mostly knowledgeable about the beer and food menu. They can get a little spaced out at times but I have never had one completely bullocks an order. They also offer multiple sizes and use appropriate glassware.
Sel-There are usually about a dozen Sun beers on tap and a few guest handles. It is one of the bigger selections for a brewery/brewpub in town, actually. Everything from Belgian styles to IPAs.
F-The food is probably the high point of the Sun empire. It is tasty, cheap, and made with lots of love. The offerings are mostly bar-type dishes, but the food never feels overly fried or fake like a lot of bars. I would eat here instead of the Rock Bottom everyday for example.
O-The Southern Sun is losing some of its hippy charm as the years march on, but it still serves its purpose as a friendly hangout with decent beer and good food.

This place is great. There is often live music and the company there is very friendly. The beer is some of the best around too. The food, although simple, is quite delicious. It is a great place to meet friends, drink beer and socialize.there is also a good selection of board games to play.

THere is always a snack that is satisfying on the menu and a beer that a bartender will explain to you. If you know what your tastes are, it's not hard to get somethiing that will appease. The atmosphere is fantastic with students familes and sounds abounding. Usually the doors are open with plenty of sunshine to compliment your beverage. I enjoyed going here to get homework done. It's true I never finished a major accomplishment while drinking at the Southern Sun but I sure did get over whatever rut I was facing. A little fun and a little work, I have never had a bad experience. Except when I got used to certain beer and the selection changed. Necessity is the mother of creation tho, and I would be forced to try something different. A friendly face always held my hand through the selection process.

Not too easy to spot from Broadway, this brewpub has the signature Boulder atmosphere. There are paintings on the walls from local artists, people playing boardgames, and sometimes, live music. There's also a distinct absence of televisions (which I'm fine with). The food is pretty good, and being in Boulder, there are a lot of vegetarian and organic options. Dollar taco night reigns supreme.
The staff is timely and relatively knowledgeable. The beer, while not world-class, is definitely above average.. I recommend getting a pint of Colorado Kind.
Overall, Southern Sun is a great place to hang out and grab a few pints.

This was one of my favorite bars in Boulder when I used to live there. The atmosphere is pretty good. It is very relaxed, and that is what I prefer when I am going out to have a brew. The service is acceptable. They have some really good deals; dollar taco night has yet to be beaten. Their beers are pretty cheap and pretty good, though not amazing, at $4.50 a pint. They have live music a lot, which is usually a plus. I would highly recommend checking this place out if you are in Boulder; it is a good representation of that town.
