L- pitch black with not light transference. Thin half centimeter head from an aggressive pour recedes to a think ring with very little lacing.
S- The first smell to hit me was peanut butter. Not like fake crap, but when I open a jar of peanut butter. Nice. Some malt aromas in the backround behind the pb.
T- There is light peanut butter initially, but it is quickly overwhelmed by coffee and bitter chocolate.
F- A nice thick mouthfeel just shy of stout levels with light carbonation
O-This is a nice porter with legit and not fake peanut butter flavor and aroma. The bitterness in the finish is a little more than I would like, but is well within style guidelines.

Poured from the can with a date label on the top of 10/21/15 into a shaped pint glass. Pours inky black with a small tan head that doesn't leave much lacing. Subtle aromatics, touch of roasted malt at the most, not getting any peanut butter. Taste is much more, nice porter notes up front, sweet, bold, slightly roasty. Finishes with a hint of peanut and some bitterness. Feel is a bit thin, it's a hair watery and there's an oily feel to it after the swallow. All in all a tasty beer, not as much peanut butter as I expected, but in a way that's probably a good thing. The base porter itself needs a bit more work, it's a hair too light, but maybe that was intentional to get the peanut notes to show.

The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a slim finger’s worth of tan head. Stringy lacing clings and then slides into the beer at an adequate pace. The smell had some roasted peanut blending with a subtle roasty coffee bean underneath. The taste was dry and roasty with a subtle sweetness from the roasted peanut. There’s a light roasty peanut to coffee aftertaste leading into the finish. The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a nice sessionable feel about it. Carbonation felt right for a porter but with the roasty portion and peanut there’s a certain dryness clinging to my tongue. Overall, seemed like it was more towards the peanut than the peanut butter, maybe again.

From the 12 fl. oz. can.Sampled on November 26, 2015.

The pour is very attractive with its dark brown color and hints of ruby red hues under a long lasting tan head.

I pick up a nice sweet malt character in the aroma but yes, I also get some peanuts. There is also a kind of vanilla thing going going on.

Medium body.

What I enjoyed about it was that I was expecting a bigger peanut butter presence since that is how they marketed it. But the peanuts just enhanced the sweet caramel malt character. It had a mild bitterness to finish.

I'm unfamiliar with Foolproof beers at this point but I had to give a peanut butter beer a shot. I was cautious about this being a gimmick beer, but honestly toasted peanut is a practical and sensible flavor target for a porter so I can definitely see what they were going for here. Body is commensurate for a porter, meaning it's not overly chewy and is light enough to make each sip refreshing rather than palate coating.

Aroma is peanut forward with chocolate as well. The chocolate note became more pronounced in the flavor as I acclimated to the beer and as it warmed up. There is a mild bitterness on the finish that makes peanut skins come to mind. Not a hop character per se, I think it's coming from the peanut butter. Very nice to drink, comforting in a way. Not boozy either so you don't have to worry about crashing on the sofa after one of these.

As porters go, this one is alright. not heavy on the peanut butter flavor. Thick and flavorful. I would recommend this to stout lovers. Out of a can from Friendlys discount in whitinsville..
