16.9 oz. Euro brown bottle,

A: Pours a crystal clear yellow, with a big, billowy white head, nice retention.

S: Smells faintly of Czech hops and bread malt.

T: Pretty good, it's got a nice hop balance, very floral and grassy, with toasty malt, not the best tasting pils in the world but not bad.

M: Light, very light, highly carbonated, fuller than the average lager, dry.

D: A good pils, probably won't buy again, but I liked it and glad I tried it. Would be an easy drinker on a hot summer day.

Pours a nice golden color with a thin one-finger head into my glass. Not bad.

Aroma is full of sweet, grainy malt. Not much else seems to be present. Must be the fact that it's in a green bottle?

Taste is once again full of sweet and grainy malt. Just a tad bit of hops. Simple and it goes down well.

Mouthfeel is full of the lingering sweet, grainy malt. Not much else. Feels well fleshed-out but otherwise, it's nothing too impressive.

It's no wonder that A-B has fought with this brewery for decades over trademark issues. I can see that A-B likely fears a beer that seems more drinkable than the American Budweiser.

The beer pours a nice gold color with a thick frothy white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is average. It has a dry, pilsner malt scent with little hop aroma. It has an all malt scent. The taste is decent. It has a smooth, pilsner malt flavor that goes down easy and finishes dry with next to no bitterness. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a low/medium bodied beer with a little less than adequate carbonation. This is a pretty good drinking lager. It was hoping for more hop character, but all in all, not bad.

A: Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. The head dissipates quickly leaving a thin ring of bubbles around the edges of the glass. The beer contains lots of particulates and had moderate amounts of lacing.

S: Aromas of bready malts with grassy hops and the slightest hint of skunkiness. As the beer warmed, there were also hints of honey and lemon.

T: Flavors were nice and malty - primarily bready malts with just a hint of bitterness on the finish from the grassy hops.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Easy to drink and quite sessionable, I enjoyed this one and will likely have it again. It paired very nicely with some spicy food (hot wings) because of the resfreshing flavor.

Pours out a clear golden color with a creamy quarter-inch head. Aroma is grainy malt, very little hop aroma. Flavor, likewise, is sweet and malty with only a light touch of bitterness, thought it dries out a bit at the end. Medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel.

An unexceptional beer, resembling pilsners from the Netherlands or Denmark more than a hoppy Czech pils.

Bottle Inspection: 4.7% by volume in small print on the back, no date, green 12 oz bottle, white foil top. Front label says 1795, but the back says first brewed in 1802. What, they sat around on their hands for 7 years?

Aroma: Hello Pepe LePhew! I note skunk at arms length during the pour and well after. Just skunk, nothing more. Have to love the green bottles. Well, maybe a hint of DMS.

Appearance: Deep golden glass with a thin white cover that holds a collar

Flavor: Well balanced with a mildly sweet malt start and a mild peppery hop finish. Hops seem very low key for a Pils. No off flavors (as long as I hold my nose to the skunk).

Mouthfeel: Medium body, moderate carbonation, thin texture and fairly dry.

Overall Impression: Very drinkable, but green bottles must die.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

A. Golden in color with a touch of haze, a small but sturdy white head.

S. Czech malts and spicy hops. Smells almost salty, like a Gose.

T. Light bitterness in finish. Sweet malt. Bread. Grain. Sugary.

M. Light carbonation, light-bodied and watery.

D. Light and easy to drink.

The beer poured into the glass pale golden and chunky with gross gelatinous flocs. The head was white and barely there lasting only briefly and gone in a flash but it did leave slight tracing on the glass.

The aroma was malty with a spicy hop presence which was quite notable. The malty character contained a light caramel, but that aromatic was in the background behind the hops.

The flavor was a bit bland with low malt flavor as the beer first contacted the palate and bittering jumped in immediately to cause and even balance between malt and hops. The flavor had a spicy hop bite to it, but was never overbittered, nor overly intriguing.

The finish was dry with a lasting light impression of hops into the aftertaste. The body was just below medium with a fairly low carbonation. Not a bad beer, but not much going on. No freshness dating, but this just appeared in our market so one would not expect this to be an old example.

