A little different than the photo/stats shown here. Presented in a 16 oz. can vice a bottle and 9.5% abv instead of 8%. I was pleasantly surprised with this beer. I'm always suspicious of other-than-Belgian takes on the Tripel style (unless they are from Unibroue or Ommegang!!!) When I saw "lemongrass" on the label, I thought of the few beers I have tried that featured lemongrass and they were all overwhelmed with it. No fears here. This is a good Tripel, not world class but very tasty!!!. Poured from the can into my Chimay goblet, this beer featured a small bubbly white head and a clear orange colored body. Not much head retention or lacing, but still a good looking beer. Aroma and taste featured light fruit (apples and pears), peppery spicing and Belgian candi sugar. Some of the best Tripels seem to have a "ripe cheese" flavor aspect, but this is splitting hairs. This is a real Tripel, nicely done!! Mouthfeel is rich with just the right amount of carbonation. The important Tripel aspect is the well hidden alcohol!!! I would never gulp a flavorful Tripel, but this one could be gulped by accident!! Well done and enjoyable

Really nice tripel, that has a hop crisp balance and was very easy to drink despite the high alcohol. Really enjoyed.

A: First off, let me say that they're being a little tricky with that can design.. I see that trappist logo shape... A cute nod to the beer's style. Makes me wonder what yeast was used, and how many people recognize the shape. Appearance is orange amber, with a decent white head.
S: Sweet with notes of clove, raison, and wheat bread. Perhaps some light banana in there as well as some herbal/spice notes in the finish.
T: Spice and herbal notes up front with clove, lemon peel, and perhaps a hint of ginger. Malty sweet with some classic Belgian yeast character.
M: Medium light in body, with moderate high carbonation. semi dry. Nice, but it doesn't have that true Belgian Trappist mouthfeel.
O: Overall pretty tasty. Fine work.

It's a beautiful deep good, vermin on amber. It has no head and no lacing but the color is amazing. The smell is in line with a traditional tripel: candy sugar, a little yeast, some grains and earth. Not much by way of lemongrass. This is also the case for the taste. The body is light on the palate with a nice steady carbonation.

I don't see any actual bottling date but the back of the bottle says "vintage 2016."
Appearance: There isn't much of a head. Aggressively pouring only forms a short white head and it has no retention or lacing. The body of the beer is hazy and has a gold appearance that looks nice.
Aroma: It has a sweet Dubble Bubble Halloween bubblegum aroma. I get a light hint of alcohol but not much. The beer says it is made with lemongrass on the front but I can't smell it.
Taste: It has a sweet grain flavor that lingers on the palate and persists long after taking a sip. After drinking the beer for a while a bit of Belgian yeast character comes through with a slightly spicy pepper and a touch of cedar flavor. It is decent but it feels like it is missing a few pieces to the puzzle to make it really taste like a Tripel. There is no lemongrass flavor. As the beer sits and begins to warm up some alcohol starts to show up.
Mouthfeel: It feels rather low in carbonation for a Tripel and it is not dry enough. The mouthfeel is a bit too heavy as well.
Overall: It is not that great of a Tripel and there was no lemongrass aroma or flavor to boot. At best it was an average attempt at the style but it just left me wanting more from a beer that teased me with a few flavors here and a bit of aroma there. I doubt I would pick it up again and I probably wouldn't chance it on draft either. It's not a beer I would recommend. If you love Belgian style beers you might be interested in picking it up as a novelty to see how it compares to the "known good" Tripels of the world, and how much of a gap there can be in the style.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #76 (May 2013):
We are all for extreme beer, but we are also about styles staying within their traditional ranges ... especially Belgians. This is a Tripel through and through, not the cleanest one but certainly a very enjoyable one at that. The addition of lemongrass simply complements what the brewers are trying to achieve. Well done!
STYLE: Tripel
ABV: 8.0%
AVAILABILITY: Limited
LOOK: Hazed orange amber, excellent head
SMELL: Fresh-cut grass, lemony, walnut skin, guava, peppery, papaya, spicy alcohol, earthy
TASTE: Creamy, smooth, mild crispness, hay, balanced bitterness, spicy alcohol, lemongrass, pithy, yeasty, bready, quite warming

Had this at their Brewery/Taphouse. Not bad, needs just a bit more flavor togive it a higher rating.
