Bottle.

Tan head that fades. Black color. Oily.

A nice variation of vanilla noir. All the vanilla, sweetness, oak, and bourbon. The snickerdoodle complements the vanilla nicely and doesn’t overtake the beer.

Thick and full bodied. Warming, the abv shows. Fudgy.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a deep, dark, jet black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing to speak of.

S: A sweet and enticing aroma of chocolate, booze, malt, vanilla, coffee, and cookies.

T: Tasted of decent bit of bourbon (and its accompanying barrel), a hint of vanilla (fleeting), a good amount of cookies, a lot of chocolate (sweet and rich), a little malt (present throughout, though subtle), and a bit of coffee (nice and warm). This is a complex, rich, and aggressive flavor. Delicious.

F: An average amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Full-bodied.

O: Another excellent and well made Prairie stout. Drinkable.

Prairie stouts are always welcome here! I should have a lawn sign made. 12 oz. bottle.

Big black stout. Roast drifts up off the surface, but the power of suggestion to my nose say “mostly cookie”. I like cookie.

Snickerdoodle Vanilla Noir says bourbon – my mouth says rye. Up-front barrel is boozy, rough in the throat, & yells “spicy” as I pass by…or maybe that’s the chai talking. Enough chocolate to satisfy my daily addiction needs, roast, deep sweetness from the malts & vanilla doing the cha-cha (or chai-chai). And a finish of hella chai stuff. Big & aggressive & thicker than a mask-denier’s head. I wouldn’t mind trying to take down two of these. It’d be like an extreme staying awake challenge.

This beer has it. The body, the weird, the barrel, the tastiness. Excellent bordering on elite. Please send more of your lineup to MN!

Like most of Prairie's stouts the beer is black with not even a hint of a head.
Aroma of booze, chocolate, vanilla, and a little coffee.
Taste of bourbon, chocolate, coffee, and vanilla.
Very sweet, very chewy.
Nice dessert beer.

12 oz bottle, dated 9/13/20, into Prairie BOMB snifter.

Pours an oil black color with a fingernail of brown head. Has some floaties on the top, an oily residue from adjuncts.

Aroma is coffee and chocolate with some sweet heat from the bourbon barrel. A bit quiet from the glass. I only get the cookie from the bottle, and the soft dough comes in. I get a bit of coconut and cinnamon from the bottle as well. Perhaps a hint of vanilla.

Flavor is way more awesome than the nose. Snickerdoodle cookies out the ying-yang. Underneath that you get some coffee and chocolate and vanilla, and a mild bourbon barrel sweetness. and burn. A touch of hot cinnamon/red hots.

Feel is slick and viscous, with some mild carbonation, quite a bit of fluff, with a sting from the bourbon. Dries out a bit at the end.

Overall, I mean this is probably the definition of a pastry stout. You can taste the pastry/cookie. Pretty awesome stuff. You do get used to the cookie aspect after a few sips - ends up tasting like regular Vanilla Noir, but that's not a bad thing. If you want the snickerdoodle, wait a minute or two and dive in again. The only unfortunate thing is we get rammed up the butthole for Prairie pricing here, usually by 2-3 bucks a bottle over other surrounding states. If it weren't so astronomically high here, I'd probably go for another bottle and serve it up around Thanksgiving.

Price paid : $14.99 / bottle
Would buy again : if the prices came down

Prairie Snickerdoodle Vanilla Noir BA Imperial Stout, 14.4% ABV. Pours black with the typical Prairie ring of light brown bubbles instead of real head. Nose is vanilla and cinnamon, taste follows, moderate sweetness, slight bitterness, some bourbon burn. Excellent mouthfeel if a bit under-carbonated. Overall world-class. Reminiscent of Oskar Blues/Cigar City Bamburana, but I still prefer Bamburana.