12 ounce bottle.

Presentation: 12oz bottle with a silver foil covering 2 thirds of the top of the bottle, with no freshness date to be found.

Appearance: The beer poured a pale golden yellow color with think head that seemed to disappear very fast. With a decent amount of lacing that clung till the end.

Smell: The aroma was a little spicy with a malty overture that focused mainly on the subtle smells such as caramel and hops with a little bit of sweetness as well.

Taste: A ok taste with a low malt flavor that was balanced well with the hop bitterness and subtle tastes of caramel and sweetness wrapped it all up.

Mouth-Feel: A dry crisp mouth feels with little carbonation to it and a smooth finish.

Drink-Ability: Not bad at all. I’m a sucker for any Czech beer but what can I say I’m Czech. Overall not the best Czech beer I’ve had but still good.

A new beer to me at least from Sandy's deli in San Luis.

This beer is clear and golden with a nice but not to large white head.

Smell is sweet and malty with a toasted grain aroma and a decent Nobel hops aroma that isn't all that strong. Mildly spicy aroma from the hops and an astringent grain husk aroma.

Taste is medium dry with toasted grain coming to the forefront of the initial taste. Very quickly the hop bitterness ramp up in this one and grabs your attention, this is a feisty Pilsner with a strong hop bite. Beyond the hops this one is not very complex.

Mouthfeel is good.

Drinkability is OK but this is by no means a "must try it" beer. This is a good bitter Pilsner like I like them but it doesn't bring any spiciness to the party. Probably this is a FAR better beer in Europe but by the time it spends six weeks on a boat and who knows how long in a warehouse this is just a little better than average beer.

Pretty middle-of-the-road for it's style. Sure it has nice pilsner maltiness, noble hops, and quite clean, but it has no ass. Simply safe and simple. Medium on all aroma, taste, and texture profiles. Lightly grainy and nicely malty, spiced nicely with Saaz hops. It's a fine beer, but I would expect to be challenged with any of this beer's experiences.

B.B. Burgerbrau
12 oz green bottle
Served in a pilsner glass

Pours a golden straw yellow with patterns of mini carbonation bubbles that race toward the top of the pilsner glass. Some random trails of sticky lacings appear.

Very faint nose with some whiffs of grains and hops, but rather light overall.

Grassy clean flavors up front with sweet and juicy honey drizzle grains. Just a touch of peppery hops and watered down lemon citrus on the finish. This beer doesn't carry that Czech Pilsner hop snap that I've come to appreciate.

Overall, a slighty above average Czech Pilsner and quite drinkable, but was hoping for for a tad more.

Served in a pilsner glass, the beer pours a golden/light amber color with a small white head. The aroma is grainy, biscuity, grassy hops and honey. First it tastes like grain and sweet malt, and then has a grassy hops aftertaste. The mouthfeel is light and with moderate carbonation, and it is crisp and easy to drink. I think this is an OK beer overall.

I had out of a 12 ounce bottle.
A- Average dull gold color with a limited head and little lacing.
S- Has a decent, bitter wheat scent to it.
T- Kind of a fruity pilsner. I'm not sure, but there's like an appleish taste in there. I would not prefer this over most Czech Pilsners, but this is definitely quality.

Yellow straw color with some spotty lacing after a quickly dissipating head. Very faint grass aroma. Taste is nicely balanced but a little weak in the finish--was looking for a bit more hop bite. Mouthfeel was good--a nice creamy feel. The ABV (of 4.7% per the bottle's label) makes this one a good hot weather beer for knocking down a few on the deck listening to my XM satellite radio.

As an aside, another good brew from Ceske Budejovice, but not as good as Budvar, IMO. The latter is a true pilsner.

