This beer is fire. Great tart funk on the nose with hints of tropical citrus - very complex aroma with a bit of bready notes and hay. Similar taste of mild sourness with pineapple, grapefruit, mango. Brett complexity of funk. Great beer. These guys really blow me away sometimes.

500mL bottle poured into a Teku glass
A: Light orange overall but a hazy white hue permeats
S: Sour, bready, lemon, grapefruit
T: Citrus (grapefruit/lemon), sourdough bread, a bit of vinegar or sour grapes
M: Medium-bodied, some wheat dough but mostly sour (in a good mouthwatering way)
O: An enjoyable wild ale, tasty just not overly funky/complex

16.9 oz bottle split between three shaker pints. I don't see a date on the bottle, but it's dark.

Pours a hazy white-gold with a tiny head. Smells tart, bready and citrus, strong funk.

Taste is dominated by funk, noticeable (but not overpowering) sour, a little mango or some other tropical fruit. Nice.

Mouthfeel is dry but thick. Overall, nice beer.

First had poured from 16.9-oz. bottle, acquired in Norman, Okla., stamped "17416," into hotel water glass. Almost Berliner Weiss-like, the most notable part of this beer is the dry hopping. Drink fresh.

500 mL bottle. Big white head. Golden orange body. Smells of lemon, yeast, strong hops, and light Theraflu. Tastes of pungent lemon and grapefruit. Tart lemon. Faintest bit of sweet pale malt. Yeasty with that bit of Theraflu. Mosaic comes through as it warms. Pungent garlic with a strong bite. Lingering yeasty bitter finish. Medium high carbonation. Medium body. Again the Theraflu isn't my favorite flavor, but this works. Especially as it warms.

No label information. Funky Gold Mosaic is brewed in the style of an American Wild Ale dry hopped with Mosaic hops. Available in 375ml. bottles and on limited draft.

Poured from a 375ml. bottle to a tulip glass.

(Appearance) Pours a crisp, sudsy ecru white head over a hazy straw yellow body with abundant haze in tow and lots of assertive streams of carbonation. Retention is below average and lacing does not stick. 3.5

(Smell) Incredible sour tangy grapefruit aroma with a very soft pale malt backbone and a gentle sweetness. Mosaic hops add a lot of rounded citrus and tropical fruit aromas while enhancing the grapefruit and tangerine aroma of the nose, and a moderate bitterness. The souring acidity adds the perfect amount of tang to the aroma. Potency is moderate. 4.25

(Taste) The flavor largely follows the aroma, with drying high-acidity citrus fruit and citrus bitterness coming together for a quenching, sharp ale. There is a touch more residual sweetness than anticipated from the aroma, but this does not disturb the balance or acidic and hop-related focus of this beer. Very enjoyable flavor. 4

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, moderately residual, tangy, chalky dry. Carbonation is brisk, generating a medium frothiness and a fully crisp finish. Body is medium+ for the style, shy of medium overall. Balance is slightly acidic and hoppy bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.75

(Overall) I finally came around to this beer at a point where I thought the mosaic hop impact and the souring wild yeasts would be at an appreciated crossroads, and am not disappointed at this decision. The combination of wild yeasts and cutting-edge hop strains generate one of the most spot-on grapefruit-and-tangerine-inspired ales I have ever had the pleasure of trying. Not overly sour, but acidic enough to be convincingly citrusy, and the ever-popular mosaic hop adds an incredible round of flavor for an enticing and enjoyable beer without overtaking the balance in an IPA direction. A very enjoyable dry-hopped sour ale that is a winner all-around and worth seeking out. 4

Poured into a tulip...Pours a hazy straw color with a nice bright white head.

Smells of tropical fruit, lemon-grass, damp hay, floral.

Flavor is excellent notes of citrus, lemon, sweetness of berries. That blends with the Belgian, wine yeast notes that give the beer a biscuit bready base . The tartness from the Lactobacillus is balanced with the hop bitterness. It finishes with a dryness from the Brett.

