This is our take on the classic American pale ale. We use lightly roasted caramel malts to provide a pleasant mouth feel to accompany the citrus and tropical American hops we add. The hop additions are all made very late in the boil process to ensure a clean and refreshing finish. This beer pairs well with an afternoon by the pool in the company of friends and family.

A: Pours a relatively clear deep honey orange to copper in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and faint orange highlights. The beer has a four finger tall dense foamy beige head that reduces to a large half finger thick cap with a thin film covering the remainder oft he surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of toasted malts with a slightly stronger aroma of earthy and herbal hops with a hint of spicy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of toasted and caramel malts with a light amount of sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of earthy, spicy, and herbal hops which imparts a moderate amount of slightly harsh lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Hints of dryness in the finish.

O: Not one of my favorite APAs as the hops flavors are a bit harsh in it. Not the easiest to drink, takes a little effort to finish the bomber here on my own. Don't think I will be grabbing this one again.

The color is the standard amber in the pint shaker. Foam is modest to start and dissipates without much provocation. A snappy, malty mouthful to start, makes a good first impression. Average carbonation.

On the tangy side. There is a persistent plasticky note that is the big discord. The hops just seem to be biter. Not much in the way of aromatics. And the stuff is pretty flat before the pint is half finished. Actually, I didn't finish the pint anyway from the harsh, bitter flavor that overtakes anything pleasurable.

Quite bitter in the aftertaste. This seems more than a little over-hopped. There are so many good Pale Ales from everywhere I think this one needs to be retooled.
