Had two pints on draft at the Pillory Pub in Plymouth for about seven dollars. Was pleasantly surprised to see this, as I didn't know their beer made it to MA. Very solid, looking forward to trying their other offerings.

On-tap at the brewery. Should have started with this one, but oddly had it after Hobbit Juice, their DIPA. It was still seriously delicious, which is a testament to how good this beer is. Heavy juice bomb, also on the West Coast side of the style. Figured they’d be another brewery following the hazy trend but they’re killing it with the “old school” hoppy beers.

Lightly hazy, with a darker gold color. Lasting, small head with some light streaks.

The hop dominates with a biting earthiness of which I’m not a fan. Second whiff gives me a greater floral presence.

The pale malt is semi-dry and provides clean taste and mouthfeel—a touch lean body with an elevated carbonation level. The bittering hop cuts this but doesn’t overwhelm. The earthiness isn’t present in the taste. Moderate aftertaste.

First try with a 16 oz can dated 01/31/19., 17 days old. Surprised there was no distinct aroma in the pour to a pint glass. I'm not a huge fan of the Citra hop but it was my chance at another Beer'd sampling. Not bad. We'll be planning a trip to the tap house this summer.

16 oz can into IPA glass. Dated 10/18/18.
Look is semi-cloudy orange hue. Smell is sweet tropical fruit. Taste follows nose with little grapefruit bite at end. Feel is light. Overall, a very nice APA with great taste and easy to drink. Would buy again.

A: crystal clear; deep gold in color; with a fairly aggressive pour, a 2 finger off white head that receded to a thin cap; very nice lacing;

S: quite aromatic; orange is predominant with caramel and lemon in the background;

T: flavor is also relatively intense; starts with orange, then bounces back and forth with lemon until ending with orange again; caramel is in the background the whole time; mild bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: really nice;

Thanks goes out to TheManiacalOne for this brew.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 06/08/17

My first brew from Beer'd Brewing!

Poured into a Squatters true pint glass a very nice hazy dark golden orangy color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a really nice citrus complex (oranges, grapefruit), nice little pine. The taste is very nice, hoppy, malty, really nice citrus complex (oranges, grapefruit), very nice little pine note. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a very tasty brew. I like their take on it, a little different. Glad I got a chance to try this. Thanks Mark!

Poured from a 16 oz can into a teku glass.

Pours a lightly chill hazed golden orange color with a finger of effervescent white head. The retention is solid, leaving tons of cobwebs of lace before settling into a thin sheet that rests gently atop the beer.

The aroma is an explosion of citrus. Tangerine and oranges, with some grapefruit, clementines, and a touch of lemon-lime. The back end is piney with some cracker malt notes.

The taste is full of orange, tangerine, and ruby red grapefruit on the front, followed by some overripe melon and a finish of bitter pine. The graham cracker malt provides a bready, subtly sweet backbone.

The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very smooth, very creamy, yet exceptionally drinkable.

Overall, a fantastic pale ale that can be labeled whatever the hell you want it to be. It's as hoppy as an IPA, but as balanced as a pale ale. It's full of flavor and incredibly drinkable. Possibly the best beer from this brewery.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a soft golden amber color with a decent little white head. Stringy lace. The aroma had some heavy citrus bitter rind-like hops. Some cracker/bready malts and then a light resin/piney-ness. The flavor seems to lean more towards some orange pulpy sweetness, and some grapefruit and then some orange zest. Aftertaste is full of the citrus blend. Finishes slightly dry. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. Good strength from the ABV. Overall, decent APA that I could have again.

Moderate pour yields a 1/2 inch white head over light amber body with some lacing. Nose of tropical fruit and citrus. Taste follows with medium bitterness. Feel is a tad thin and overall a nice Pale Ale.

On-tap 11/8/2016 at Julian’s in Providence, RI, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains floral hops, fruity citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a burst of floral hops bitterness that is quickly followed by strong and sweet flavors of fruity citrus and caramel. The malt character is hearty and provides a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Very tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, good kick, very good representation of style, this is a very nice beer to pound down for a long time.

On draft at The Engine Room. After I ordered it seemed like every one else was getting it despite their amazing beer list. Really good look, really good taste. I like this beer for a medium ABV APA. Golden color and an aroma that beats half the high IBU IPAs. Definitely will go for this again.

So while people waited for a couple hours in rain to get growlers filled of FBD, I scored a growler of this excellent beer whilst relaxing with a pint of Riff. Job well done to myself.

This is an excellent single-hop Citra beer that even outquacks FBD when it comes to ABV.

