GOLDEN AMBER COLOUR WITH A SUPPLE, DRYISH MEDIUM BODY AND A LONG, REFRESHING FINISH.

WORLD BEER CHAMPIONSHIPS AWARD: GOLD MEDAL
“Golden amber colour. Inviting aromas toasted pretzel bread, fig jam, and herb frittata with a supple, dryish medium body and a long, refreshing finish with notes of nuts, clay, jicama, and buttered herb-pepper baguette. Very well made and thoroughly refreshing. ”

The Praga Premium Pils is crisp, light and hoppy and perfect to enjoy on its own,

however works well paired with chicken piccata, cob salad or mild cheddar. It is very well made and thoroughly refreshing.

S: pretty faint, pepper and cream
T: cream, malt, spice, pretty nuanced for a pilsner
F: very good carbonation

Pretty refreshing and flavorful. Smell is lacking. No alcohol bite.

11.2 Fl. Oz. green bottle
Served in a pilsner glass

This beer pours a brilliant golden hue and is topped with a couple inches of off-white head that leaves minimal lacing.

Slightly skunked with a mineral and citrus smell. Honey baked roll aroma.

It has a sweet roll flavor. Slight skunk. I get some minerally, metal bitterness. Earthy

Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel

Weird is the best word to describe this experience.

Pours a nice clear yellow.
Thin whispy head lasts till the end.
Taste is a bit metallic, with some malt sweetness and a touch of hops in the end.
It's nothing great, not horrible but there's better.
I think I expected more than what I got.
If it were a buck a can in the homeland I'd drink it often, but at import prices, there's way better.

I reviewed this a while ago, reviewing again now, taking into account my greater life and drinking experience.

Not much detectable aroma. Quite a dark colour for a pilsner, smooth head.

Mouth feel is kind of simple, a little too fizzy as opposed to smooth. Definitely not great in my view.

Not much bitterness from the hops. It's quite sweet and a little flat tasting. Hops are Czech style for sure, but a little too subtle. I'm not really a fan and actually prefer a lot of mega budget pilsners to this one...Budvar and most other Czech pilsners are superior to this in my view.

Purchased 12-pack of pint cans (bias of aluminum over glass esp for EU imports). Poured into tubinger mug. Seen many times in bottles but always went to the gold standard; Pilsner Urquell. Pours with more carbonation but less head retention compared to PU. Also less of a hop finish (think more malt backbone and more floral). That said, good structure, body and mouthfeel. Exceptionally crushable and don’t feel bloated after two, three…etc. True sign of a well crafted lager.

Disappointing flavors on the finish ruin this beer. The aftertaste is jarringly unpleasant. Chalk, medicine and dirty, rusty metal. Cold going down it is OK, but then you get hit with the nasties. I tried to kill some of this with a slice of lemon, and it helped, but should not be required to get minimal enjoyment from a simple pils. Beer in this price range is a gamble, and on this one I lost. $7.49 for 4 pints, Chicago USA. I would much prefer spending $10 for Stiegl. Radeberger at 6 pints for $10 is a MUCH better deal.

Appearance: Pours a mostly clear, medium orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 8. (4.00)

Aroma: Fairly strong aromas of rich pale malts, bread malts, buttery and salty bread notes. Smooth and rich buttery bread finish. (4.00)

Flavor: Moderate flavors of rich bread malt, pale malts, buttery bread notes. Some sweet bread on the finish. A decent amount of diacetyl. (4.00)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Yeasty, with a crisp mouthfeel. (4.00)

Compared to Pilsner Urquell 7/7/22: Pours a similar appearance. Milder aromas, but similar. More pale malts. Less buttery malts and lemon hops. Crispier and a lighter mouthfeel.
7/2023: Pours lighter, milder aromas. More grains and adjuncts. Less buttery biscuit. Similar bitterness, but not as soft.

Compared to Pryes Pragmatic Pils 8/26/22: Pours darker. More buttery bread, European earthy malt. Less bittering yeast. Smoother and more sweaty. Larger and sweeter.

Compared to Fair State Side Pull 8/26/22: Pours darker. More buttery bread, European earthy malt. Less soft white bread. Heavier and more sweaty. Larger and sweeter.

Compared to Off Color Tooth and Claw 11/2023: Pours darker, stronger aromas. More buttery and earthy bread malts. less hoppy lemon, floral, and yeasty notes. More Euro lager flavors and malty. Similar sweetness.

Compared to Bahaus Wonderstuff 11/2023: Pours darker, stronger aromas. More buttery and earthy bread malts. less hoppy lemon, floral, and yeasty notes. More Euro lager flavors and malty. Similar sweetness.

Overall: This is a good Czech Pils. Authentic in all aspects. It has a nice buttery bread malt. Pale malts as well with an authentic yeast flavor. One subsequent reviews, nothing extraordinary and pretty standard. Drinks clean. Right on for a Czech Pils. (Rating: 3.95)

Light bodied. Watery flavor, some earthy and herbal notes. Had at an international food festival, wouldn't go out of my way for this one at all.

Served in 20oz mug. Poured a lightly hazy dark straw color with over an inch of white head that had very good retention and light lacing.

The aroma was fairly typical for the style; lightly grainy malts and some soft, floral hops.

Pretty much the same on the tongue, with some sweetness showing through as well.

The body was as expected, light and smooth, with a semi-sweet finish.

Drinkability was good, a pleasant quaff.

Overall, a fairly typical and enjoyable example of the style. Worth a shot if you see it.
