I enjoyed this one - great flavors and looked amazing. No date printed on can. Day 2 of saison event. Pours a beautiful looking chestnut color with some abundant off-white fluffy white head and some small rings of lingering lacing. Smells of some tea tannins, malt, caramel, vanilla, bread, pepper, a little yeast but quite faint. Not much mustiness or funkiness. Taste follows the nose, great balance, goes down easy and pairs well with savory food. Smooth, mild mouthfeel, good carbonation. Slightly sticky on the palate. Very nicely done!

Pours a hazy orange straw color; looks very rustic. A large billowing white foam head displays excellent retention.

A yeast driven nose evokes big fruity notes of melon, peach, grapes and overripe tangerines and clementines. The yeast also yields a hint of tart and zesty lemon and lime, and notes of spice, particularly coriander and grass.

Dry rustic and funky flavors; I get a visceral reaction where I imagine myself back in time, a Belgian worker who has toiled in the fields and is enjoying a refreshing break amidst a pastoral scene. Zesty and tangy flavors evoking overripe citrus. A light tartness is redolent of lemon and lime. Woodsy, earthy, and grassy hops flavors yield an easy going bitterness. Yeast provides peppery spices and notes of coriander. Additional flavors of melon, pear, peach, white grape, dry cracker and bready malt that emit a muted sweetness.

Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel and relatively soft carbonation for the style. Vinous, fruity, peppery and tart, along with a dry finish on par for the style.

One of the more rustic examples of Saison , perhaps not to everyone’s taste, but certainly to mine. Interesting complexity of flavors. I enjoyed it.

Out of a 500 ml. bottle with no bottling or best by date. Sampled on February 26, 2019.

The pour is a handsome copper tone with moderate clarity and a long lasting cream colored foamy head. Lacing.

My first aroma sensation is raspberries or strawberries and then I pick up a yeasty and toasted sourdough character with a funky hayfield behind it all.

Light to medium and smooth body.

Sweet and funky taste with a slightly tart bite leading to a moderately dry finale.

The Saison is my favorite style (over 120, most were reviewed.)
Seemingly, it is the second-favored style for Prairie. (They have this knock-dead RIS line.)
So, how is it that this is my first of Prairie's brews ?
Have I been living under a rock ?

As a borderline curmudgeon compared to today's world of extreme experimentation, I am not a big fan of how dry-hopping
and has elbowed its way into saisons. So, I approached this Prairie Ace as a sceptic. That was wrong.

First impressions were good: it Looked inviting to drink and it Smelled better, lots of lemon and grass. Taste added some herbs and an earthy yeast that brought ingredients into a nice medley and balance. A bit perplexed, I discover Sorachi Ace is the secret ingredient; a big player in some of my favorite saisons.

Had with corn-on-the-cob (buttered and peppered), this somehow seemed an appropriate pairing when a lager would usually do. I will try a few more Prairie saisons before I return to its Ace.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a slightly hazy golden orange topped by a finger of dense off white head which retains well and leaves decent lacing
S: Smells of light funk and fruity esters with some spicy yeast. Slight hay with a hint of lemon zest as well.
T: Taste is slight funk up front with some orchard fruits, hay and grass, spicy yeast notes along with a little lemongrass. Swallow is dry pale malts, orchard fruits, and lingering spicy yeast notes with just a slight hint of funk and lemon at the very back end.
M: This beer has a medium body that's slightly creamy. Carbonation is effervescent but not prickly while the beer has a slightly drying finish
O: Overall this is a really nice beer. It has good flavors and a nice amount of complexity. It drinks well and also represents the style well. It's worth a try if you can find it.

Poured from bottle into tulip, good 2+ finger cream colored head, good retention and lacing. Clear golden in the glass. Sorachi Ace hops on the nose, big lemongrass, lemon and spice. Taste follows the nose, big burst of lemongrass on the palate, candi sugar, underlying floral notes and a peppery finish. Finish carries with it the lemongrass/peppery aftertaste, not in a bad way. Good mouthfeel for a saison, pretty good body.

This is a very interesting saison with the dry hops being tastefully incorporated instead of turning it into an IPA pretending to be a farmhouse ale. Nice citrusy tastes blended with vanilla and peppery. I'll be trying more of this pending availability.

Pours a murky, dark orange with a two-finger, white, fluffy head.
Slight funky fruit smell, not very big.
Taste has a good amount of funk up front with yeast and orange. Faint orange. Plenty of good hop.
I'm not big on Saisons but this is enjoyable.

Bought a bottle at Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge, MA. The beer has a very dark orange (almost brown) color and a medium head. The aromas are very delicious and a little all over the place, but i mostly smelled an aroma mix of vanilla and oranges. The taste does follow the nose; its admittingly hard for me to tell every aspect of this, but the beer has very complex flavor profiles. Generally bittersweet, but it has a sharp aftertaste that is reminiscent of that nose. Medium body. Overall, this surprised me; i really enjoyed the aromas and taste dimensions to this beer a lot.
