Goddamn. This is a brown ale?

It's funny, because I've had regular Okie, and I don't recall being particularly floored (it's good, and I love Prairie, and probably enjoyed it - but I don't recall a spiritual experience). This is something different entirely.

Okie Paradise pours a surprisingly deep, thick brown - it's nearly opaque and almost fooled me in to thinking the beer was a stout. Another surprise was the nose - holy booze, wow, lots of acetone burn. I decided to leave it to sit and warm to air temperature during dinner - which made a world of difference. There's still a slight burn to the nose and there's definitely rum present - but the taste allays all of your fears and becomes pure fudgy brownie. As the beer warms a bit more, there's a subtle nuttiness, and a bit of a coconut presence. For the most part, the coconut isn't prominent, but it's certainly there.

The beer isn't light, and it surely doesn't taste like something that is even remotely sessionable. I got lightly f'd up on this bottle and am not ready for another beer just yet - soon though. The finish definitely lingers for a bit and isn't exactly clean. But, there are still fond memories.

Excellent beer - really style defying in some ways. Borderline porter/brown ale, I think. Really helps my faith in Prairie, regardless - glad to see this beer is worth the hype.
