16 oz can. Pours clear reddish amber with a medium light tan head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is malty fruitcake with some Belgian notes.

The flavor is sweet sugary caramel malts with dark fruit and some Belgian yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, very sweet malty Belgian. A bit too sweet for me.

L: Brilliant amber, 1” foam cap, off-white dissipates to thick film. S: not a big nose, slight funk, some caramel to a suggestion of chocolate.T: Fruity, plum, light fruits, grapes, smooth, slight sweetness, some caramel on the finish F: Medium to a little above on the body, medium carbonation. O: A decent beer but a little light on the Belgian yeast flavors – they are there but subdued – may need to ferment at a little higher temperature and use a dose of candi sugar to lighten the body a little.

On tap at HopCats in Grand Rapids.

Pour is dark mahogany with excellent clarity. Small but durable head leaves decent lacing.
The aroma is good but not quite true to style, and presages the taste. It is dominated by sweet and medium roast malts. Some spiciness but very little dark fruit. The taste follows, meaning this is a very Americanized dubbel; it is really much more like an Amer. or Irish red.

It's a dubbel, why would you expect a bunch of balancing hops???

From a 16-oz can it pours a brilliant, red-mahogany, with a 3/4 inch collar of tan foam that dissipates quickly. The nose suggests candy-sugar, caramel, yeast, raisins, clove, and wet metal. The body is a smooth, medium-light and provides a yeasty, fruit-cake, and slightly sour-noted lingering. The lingering is shorter than expected. There is some nice malty sweetness on the palate as well. The carbonation is light. No lacing to speak of.
