This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a very small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells lightly roasty, with milk chocolate, a touch of maple, and almond.
It’s hard to nail down exactly what went wrong here. There’s barely any barrel character here, and the base stout is kind of just boring – it’s simultaneously kind of thin, but feels heavier as the beer warms up a bit. The adjunct work is decent – I don’t get a ton of vanilla, but almond is toasty and not all that sweet, and the maple adds a nice dimension that also manages to not be too sweet. There’s some good aspects of this, but it doesn’t really come together in a harmonious manner.
This is medium bodied, not quite as thick and syrupy as some Prairie BA beers can be.
I wanted a bit more out of this – it didn’t fully come together in my mind.

Look: black with a thick mocca colored head
Aroma: chocolate, vanilla, coffee, bourbon
Flavor: The flavor is chocolate, vanilla, nuts a little bit of coffee and a hint of the bourbon but not really any alcohol flavor despite the ABV.
Body/Overall: The body is thick and syrupy but soft.

Bottle stamped “11.02.21” in yellow ink on the shoulder. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 54.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 57.0 degrees F.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Deep Brown (SRM 30), light barely penetrates.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head: Tiny (Maximum 0.4 cm, aggressive center pour), ochre, fizzy, dropping to a 0.25 cm crown and no cap.
Lacing – None expected (13.4% ABV), none found.
Aroma – 4 – Weak whiskey (13.4 % ABV according to the label). No hops, no malt, no yeast. No maple, no vanilla, no almonds.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins slightly bitter with bourbon. No malt, no yeast, no hops. No maple, no vanilla, no almonds. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Nasty gastric burning.

Pours dark, no carb or head. Strong scents of barrel and vanilla. Maple and almond are present, just not as strong. Taste is subtle and balanced. All the flavors as advertised are there. Big, bold, just a hint of oiliness/ thickness, slight pleasant boozy burn. Sometimes I think these guys can’t make a bad barrel aged stout. This one is excellent.

L: Pours a thick chocolate brew that forms no appreciable head. No lacing or retention detectable. Motor oil. Held to the light, this beer is effectively black.
S: Bourbon barrel, roasted malt, chocolate, and oak form the base. Followed by roasted malts, almonds, caramel, and hints of maple syrup and sugar.
T: Starts with dark chocolate, vanilla, and the bourbon barrel adding some kick. Lingering char and roasted malt. Mellows out as it transitions to almonds, maple syrup, caramel, and a faint hint of dark fruit. Finishes with some alcohol heat, oak, and char.
F: Full-bodied. Slick, oily, and coating with very faint carbonation. Spicy, warming aftertaste and a dry finish.
O: The barrel influence elevates this beer. Fantastic stout base with good flavor, the maple syrup and almonds are tactfully mixed, and the beer avoids being a sugar bomb. As with most Prairie stouts, there is no head, lacing, or retention but that's remedied by the rest of the beer.

12oz bottle. Date stamp on neck is '11.02.2021'.
Black colored body. Brief lasting brown colored head. No lacing.
Aroma of dark roasted malt base, bourbon barrel, vanilla, maple syrup, and a touch of nuttiness.
Taste is a mix of bourbon barrel, almond, vanilla, and the cover is the maple syrup.
Thicker mouth feel. Dry finish. Supportive carbonation.
Not very sweet, but vanilla and almond add immensely overall. A balanced blend of components. The lingering bourbon barrel is a treat.

Pours perfectly black with mahogany brown on the edges and a minimal sudsy dark tan head that dissipates in seconds. The nose is big maple and vanilla notes, with some almond and barrel notes as well.
The taste is led by the maple and vanilla and is absolutely delicious , with the almond and barrel flavors providing balance so this doesn’t come in too sweet, and a bit of stone fruit at the very back of the palate. Really excellent stuff.
The mouthfeel is full but just a smidge o the softer side. I wish I had a couple more bottles of this to age, because I think it will do that well.

Pours black with only a thin, copper head. Aroma is all bourbon, all the time. If I inhale multiple times and talk to myself, I think I can detect a bit of maple but it's difficult. Taste is all bourbon, all the time. If I close my eyes, I think I can detect some almond but it's difficult. Carbonation is non-existent. The flavor isn't at all bad, though it is admittedly unbalanced. Yet, still good.

Pours opaque black that allows no light to pass. Aggressive pour yields a thin mocha cap that dissipates immediately leaving no lacing. Aroma is boozy, with chocolate, roasted malt, and a hint of vanilla. Flavor follows the nose, sweet with a hint of maple joining the other flavors. Feel is thick and lacking much carbonation. Overall, a fantastic beer. These guys do stouts right.

12oz bottle poured into a moose mug
A- pours jet black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring
S- aroma is predominately rich chocolate and almonds, followed by vanilla bean and woody bourbon barrel, which adds caramel and enhances the nutty aroma. A touch of maple at the end
T- chocolate and charred malt up front give way to an amaretto-like almond nuttiness, followed by light vanilla bean. Mid-palate brings out some barrel juice and oak, along with caramel. The finish gives almond, chocolate and more barrel, with a hint of maple sweetness on the linger
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly warming finish
