Stuf't (Batch 3), bottled 3/11/20. Boozy barrel nose, initial boozy barrel taste. Then the blend washes in. Dark coffee, thick chocolate, Oreoish. "Cookie!" All in all, flavorful boozy goodness. Yay for boozy!

Batch 3. There is literally no oreo, barrel, vanilla, or cocoa character to this beer, which is shocking because Prairie normally knocks those adjuncts out of the park. The beer itself just seems like a base stout. It appears that the ratings on this beer have gone from amazing for batch one to lackluster by batch three. This was a huge disappointment.

I love prairie but this is an abomination. How many gallons of artificial vanilla extract did they dump into each barrel? This is one of the most chemical tasting beers I've ever tasted.

As the trend of stout is to edge closer and closer to alcoholic brownie batter, the brewers of Prairie prod this momentum along with their oreo stuffed imperial stout. Not be outdone, a kick of bourbon keeps this dessert very much an adult delight.

With a standard thatch black pour, a creamy tan head builds on the rim as Stuf't begins to engulf the room with chocolate, coffee, cream and charred whisky aromatics. With the first sip, the richness of nougat is wrapped around a sweet chocolate, toffee and caramelized maltiness.

As the middle palate becomes awash with the malty decadence, the stronger flavors of chocolate wafers start to command the taste. Even while bold flavors of espresso, vanilla and condensed milk make their presences known, its the cocoa and dry cake character that reigns supreme. Nuances of Kentucky whisky play out in the late palate with its own charred oak, caramel and vanilla character with the softer coconut and cream flavors thwarting any hop bitterness.

Full, creamy and quite luxurious on the finish, the bittersweet chocolate flavors become less like milk chocolate and more like cocoa in a long, lavish aftertaste. I'm not sure if the beer sells its "Oreo" character all that well, but the taste of the chocolate wafer portion is pretty spot on.

Dark black body. Half finger offwhite head. Good retention. Lots of small particles in the beer, clearly unfiltered. Smell is creamy marshmallow, vanilla, a bit of dark chocolate and cocoa. A bit of milk chocolate and whiskey. I don't really get the oreo cookie part. But the filling is definitely here in spades, both on the nose and palate. Mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy aside from the small particulates that are definitely noticeable. Good carbonation. Creamy marshmallow on the finish. One of the better Prairie Dawgs I've had.
