Super-fruity aroma and flavor. Good tartness, too. Very drinkable at 5.2% abv. Maybe a little high on carbonation, but it does make it refreshing. Glad I was able to steal one of these from my wife.

This is a very interesting concept. To me, it plays with the question of what beer really is. I think with a more natural flavor profile this concept could appeal to me more. Honestly, I’m surprised there are no extremely negative reviews of this yet. My friend Terry (who is not a beer guy) tried this today and exclaimed that he loved it, "because it's not bitter!" which I think says a lot. This is a beer for people who don't like hops and prefer candy.

Pours with a slightly hazy golden body and a short-lived, but lively two-finger head. Awesome can art of people in hovercars on a highway in the sky. Mine is slightly different from the image.

Almost comically, it smells like fruit loops, but in water with a squeeze of lemon juice, instead of milk. Notes of lemon, blueberry, blue raspberry, cotton candy and candied orange, with a grainy cereal undertone reminiscent of lucky charms.

This really brings me back to my childhood. Upon sipping, it tastes tart but has an artificial candy undertone and a grainy cereal base, like fruity pebbles. It also does an amazing job of tasting like the classic Thrifty ice cream flavor, Rainbow Sherbet.

The feel is pretty nice. It could use more of a dry crisp finish that I prefer in sours, although its tartness is well-balanced against the sweetness.

Once again, it's not bad, but I'm really surprised no one has reviewed this who absolutely hated it, and I only say this because it really does not taste like a beer. At all. Expecting beer and drinking this is almost like expecting an apple and biting into a plum. But Even the one guy who seems to have (probably) gotten a bad can, seems reluctant to slander Prairie over one bad experience. Good for him. Prairie is the Bomb! Cheerios.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden yellow color with a pinkish hue and a small, white head of foam. It left minimal lacing. Smelled a little like rainbow sherbert. Lots of sweet fruity flavors with a hint of tart lemon and subtle caramel notes. Crisp, sharp and smooth.

Poured from a can. Straw in color and hazy with a small white head. Slightly fruity smell. Getting lime and lemon in the flavor. Not overly sour, very easy to drink. Let it warm up slightly and the flavors are more pronounced.

Yellow and a slight haze and four fingers of off white head.

Smells like soda water with a hint of rainbow sherbet.

The taste follows the nose.

Extremely light body with very light carbonation.

I got this on the East Coast and I’m drinking in Redding California, July 19, 2020.

This was quite a nice wild ale from the always great Prairie. 5/20/20 date printed on can. Pours a very slightly pale golden color with just a touch of haze and some fluffy white head that faded to spotty lingering lacing. Aromas of ripe tart blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and some weaker floral hops. Also some bready malt, vanilla and faint lemon. Taste follows the nose, fairly good balance with a stronger yeast-like finish. Crisp, mild slightly thin mouthfeel with decent carbonation. Not usually my style, but quite enjoyable nonetheless.

Pours a very cloudy golden color with thin foamy head that quickly dissipates. Smells just like a fruity sherbet. Lime and orange creamsicle. Taste is the same. Very mild sourness. Decent tartness. Medium bodied with very mild carbonation. That may be due to the crowler.

Tasted in a Rastal Teku from a 12 fl oz can on March 20, 2020. Sour summer ale brewed with raspberry, pineapple and orange. Not quite rainbows and unicorns in a can but good nonetheless.

L: The pour was nothing to write home about. Simple thick yellow pour with no head.
S: This beer smells exactly like a fruity Sherbet. Absolutely pleasing.
T: Rainbow sherbet through and through. Very fruity and tart, exactly what I am looking for in a good sour.
F: This beer will not be for everyone just simply because it is cheek puckering-ly sour but for me this is phenomenal.

O: This punch-in-the-jaw sour is a pinnacle sour in my book. Tastes and smells exactly as its name would suggest.

12oz can into a teku.

A: Cloudy gold with minimal head.

S Pretty big tart citrus and fruitiness, tropical fruits peek through but it’s primarily lemon and lime, sour tangerine and pineapple, big raspberry comes through as well. Fairly funky as well.

T: Follows the nose, lots of lemon sourness, raspberry tartness, citrus and tropical fruitiness (melon?) and citrus peel/pith, sour funk. Good stuff.

MF: Light and tart, appropriate carbonation, dryness on the finish.

O: Not bracingly sour but tart enough to distance it from the rash of recent fruit beers masquerading as sour beers.

I am truly hoping this is just a bad can, pours cloudy med gold and completely flat with no head or lacing, smell is lemon peel and chemically, taste is similar, very tart with notes of lemon bitterness raspberry peeking through the odd chemical taste. Very thin with 0 carbonation, overall not very good, never had a prairie brew i didnt like until now, really hope it was just a bad can

A - Looks like a decent sour a bit of a darker yellow with just a 1/4 inch of foam that settles to nothing.
S - Sour but interesting like a touch of cream maybe some strawberry or lime? It's sour that I know is true.
T - I can taste the sugary tones of raspberry and strawberry with notes of lime shaved Italian ice and a slightly zest peel finish. GREAT!
M - On par with the style light to medium smooth with every sip a touch of sour twang.

