Taste: crisp, toasted grain, balanced with some hop to the malt. Slightly funky hop nose I did not expect. Copper hue, semi clear, small head and lace. Medium body. Grainy, just OK. 38 IBUs

Pours a clear mahogany color. 3/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, caramel malt, hint of pale malt, slight tea, hint of spicy hops, and slight yeast. Fits the style of an Irish Red Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, caramel malt, hint of pale malt, slight tea, hint of spicy hops, and slight candi sugar. Overall, cloyingly sweet and too carbonated, but otherwise average.

This is actually a beer that my wife ordered during a recent trip to Church St for dinner and brews. As always, I got a couple sips in order to log a review and to see if I would like it for future ordering.
This beer pours a copper color that is nice and clear with virtually no head. The head is in the form of lacing from the get-go and is white in color. Carbonation is light in appearance. 3.5/5 The aroma is of moderate intensity and leans toward sharp rather than sweet, although not by much. The malt presents as moderately toasted grain and a bit of earth from a nutty profile (hazelnuts). There is some sweetness but it is not overpronounced and seems to be mainly a grainy sweetness. Hops present chiefly as earthy and herbal in nature with a bit of peat moss. There is a spiciness to the aroma that really reminds of a Belgian type of beer, possibly Belgian yeast. 4/5 The flavor is quite strong for this style and leans fairly well toward the bitter side of life. The malt here presents as dark toasted white bread, hazelnuts, and lightly sweet grain. The hops really come out nicely with an earthy peat moss nature and a bit of an herbal note. Pepper and coriander come out at times, making this feel more like a Belgian style beer. Bitterness is moderately high and lingers for a just a bit after swallowing. 3.5/5 This is a medium bodied Red Ale that has lively carbonation and is fairly drying, but also mouthcoating at the same time. Dryness persists after swallowing for a moderate length of time. 3.75/5 This is a decent Red Ale that is light on the alcohol and mouthfeel making it very sessionable. This just feels more like a Belgian than an Irish Red to me. Regardless, I still enjoyed the sips/mouthfulls that I had. 3.5/5

Tasted in a 16 oz pint glass from draught at Firkin on March 16, 2016. Look is clear ruby red Amber with a thin head and lingering lacing. Taste is sweet malt flavors and rock candy.