A: Golden tangerine colored beer. Slightly hazy with active carbonation. Cakey white head, not overwhelmingly tall, but it's sturdy and voluminous. Silky sheen remains on top throughout the session; good lacing.

S: Not as in your face as FBD but definitely great Citra hop aroma. Honey sweet floral, clementine blossoms, green papaya, musky tropicals; mango, guava, grape, melon.

M: Soft body, oily and slick. Countered with firm carbonation and medium feel.

T: Overall, it is very floral and herbal. Tart Meyer lemon and gooseberry. Lightly spiced verbena tea. Tangy orange peel, some earthy smoke character. Soft, cracker-like malt backbone. Doesn't get in the way of hops, but is dares to make a stand for awhile. Peppery, spicy, and herbal aftertaste.

The aroma and taste really compliment each other in this beer. Sweet nose yields to a herbal and floral beer that is more complex than tropical aromas suggest.

Can't believe only a pale! Golden brown crystal clear color. Hoped up scent and taste to match. Bitter and dry on the finish. Solid, refreshing offering. Beer'd has never missed w/ me. Cheers!

After drinking a lot of Beer'd beers I have concluded this is their best. It's a truly excellent single hop APA with big aromas, great balance and excellent drinkability.

Bought a growler and liked it. Awesome nose, mouthfeel, and drinkability. Hoppy but not real bitter hoppy, much more citrus/floral hoppy. The only thing I didn't care for was the finish. Had a wheatish after-taste and I don't really care for wheat brews. Still very much worth a try.

Look: Nice head, light orange/yellow, slightly hazy, great lacing
Smel: Tropical fruit and an unpleasant fruitiness at the start, then turns lighter in tropical aroma and more citrus
Taste: Tropical and ends with a pleasant bitterness. As it warms it gets better. Great balance between sweetness and dryness/bitterness
Feel: Prickly carbonation, smooth

Picked up a fresh growler this past weekend after a trip to the brewery. Amazing APA, super fresh and bursting with citra hops. Probably one of the best beers I have had in some time. Wish it came in cans.

On tap at the Engine Room Mystic Ct
Come to the table a murky cloudy grapefruit juice of a beer with a smallish off white head. Huge tropical citrus and pine aromas with a hint of bready malt. The flavor is light bready malt with huge citrus and pine hop flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Didn't look like much in my glass, but that is a pretty damn good beer right there.

Big, fluffy, snow-white head from an indelicate pour. Brew is golden straw with orange highlights, and a little thick and hazy - transclucent. Head retention is excellent, with white fuzz lasting the entirety of the glass, and lacing is wide and soapy.

Dank, peppery hop aroma typical of Citra beers. There's some bread and biscuit from the malt, as well.

Huge Citra hop APA - exactly what you'd hope for, and might dare expect. Sharp citrus peel and lemon, balanced by massive sweet, dank notes; big malt base of barely-sweet bread and hints of pale and crystal; peppery spice atop tobacco notes.

Like any good APA, what really sets this above other beers is the mouthfeel, where it really excels. Creamy, damn near chewy for the style, this is a smooth, lively, yet still very drinkable beer.

This is as good a single-hop Citra APA as I've had since Zombie Dust. For such a tiny brewery, the amount of care that clearly went into making this a world-class APA is evident. It's easy to rely on Citra to carry a brew to hop-heads everywhere; it's another to balance the water, yeast, and malt load to make such a creamy, pleasurable beer. Fantastic!

Served from a 64oz. growler purchased this afternoon into a tulip nonic. Pours a dull burnt orange hue with a slight haze and a tight, one inch bright white head that eventually settles into a solid 1/8th inch cap. Some residual spots of lacing are present between quaffs. Nose is all citra - citrus, melon and a hint of herbal earthiness at the tail end. Fruit is a bit more muted in the flavor profile and there's also a light, biscuity/crackery malt backbone. Mouthfeel is just shy of light-medium with a crisp carbonation that leaves a slight bite between quaffs and there's also just a kiss of acidity. Overall, a very drinkable APA. Would love to see if this can come down to session-strength if possible.

64oz growler filled at Beer'd a few hours ago. Pours a cloudy burnt amber color with an inch of frothy white head. Lots of lacing. Great aroma of tropical fruits with citrus notes. Mango, tangerine and guava. The taste is more of the same. Tropical fruits with some tangerine and orange peel. Some breadiness towards the end with juicy tropical fruits. A hint of lemon. Very dry with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Lots of carbonation. Pretty big Pale ale. Great showcase for the Citra Hops. Overall, a really good Pale Ale that borders on an IPA. Worth seeking out.
