16oz draft pour into a willi becher glass shows a clear bubbly straw-yellow body floating a 1/4in head of white bubbles and leaving a waves of lacing.

Aroma is a restrained piney, fruity, tangerine, orange zest bitterness with a hint of bready malt.

Flavors are muddled with dark bitterness, especially at the back of the palate.

Mouthfeel is a lighter-leaning medium and slightly chewy.

Overall ok.

Pours a clear gold color. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of floral hops, slight spicy hops, hint of pine, slight sweet malt, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is a slight bitterness. Tastes of floral hops, slight spicy hops, hint of pine, slight sweet malt, hint of earthiness, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, good appearance, but average aroma, blend, and body.

What a disappointment. I try to drink something new everyday and picked this up at my local specialty shop not knowing anything about it. The look is good, almost a little hazy on the pour. The nose is all malt. This beer is way off balance. With the only perceivable bitterness being the after taste. One of those rare IPA that I will literally pour out. I have been tasting beers daily getting ready to certify as a cicerone, and have grown to appreciate something about nearly every beer I try. This was just a complete loss

Pours golden with a medium white head. The aroma while very mild contains grapefruit, caramel, resin, and slight pine impressions. The taste is initially only pine. It It isn’t very fruity or sweet, or very bitter. Aftertaste is a piney caramel and lingers for a bit. Medium bodied.

What the....? Yet another forgettable beer from Church Street, a brewery that had been unfamiliar to me until two days ago. Like their Continental Lager, Brimstone barely rises to the level of mediocrity, and it certainly cannot compete with the better IPAs or APAs out there. It is quite drinkable and inoffensive, like, say Fat Tire, but it also lacks character or complexity. It isn't particularly hoppy and does not stand out in any particular fashion - although it does have a slightly unpleasant finish. My advice: pass this one by and have a Rebel IPA or a Dreadnaught or an All-Day IPA or...

My wife and I made a trip to Church St recently when Toasty Cheese food truck was there on a Friday night in order to do some grilled cheese and food pairings. The Zwickel worked out really well so I was excited to see how the Brimstone IPA worked in conjunction with some awesome grilled cheese.

This beer pours an amber hue that leans slightly towards golden and is ultra clear with a thin white head that dissipates quickly to a thin lacing with a neck. 3.75/5 The aroma is of moderate strength and is quite sharp due to the hops but this is expected. The only note in terms of malt that I get here is caramel which lends a nice sweetness to counterbalance the hops. In terms of the hops, there is a plethora of aromas here. Grapefruit, papaya, pineapple, mango, and pine all come out nice and strong together. There is also a bit of floral hops that come through as well. 4/5 The flavor is every bit as good as the aroma with a nice strong intensity that isn't over the top with a major lean towards bitter instead of sweet. Bitterness is high but not excessive with a moderately long finish that is of moderate strength. As with the aroma the malt is chiefly presented in the form of caramel and just a hint of white bread. The hops on the other hand are quite complex in terms of notes with grapefruit, pine, mango, pineapple, and papaya all playing a role. The combination of resin, citrus, and tropical notes is very well played here. 4/5 This is a medium bodied beer that features lively carbonation and is quite dry and astringent with a bit of a prickly mouthfeel. The dryness does persist after swallowing for quite some time but it is not excessive. 3.75/5 This is a well crafted IPA that features a very nice and well thought out combination of flavors. The spicy grilled cheese that I paired with it worked really well as a dinner combination too. 4/5

Don't buy. Every Bottle I opened foamed over. Obviously over carbonated. Poorly crafted.