This falls within the spectrum of the wet and juicy pilsner, which really isn't my preference in a pils but this one is decent. Lightly malty sweet with a bit of hops to dry it up leaving a bit of bitterness on the palate. Feels slick on the tongue. A bit of lemon oil flavor, some potato bread flavor.
A pretty simple beer made for easy drinking with a pretty good flavor.

appearance - 4/5 - Pours with a small stark white head. It's color is read-through transparent golden. The head disappears quickly.

smell - 3/5 - Smells of dough and earthy hops.

taste - 3.5/5 - Very bready and earthy hoppy. It's just like the smell but magnified. The hops have kind of a floral & earthy spiciness.

mouthfeel - 4/5 - A little high on the carbonation, but not too much. Hops flavor lingers and coats the mouth.

overall - 4/5 - Not a bad pilsener that is well supported by it's hops. Not the best Czech beer I've had and not the worst.

B.B. Burgerbrau pours an orange color with a white head from a green 11.1 ounce bottle. The aroma is a mostly spicy hops and surprisingly doesn't seem to be skunky. Spicy hops are also noticeable in the flavor and the malt flavor is solid if mostly in the background. A nice light pils. Worth a try.

B.B. Burgerbrau was a good drinkable beer. It is a smooth beer with a mild hop taste and is nice for a summer day. Mild wheat taste to it, really refreshing. Overall, what one might expect for a basic Czech Pilsner. I'd buy it again. It reminds me of different German Pilsners that I have had before.

This beer is hard to find on BA, because as others have noted, the US import bottles list a diferent brewery all together. Thank god for the picture of the bottle! Anyway, the beer is a darn nice looking very gold (like a shiny coin). Since I poured it, I had a lovely inch of creamy white foam, but alas where did it go? Aroma is probably its bext feature: rich, bready, perfumey. Tastewise, it is not bad, maltyness tingued with some perfumey hops. The sweetness in the finish was a bit noticeable...perhaps a touch more sharp carbonation would have evened that out.

The color is golden with a nice level of carbonation. Head is creamy and of medium height. Retention is okay. The aroma is clean, I was expecting skunk from the green bottle. Sweet, grainy smells dominate. The taste is dominated by sweet malts with an undercurrent of grainy, grassy flavor. Hop flavor most noticed at the beginning of a sip, other than that hop presence is much less than expected from a pils. A creamy mouthfeel is a plus and the drinkability is excellent.

This is a quaffable import lager. Poured out to a rich golden color with a nice white foamy head and medium high carbonation. Some traces of lace in the glass. Aromas were weak, but notes of hops and grain were noted. Taste was simple yet enjoyable. Flavors of hops and grain are accented by the mild malt that is not too thick or overpowering. Mouthfeel is nice; crisp and light while still maintaining a good level of refreshing depth. Decent drinkability. This brew would be best consumed with some chicken or pizza, or as a summer brew. I think I may find myself back with this beer toward the warmer months of the year. Recommended.

Poured a clear golden color with a generous head, minimal lacing. Smelled of pilsner malt and hops. Taste was clean and refreshing, but somewhat sweet for a pilsner I thought. Not as dry a finish as some. Mouthfeel was average for this style, and drinkablity was good, very smooth and easy to drink.

Golden color with good clarity. Small white head that dispersed very quickly.

Aroma was fairly simple and clean - some malt and some noble hops.

What tasted like Saaz hops were very evident up front - strong hop flavor presence, but not overly bitter (balanced by the malt). Finishes fairly dry and slightly hoppy.

Light to medium body and moderate carbonation. Clean and smooth mouthfeel.

Overall flavor is a bit flat, despite being a clean and somewhat hoppy beer. Nothing really wrong with it, but lacked a certain umph. Also, my bottle said 4.7% rather than 5.0% ABV.

A - Straw yellow with a fizzy white head that quickly shrinks to a hazy veil over the beer.

S - The smell is grainy, a tad sweaty and a bit metallic-skunky.

T - The taste is very muted, mostly clean pale malt colored with the flavors of the skunky, sweaty bohemian hop.

M - The beer is quite thin, almost watery, but it is smooth, crisp and refreshing.

D - While this beer is far from fantastic, its drinkability is not so. Basically, this is a great contender for das boot, or any vessel over one liter.
