Wow this one was awesome. It has some age on it, and it literally smelled and tasted like liquid fudge with some alcohol poured on top. THe flavor is so much more complex than when it was fresh and the Balcones barrel is still present while not overpowering the adjuncts.

On tap, 8 oz. pour served in a snifter. Peppery, somewhat smokey, no overload on the whiskey which balances out well with the other Stout flavors. Probably one of my favorite Bombs... Solid!

A: thick jet black body with a thin chocolate brown head. Nice static lacing.

S: mountains of dark chocolate with this one. Cinnamon, whiskey, ginger bread notes. Very full and as good as it gets

T: the whiskey is strong here and it doesn't mellow out as it's enjoyed. I think sitting on it an extra 3-6 months would be wise. The whiskey stays throughout and lingers late. Notes of coffee cocoa and roasted malt with hint if vanilla in the finish.

M: smooth, thick body. Oily on the palate. Nice degree of carbonation, perfect feel.

Overall: glad I got to try it. Will sit on my second bottle a while. I feel pirate bomb is more complex and drinkable. But this one is excellent as well

Tan head. Color is black.

Flavor profile: chocolate and cocoa. Vanilla, coffee, roasted malts, caramel, licorice. The chili peppers and kind of subdued here. The whiskey flavors are tame, but present. Cocoa powder in the finish.

Mouthfeel: smooth and warning. Thick.

Very enjoyable beer. Similar to bomb.

Wow! 4.25 when cold but goes up to 4.5 as it warms. Char/smoky bourbon up front followed by malty caramel. A little peppery carbonation. Bit of dry lingering bitterness end.

8 ounce pour in flute glass. Color was dark and allowed very little light, off to a good start.

Nose was of chocolate lots of chocolate, vanilla, smoke, & faint whiskey. Coffee more pronounced as it warmed

Taste strong bitter sweet chocolate, slight chili, slight smokeyness, slight boozy.

Good texture solid stout feel, slight burn from peppers & whiskey.

Overall, barrel characteristics are masked by heavy chocolate. I was hoping the barrel would be the center piece of this beer. I hope bottles are better.
