12 oz. can.
No canning date, but just rec'd at the store yesterday.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch tan head over a near black body with some sticky lacing. Nose of peanuts, slight roasted malt, slight dark malt, and slight bread and/or cracker. Taste of peanuts, dark malts, slight hops, and the faintest bit of bitter chocolate and unsweetened chocolate as it warms. Slight hop bitterness on the finish. Good to nice feel and overall, a pretty decent lower alcohol stout from Pawtucket, RI and would have again. Cheers!

I CAN hardly CANtain my excitement at having Foolproof BC come to PA! A teaching buddy of mine left the classroom to work for PDE, then went to RIDE, followed by MassDE & now back to PDE. In the interim, I made MANY forays up to New England to visit, including a fest that included a visit to the then-nascent brewery! I was enamored of their willingness to CAN their beers from the outset & back then, it was a core of four (4), each of which were early additions to The CANQuest (tm). They have expanded both production & distro, making me quite happy!

From the CAN: "Sometimes the rain can drive you nuts, so you might as well have some in your beer. With that, we are proud to introduce Peanut Butter Raincloud, a unique and flavorful adaptation of our popular Raincloud robust porter. Raise a glass to the miracle that is peanut butter porter …"

I LOVE peanut butter! I don't eat it as much as I once did, but my most memorable experience was aboard the USS Normandy (CG-60) at the height of GW1. We had been transferred from the Red Sea into the Persian Gulf, missing our scheduled UNREP as a result. 8=( I was in an 8-hour rotation & when I came down from the 50-cal mount for breakfast, the only groceries aboard were a large CAN of peanut butter, an equally large CAN of preserved, sliced jalapeno peppers & a freezer-burnt loaf of white bread. 8=( I threw the two heels in the toaster, briefly, ginned up a jalapeno peanut butter sammich, grabbed a cuppa joe & headed out to the fantail to eat my smorgasbord & watch the sunrise, followed by a cigar and crashing out. I CAN still taste that sammich! Oh well, better than going totally hungry.

I beCAN by Crack!ing open the vent & giving it a relatively heavy-handed Glug into the awaiting glass. I was fascinated by the pseudo-cascade as it slowly settled to form just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, deep-brown/light-tan head with moderate retention. Color was Very Dark Brown to Black/Opaque (SRM = > 34, < 44), allowing garnet highlights at the edges. Nose was like a liquefied Reese's Peanut Butter Cup - rich, oily peanut butter enrobed in soft milk chocolate! Mmm. I pity those with peanut allergies as they will never have the opportunity to exbeerience this. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste began slowly & shyly, like a fan dancer revealing herself from behind the curtain. I got hints of peanut butter, but it was the base Porter acting as the EmCee until he stood aside & allowed the peanut butter to strut her stuff! Man, you had best love peanut butter going into this one, but if you do, you will be joyously rewarded. The roastiness of the Porter made for a nice aside, but the star was peanut butter. Finish was semi-sweet, but what else would it be, other than outright sweet, which would CANpletely put me off? YMMV.

Fairly standard porter in the glass with an orange, almost nonexistent head. I have to say the flavor and aroma took me by surprise, I was expecting a sweeter take on a peanut butter beer, but was instead given a porter with a toasted peanut finish. I wouldn't seek this beer out, but I'm glad I gave it a shot.

Had this at the Big E in the Rhode Island section. Black appearance with no head. Roasty nut aromas. The taste was more chocolate like than any real peanut like flavor. Decadently creamy. Overall, I enjoyed the aromas and mouthfeel.

12oz can, served in a snifter glass. No canning date. Pours a darker cola brown body, one finger thick frothy offwhite head, good retention, lots of lacing. Smell is burnt grain, a bit of nuttiness, light roast, dark fruit sweetness. The burnt and smoky portion seems to overwhelm any sort of nuttiness. Flavour follows, with the burnt aroma becoming more obvious on the palate. Not really what I was expecting; I was hoping for something sweeter, more dessert-like and less astringent than this. It's almost like a smoky peat. Mouthfeel is medium lighter bodied, peaty smoke throughout and on the finish, which is overall quite dry. Was not a fan, though it certainly is not a terrible beer- but the astringency was just too much.