An overall excellent sour ale worthy of purchasing again and again.

L: Poured from a bottle to a tulip glass. Had a medium yellow color and a cloudy consistency. There was an inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Not a whole lot of lacing, though.

S: A very sweet, fruity aroma of citrus, all kinds of berries, and some yeast.

T: Tasted of a bit of wild, Belgian-style yeast, lemon, pineapple, a little bit of malt, tropical fruit (mango, especially), a sour quality, a funky quality (the yeast, most likely), and a light berry quality. A good mix of fruity sweetness and barnyard funk. It's a little thin, however, in the finish.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: While this beer has some flaws, it's solidly made, light, and easy to like. Drinkable.

Pours a medium hazy yellow.
Very funky especially in the taste, some Brett, oranges, citrus, fruity malts, and oak.
Overall quite good; would like to have it again.

A: Love Prairie Artisan Ale bottle art. Some men and women in the 1970s working on bulky computers. Poured into retro (again 1970s style) Prairie Artisan Ales tulip. Color of pour light and hazy. Very bubbly. Lots of sediment. Wish there was a born on or best by date. This one is several months old, but not sure exactly how long since no date.
S: General sourness, cactus and pear.
T: Tastes similar to the smell. Very dry. Bone dry. Getting "funk" on the taste too.
F: Effervescent. The dryness and sourness great on this hot day. Am drinking this one quickly. Have to slow myself down to savor the expensive brew.
O: Another winner from Prairie Artisan Ales. A very tasty, refreshing, and well executed sour ale.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a nice clear gold topped by three fingers of dense white head that retains well and leaves decent lacing
S: Smells of red berries, sourness, funk and some citrus. Really interesting nose on this one with some herbal notes at times as well
T: Taste is nice and sour up front reminiscent of green apple skin. Thre's some dry hopped citrus and tropical fruit with a little pine oil. Swallow is more tartness with some lingering funk and hop oils.
M: This beer is on the lighter side of medium in body with slightly prickly carbonation and a dry finish,
O: I've been holding onto this one for too long and just got around to drinking it. The flavors are great and the complexity is pretty good. The nose is interesting as well. Overall this is a really nice beer that's sour but not excessively so. It's definitely one to try if you like dry hopped sours.

From a bottle a few days ago. Excellent, unusual ale. Mildly hoppy, understated funk, totally drinkable. I found the smell offputting ("barnyard" understates the almost manure notes), but to me that's not super important. So the aggregated rating formula understates my rating for this fine beer. I'd seek it out and have it again for sure.

Smell is fairly prominent barnyard funk, pineapple, a hint of mint, orange citrus, and lemon peel. Taste is herb-like, with citrus, some peach or stone fruit, and just mild tartness. I love Prairie's sours - and this one does not disappoint.

A - Pours a hazy golden yellow with a large three finger foamy white head. The head recedes rather quickly leaving some light soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is Brett funkiness, hay, lemon peel, and light earthy hops.

T - The taste is a nix mix of lemon peel, grapefruit, lactic tartness and funky Brett. I really pick up th Mosiac hops in the finish.

M - Light body with high carbonation. Nice crisp mouthfeel with a dry Finish.

O - This is a super solid beer. Nice blend of earthy and sour. Perfect for a warm summer day.

2015 vintage
~ 1 year since bottling date

Appearance- Pours a hazy, pale golden yellow color. Finger thick, pillowy and fizzy white colored head. Fast rising carbonation bubbles. Not much lacing on glass.

Aroma- Tart fruitiness, lemongrass, citrus zest, sweet berry notes and tropical fruits. Good amount of funky yeast qualities, lots of earthiness, grass, hay, mustiness, blue cheese, dankness.

Taste- Tart lemon, lime, zesty citrus notes and sweeter tropical fruits, mango, pineapple, and berries. Funky yeast, blue cheese, hay, grass, musty, and chalky.

Feel- Light bodied, only slightly tart w/ a real drying finish. Moderate carbonation.

