Funky Gold Citra
Pours a bright light yellow with minimal head that disappears almost as soon as it appears.
Aroma is strong up front of sour funk, citrus, lemon
Taste is quite tart up front leading to a sour lemon candy, light grapefruit, some hints of barnyard funk....
Carbonation is mod/high, lighter body
Finishes dry typical of brett.

Pours cloudy gold with a dissipating frothy white foam head. Notes of sour lychee, pineapple, mango, lime, orange citrus, grapefruit, lemon, some caramelized malt, with dusty floral earthy grass. Medium lighter bodied, creamy with smooth moderate carbonation. Overall a nice dry hopped sour ale with Citra.

What can I say? I LOVE everything that Prairie makes. Love it to an extent that I deliberately chose this Funky Gold Citra to end 2019 with - this was my champagne to see off the year with.
And actually it is very similar to a champagne, as wild ales are, for their fizziness, their dryness and for the yeast that was used in it. (This one is supposed to be a dry-hopped sour ale, to use precise terminology though...)
Brett makes all beers taste like champagne, especially what it does here with Citra is amazing, it turns the already fruity hops into green grapes and makes it sparkle as if it was wine. And tart as if it had some sour cabbage added. Eww... gross? Think again!
Prairie always gives these beers a unique twist, they always turn out to be a work of art. Perhaps this Citra is one of the simplest of their Funky Gold series, Mosaic for instance smelled and tasted like horse piss - and in a good way! Can you understand this? It had tremendous funk to it that made it smell like a barn - and I loved it! This Citra is also funky, especially the aroma (loving it, hands down!) but it is slightly on the moderate side. It is a Brett wearing a tuxedo, well groomed, it is not only meant for radicalists. Nevertheless, it is funky GOLD, liquid gold, for what it’s worth. Pure gold.
I would use all this gold and crown Prairie with it. 2019 has been a year that I missed drinking any Prairie beers (actually this was the only one I managed to put my hands on this year!!!), compared with the multitude of the previous years it was definitely a letdown (well, you can’t find it in Japan like back in the West...) but I did manage to find a retailer so look out 2020, here we go! For a Prairie-rich, Happy New Year, cheers!

L: Gold with a light haze permeated by streams of rapidly rising bubbles under a 1.5" lacy and frothy white cap that slowly dissipates.
S: Citrus, fruit, spice, citrus peel, citrus rind, tropical fruit, tangerine and mild funk.
T: It has a mild citrus tartness that pairs nicely with the citrus from the hops and finishes tart, fruity, spicy, dry and funky
F: Medium light, effervescent, tart, dry
O: This is an elegant, very drinkable beer where all of the parts work marvelously together.

Huge juicy tangerine sour, fantastic brew, could crush this endlessly. Feels great, really crisp, insanely drinkable. Reminds me of Stillwater Tangerine Haze.

Reviewed from long-standing notes. Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle into an El Catador teku glass.
A: Pours a light gold with orange highlights, and very hazy. Forms a thin white head that fades away fairly quickly, with lots of visible carbonation.
S: Citrus and tropical fruits, dank and melon. Lactic tartness with some lemony citric acid and a modest barnyard funk. Light cracker malts, and is there maybe a touch of wheat? Very nice here.
T: Lactic tart and lemon zest up front. Citrus and tropical and melon fruity hops, with a bit of dank as well - but less than I got on the nose. Cracker malt body and a modest funk – barnyard and Lactobacillus. Modest dry and hop bitter finish.
M: A light body with lots of carbonation sensation. Low alcohol presence.
O: I've drank this at least twice, and really enjoyed it both times. At least in my memory, right up there with Hop Savant for a tart, funky, hoppy brew that's right up my alley. Excellent.

500ml bottle poured into glass. Stamped bottling date on bottle neck is obscured but looks like an early 2017 bottling.
Brewed and bottled by Krebs Brewing Company, Krebs OK.
Murky, straw colored body. Two finger white, fizzy head settles to thick, fizzy cap. No lacing.
Aroma is funky lemon and citrus hops.
Lots of mellow funk in the taste, with citrus hops and tart lemon adding in. Rather dry and quick ending taste profile.
Very silky, very pleasant mouth feel. More of a tart mouth feel, with just a touch of sour. Higher carbonation level.
All around pleasant and enjoyable beer to drink. One must like sour beer to enjoy this, but does have a presence of hops that add to the experience.

500ml bottle, brewed and bottled by Krebs Brewing Company, Krebs Oklahoma.
Pours a hazy straw yellow, an inch of foam with the gentle pour, some lacing.
Big notes of Brett, lemon citrus, fruity tartness and oak in the smell. Now getting some apple vinegar.
Tartness starts things off. A mix of lemon zest and oranges, Brett shines after the first few sips, oaky, cracker malt...complex and delicious.
Nice lightish mouthfeel, excellent for the style.
Dang this is pretty awesome.
