Heard about this for the longest time and finally found two bottles at a stupid high price. Disappointing sharp flavors and way to much dry bitterness for me. Not my kind of stout. Keeping the second bottle for a couple years to see if it mellows

Pirate Bomb pours a watery, shiny dark brown with a bubbly, dark tan head--it's obvious it has thinned out.

When I was pouring this, I could smell the rum heat emanating off of the rim, then all of a sudden it was gone as I brought it to my nose, replaced by roasty coffee, caramel, nougat and wet cocoa.

Wow--sweet, round flavors of Tootsie Roll and fudge spoil the tongue, with caramel swirled coffee ice cream following right after. Actually, as I swirl it around my mouth, it almost tastes like a Butterfinger! There is some true gold spiced rum flavor without the heat, but there's not much coffee or Mexican spices to speak of. I can barely tell this was BOMB! A touch of wet cinnamon barely emerges as it warms, but there is more dry, aged dark oak barrel and walnut shell than cinnamon, and it's overall much sweeter than any of the other big name Prairie stouts I've had.

The body is much thinner than regular BOMB!, and it's bubbly, with a slick stickiness. Overall it is less complex and less intense than Pirate Noir.

This is a solid Imperial Stout and is a mastery of the style. Pours thick and dark with little head or carbonation. Had in a tulip glass near room temperature.

Nose is pretty stellar. Definitely pick up on some heavy spice notes, plenty of cocoa and some bourbon. It's been mentioned here already, but definitely more peppery in the nose than in the body, where it's nearly nonexistent. Get some heavy hints of coconut, which isn't normally my bag, but it works well with the rum flavors that are present. It's a heavy hitter, to be sure, with a fudgy feel that doesn't leave an overly dry finish. All in all, this is a solid do that I'd drink again if I can get my hands on a bottle.