Overall- Nice blend of sour and funk. Tartness is mostly lemon / lime in character, very zesty, but there are some nice tropical and berry fruit notes as well. Funkiness is really pronounced on the finish, a real pleasant cheesy character, with a lot of earth and mustiness. A good deal of the mosaic dry hopping has probably faded with age, but i think its represented still in the brighter fruit notes.

Bottle from Florida
Slightly hazy deep yellow with a frothy bubbly white head that persists. Earthy funky fruity with bitter pithy grapefruit dominating and light tropical fruits supporting. Lemony tart lightly puckering finish. Pretty damn good beer.

the color is similar to the simcoe -golden perhaps a little lighter, a pretty clouded smoothie-like look. The smell is great with mostly hops yet there is a faint wild yeast aroma with citrus qualities from both. The texture is balanced with lightly acidic yet mildly bitter and mildly resinous with moderate carbonation and mostly dry finish.

The taste is very good with a Mosaic flavor up front and lactic tanginess in the middle with a sort of lemon-lime aspect and fruity sour finish with almost no alcohol in the taste. This is a highly drinkable sour beer with a good amount of that citrus from the Mosaic hops in the taste.

Popped open the 16.9oz bottle and just basked in the aroma - pine, mango, pineapple, sour lemon and Brett funk. Wonderful combination. Effervescent bubbly champagne-like body with a soapy head. Taste washes over your tongue and hits so many of the core flavors - lactic tartness, bitter hops, slightly sweet citrus. Awesome cascade. As the hops-aroma dissipated, though, it lost some of the complexity but stayed strong for being an outstanding wild ale.

Prairie Artisan Ales Funky Gold Mosaic

L: Hazy gold with a tight white head and good retention 4.25
S: A lot of tropical fruit. Pineapple. Mango. Blueberries. Slight, slight earthy funk blends nicely. Sweet grainy malt in a small dose. Incredible! 5
T: Starts out with carbonated juice. The carbonation and lactic sourness combine and hit quickly and it throws my tastebuds for a loop. Tartness rolls in at the end. I'm still holding onto some mango even after it's dried out a while ago. The earthy note is uncovered late and just adds to the experience. This is magnificent! 5
F: Light-medium body. Sourness, tartness and carbonation add to the feel. It dries out a bit quickly, but what you get is great. 4.5
O: This is really good. I don't want this beer to end. The hop:sour:tart:carb ratio is perfect. This dry hopped sour is like nothing I've had before and I've been drinking "craft" for 20 years. US hop growers + US brewers are giving us some great things these days. 5

Poured from a 16oz bottle into a tulip. Hazy gold color. Reminds me of fresh lemon juice. Two finger white head that goes to nil in a few minutes.
The smell is absolutely great. Fresh grapefruit (yellow not ruby red). Some funky, spoiled?, smell also. But it's all good.
Taste follows smell with that yellow grapefruit. This beer is very juicy and tart. Some apple I think. I love this beer.
Mouth feel is just right for me. Not thin and watery. Dry on the end.
The best sour beer I've had to date. Wish their price was lower, but will buy again. Too good not to. Recommend to anyone. Great beer!

Hazy pale yellow color with white head. Aroma has really nice, bright stonefruits and citrus fruits, honey, grass and hay. Taste follows with all the fruity flavors plus a moderate lactic tartness, maybe a touch of brett funk too. You also get some hoppy bitterness on top. Finish is yeasty and dry. Medium body with an almost smooth mouthfeel. Really easy to drink yet tasty hoppy sour ale.

Pours a medium golden straw with good amount of foamy head. Aroma did not hit for me on this one, lots of raw hop cone and the yeast is just stale & off-putting. Taste thankfully rebounds, very light tartness with lemon citrus notes, some wet hay & a nice kiss of lacto at the end. Definitely a mild "sour", very sessionable. Body is medium & fine for the style, finishes semi-dry. If not for the aroma this would have been an overall great beer, still one to seek out.