Overall it does remind me a bit of raspberry sherbet. Great beer!

12 oz can
Ommegang Snifter

Bright pear juice color with a thin little wispy head receding to nothing.

Aroma is sure enough rainbow sherbet, an emphasis on cherry, with some underlying mineral and other sour notes. Sprite pop comes to mind.

Flavor brings a flash of rainbow sherbet, followed by lime seltzer, stony mineral, orange tic-tac, smarties, and strawberry nerds. It's sour candy in a glass.

Feel is effervescent, crisp, real easy drinking, it's gone before you know it.

Overall a stellar sour ale. Drinks straight down. Had to pick this up out of curiosity and they nailed the rainbow sherbet/candy vibe. Well done.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a tulip glass.

Pours a hazy, amber gold color with minimal white head. The head leaves no lacing as it settles into a thin ring.

The aroma is definitely interesting. It's a bit like 7-Up, but if you mixed in some other flavored sodas as well. There's lots of lemon and orange cream, as well as some strawberry and pink lemonade.

The taste is...well, I'm not sure what I expected. It's lemon ice with some orange creamsicle and strawberries. There's a fair bit of doughy malt. Finishes sweet and tart, like Smarties candy.

The feel is light bodied with very good carbonation. Extremely bubbly and crisp. Very drinkable.

Overall, a great and relatively unique sour ale. It comes exactly as advertised, and never becomes too tart or too sweet.

Full disclosure - I am not one to gravitate to sours and though I try them, I normally don't ending liking. But this sour might just make me a believer...

About the only thing I didn't like about this beer was it's look. It was your run-off-the-mill looking beer, and also-ran with no head or lacing to mention. Ah, but the rest of it was truly special. Sweet smell to the nose with a nice blending of malt, a mouthfeel that was lightly carbonated and a taste I could actually enjoy through the firm sour base the flavor that it gives. Another great offering from a brewer is up there on my list I always keep an eye out to try.

This sour was amazingly complex. At first it tastes like a normal sour beer, but then the aftertaste is like a mixture of a few different Sherbet's. This beer lives up to it's name in the most fantastic way.

Hazy orange with no head at all. Bright and sweet smells of orange, lime, strawberry. It smells exactly like a bowl of rainbow sherbet. Taste is tart, citrusy, fruity, and acidic, balanced by a slight sweetness. Feel is moderately acidic. A very enjoyable sour to drink, and incredibly faithful to its namesake.

Becoming seriously adept at sour ale making, the Prairie artisans get to work piling onto the somewhat generic but super clean sour ale with copious amounts of flavors to not just suggest rainbow sherbet but replacing it identically in beer form.

Peachy gold and nearly turbid with haze, the frothy ale strikes the nose with unmistakable aromas of that promised rainbow sherbet. With nuanced scents of fermented must, light pastry and sour candy; these do little to detract or add to the sherbet character. Candied, sweet and fruit punch in taste, these flavors only allow the beer to taste more like sherbet itself.

The middle palate offers much of the same while slowly pulling away from candied or malty sweetness and soon replaced by tanginess, then tartness and then full blown clean lactic sourness and all its lemon, lime, crabapple, gooseberry glory. A late palate of wheat is but a glimpse into the fact that there's a beer in here somewhere.

So convincingly in its rainbow sherbet taste, texture and scent, a hint of freezer burn and carton lining can even be sensed. Rainbow Sherbet (the beer) is a perfect spiked punch beverage for the craft beer lover in all of us. It may be a gimmick, but what a gimmick it is!

Rainbow Sherbet pours a semi-opaque golden yellow with a quick wispy head that disappearing leaving nothing at all. The smell is a vibrant lemon sweet tart, pineapple and orange sherbet. Hell compare it those Smarties candies. The taste has a light mouthfeel with a crisp tartness across the palette. It almost tastes like a tart lemonade with a kiss of sweetness and a hint of orange and pineapple

12 oz can

Pours slightly hazy golden. No head retains.

Smells of lemon, strawberry, and cotton candy.

Tastes of tart citrus and strawberries with smarties.

Light body, tingly carbonation on the tongue.

Interesting candy/fruity sour ale. It's decent, worth trying. A little too artificial tasting for me.

On tap at Picasso Cafe in OKC. A dim golden color, no head to speak of. Lemon zesty nose.

Taste is candy sour & sweet, like downing a bag of assorted flavors. Very fruity pebbles. Blueberry & lemon are most discernible, as if Prairie split the difference between their Hulk Hands and Blueberry Boyfriend beers. Mouth is actually pretty light, though it leaves a faint coat on the tongue.

This enamel-peeler won’t please everyone, but the adventurous who like the sour end will be very, very pleased. Slainte, Prairie.
